First I'll say that I'm talking about what came out in europe, not necessarily what I brought before the US/Steve. So when I say 'I 'got' strikers charged first' I mean it was released here in europe before America, and I'm sure there were others but I honestly don't care enough about those games for me to remember their existence.
Secondly... Yeah, despite what I just said, I did buy strikers charged! Playing it as one of my first ever online games ever (not just wii) and with friends at parties and such is one of the cornerstones of my childhood, although I probably wouldn't buy it today and don't worry my childhood is something I really don't care much about, on account of me being a completely unlikeable tool, my mother etc.
Anyway yeah say what you like about operation rainfall, Europe gets screwed over too damn much! We're getting the devil survivors games, what, 2 years after their initial release in america? Atlus always has a massive delay on their games, arcsytems and blazblue are also bad, I'm convinced that persona 4 arena (which still doesn't even have a release date by the way) will be dead on arrival. Namco! My god they don't even bother localising in the US, they made tales of Xillia 2 before they even bothered localising the first game! Tales of Graces F and plenty of other games from them also came months after the initial US release. Thankfully, fire emblem awakening seems like it's coming here on a faster than light train into my hands compared to what I usually have to put up with.

I really, really, want this game. I have been interested in the FE series for a whole but never played one and I feel this is the perfect time to play one. Also related Awkward Zombie comic. link

Got it at midnight without having to wait for my illnesses to clear up, and I've been playing it since. Not to mention, it's on an SD card which is technically physical. Anyway it is really good.

You know when I look back on this game... I completed it a few days ago... I think I prefer Fire emblem Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.
Awakening certainly had much better supports by far, I love random encounters, I love the bonus content, I love being able to play as past characters and see other nods such as their weapons, and their history and Tiki also being integrated into the story. ... however I'm sorry, the story is awful compared to the after mentioned games, which had much better exposition, much better integration of the characters (who in awakening, outside of gameplay and supports never appear again) into the story with arcs and such. I know its difficult in a game where death is permanent, but what happened to the nods such as in radiant dawn near the end... as I recall, you meet the child of one of the characters who can die permanently, and there's different dialogue depending upon weather or not she's dead or not. Unlike in awakening where they feel disposable, I felt like a horrible person in the playthroughs where the child's mother was dead. I didn't feel the world of awakening was fleshed out as much... the countries and the NPCs seemed so lifeless compared to the radiant games, where I had a clear place of which country was which, their relation to each other and how each country worked. And the political tensions and battle strategies were much better too. Yeah, Soren came across as someone with infinitely better knowledge of tactics than the MU. I mean, if the MU is me then he's awful at tactics! I let everyone die. You actually know what Soren is doing when he talks strategy, you know? Not nearly as fleshed out when the MU talks. Finally, there's the late game twist... I liked it, and it was sort of unexpected but I wasn't really surprised, however the moral choice at the end was pretty bad because its more a calculation when you actually know that no matter what you do, what was supposed to be sacrifice or death becomes 'live either way, but one option is better for the world.'
Gameplay is better in awakening though, much more content but I don't think I can bring myself to do a second playthrough... as much as I'd like to see all the support conversations as a female, and try to get the ultimate Morgan. (Seriously, in my first playthrough I thought she had to have been illegal and apparently I didn't even give her the best mother to maximize her strengths!) And I'm annoyed that the extra paralogue chapters and characters can only be played at end game. Why would I want to get Gangrel if I can only effectively use him for only one more story chapter, and at most, like, 10 more short side chapters?
Story is what interests me though, and as a whole I'd recommend the two radiant games over awakening any day. Kinda rare now though...
At least awakening was better than shadow dragon. Much, much better. Seriously, remake or not shadow dragon aged awfully...

Got this game earlier this week and am loving it so far. I am only on Chapter 4 though so not that far. No one on my team has died yet but I have had a couple close calls and I am paranoid to when the moment will come when one of the characters bites the dust.

So I beat this game yesterday. Really great game. It's my first look at the fire emblem series and I like it a lot. So much that I immediately proceeded to start again (and lose another night of sleep) and then realize about halfway through the game... That I made Lucina OP without even trying. See, I married Chrom to Sumia, who I'd been using as a Dark Flier. Really cool class by the way, love it. Then I got her to level 15 and found out about a nice little gem of a skill called Galeforce. If you're reading this you probably already know it's powerfuland that children get skills from their parents. So then I get Lucina, who gets both Aether and Galeforce right off the bat. It's kinda rediculous. I love this game. The support system is good (albeit it makes for some marriages that make no sense), the battle system is cool, the characters are likeable, good (a bit cliche, but good) story...really I don't have anything bad to say since it's not too easy or too hard since seperate difficulty settings...a few of the units could be better balanced out to make everyone useful, along withmaking some classes a bit better... (Yes I'm looking at you, Sully. You too Fred, you break the early game. Stop that.) but it's cool in a roundabout way because some units that seem useless actually have huge potential (Donnel and Sumia are the ones I've noticed.) I'm not overly fond of the children being superior to the parents in every way pretty much, but it's not really a gripe because it encourages me to use new units. Fun game. Now to go keep playing.

I saw Steve was online playing FE:A, and had to come post here. So, I have all but 2 packs of dlcs.
Dread Fighter is a great class that let's me use swords, tomes, and axes. It also levels up as fast as a base class, so I'm getting double exp on my Riku. Plus, I get even more exp with the skill paragon from a different dlc. So, I've been using paragon to lvl up all the units I love to use. I also love Walhart, Aversa, and Priam. They are all so great. Gangrel, Emmeryn and Yen'Fay are also great, but their stats aren't as nice off the bat. Granted, Walhart needs some work to grab abilities you want. I'm personally striving for quick burn, pavise, and maybe sword and lance breakers. I got him pavise and quick burn already, plus he has conquest which is great.
I also have the infinite regalia dlc. This dlc is so abusable. I can literally go and get multiple of the game's strongest weapons. Along with this dlc, I got the pack, so, granted I also got one that gives double experience with each enemy defeated. This makes each enemy give me a lvl with every kill thanks to paragon.
Dlcs I have and their perks: Champions of Yore 1- Marth Champions of Yore 2- Roy Champions of Yore 3- Micaiah, All Stats +2 skill The Golden Gaffe- Each enemy has gold. 70k total. EXPonential Growth- Enemies give double experience Infinite Regalia- Each time played has 3 rare, highly usable weapons in chests Lost Bloodlines 1- Leif; a great Trickster with Renewal, which helps him stay alive Lost Bloodlines 2- Alm- Dread Scroll; this allows any male character to class into the Dread Fighter class. It is capped at lvl 30 Lost Bloodlines 3- Seliph, Paragon; doubles amount of exp recieved Smash Brethren 1- Elincia Smash Brethren 2- Eirika, Bride's Bouquet; let's you class any femal character into the bride class. Counterpart to Dread Fighter. Mainly a support class if you like to rally. Smash Brethren 3- Lyn, Iote's Shield; removes flying weaknesses(bows/wind tomes) Harvest Scramble- Great for building relationships between same gender characters Summer Scramble- Great for building relationships between paret type characters Hot-Spring Scramble- Great for building relationships with child type characters Future Past 1- You get to see an alternate future and intervene and learn from conversations with the child units there Future Past 2- You get to see an alternate future and intervene and learn from conversations with the child units there Future Past 3- You get to see an alternate future and intervene and learn from conversations with the child units there Apotheosis- You can challenge yourself to an increasingly difficult map.
My street pass and ideal team is: Chrom - Great Lord Riku- Dread Fighter Nowi - Manakete Walhart - Wyvern Lord(until I get Sword Breaker) Priam- Hero Lissa - War Cleric Sumia - Bride Miriel - Sorcerer Kjelle- Great Knight
Chrom is great: Str:44 Capped Mag:12 Skill:41Capped Spd:42Capped Lck:46 Capped Def:41 Capped Res:21
Abilities: Aether. Use Sol and Luna in succession. Skill stat /2 Rightful King. Increases trigger rate of the unit's skills by 10% Aggressor. Grants Atk+10 when the unit initiates an attack Aegis. Halve bow/tome/dragonstone damage. Skill stat Resistance+10. Grants Res+10
Riku is nice. Str 43 Capped Mag 37 Capped Skill 44 Capped Spd 41 Capped Lck 44 Capped Def 40 Capped Res 26
Ablitites: Armsthrift - Attack without expending a weapon use. Lck stat x2 Sol - Absorb HP equal to half damage dealt. Skill stat Aggressor - Grants Atk +10 when the unit initiates an attack All Stats +2 - Grants +2 to all stats Ignis - Add half Mag or Str to the other value. Skill stat
I'd post the rest, but this gonna take me forever and I don't have my ds charger, because I forgot it at home. And it's at half battery. I need to get in some playing before it dies.
But anyways, I'm working on having Riku marry each of the female characters. I've had him marry: Lissa Sully Miriel Sumia Maribelle Panne Nowi Tharja Olivia Lucina Flavia Anna Kjelle Cynthia Severa Noire Tiki Emmeryn Aversa
I still need: Nah Cordelia Cherche Say'ri
As you can tell, that's what I've been up to.
As for the female avatar, I've only had her marry Chrom.

So, Has anyone else here actually spent time grinding donnel? Because I did.... and I say it was worth it. Yeah, he's weak early on but Aptitude makes his stats skyrocket. I saw you too, Riku! I was hoping you'd return when I spotted you...and you did! Also...anyone here actually complete Apotheosis?

I haven't attempted it yet. I've been working on building up a nice sorcerer/aversa, Panne, Gaius, Walhart, Priam, and a few others. I've also been working on getting weapons from infinite regalia. I have a couple Ragnells, some Mercurius, and a Goetia or two.
