I've been considering the idea of buying Fullmetal Panic on DVD just so that I can turn around and demand Claxus my money back in case I don't like his current favorite show. Alas, being split into three seasons doesn't make it very easy to find at a reasonable price... if I want all the episodes, anyway.

I've been meaning to buy that too, and season 2 (plus the disappearance) is really easy to find at a cheap price. Season one though? Virtually impossible. Though they are releasing a deluxe boxset soon with everything Haruhi related (in terms of anime) in it... in Australia. Madmen are truly boss when it comes to localizing anime where they're located. Manga UK, the localisation company in my territory, are also really good but Madmen really do go above and beyond. So yeah I'd buy season 2 but most of it would be out of context and, well, the endless 8. It might be fun to invite a friend around to suffer through it with me I guess... I love the E8 so much, because I can be a masochist for boredom sometimes.

I liked the rest, but season 1 and Dissapearance were where the real meat of the story was. But definetly NOT the movie arc.

Ah, Tears to Tiara. It was a pretty nice anime... It was basically a good Fire Emblem anime (the heroes have an army and there's big skirmishes, but only a cast of characters actually matter) This is a battle theme that's played like three or four times. Needless to say, it makes those scenes so happy and inspirational. (If this seems too familiar stop and skip to the quote!) First play is in episode two when the shonen hero fights together with the demon king hero for the first time, bashing some skeletons while joking/talking smack to each other. That scene really gives the 'we taunderely accept each other as allies' and 'we're in for one heck of a lighthearted adventure.' The anime OP also has a scene with them fighting back to back fighting a crowd of enemies effortlessly as shonen hero tosses an apple over his shoulder to demon king hero who takes a bite. I like the song a lot, too, but the OP isn't on Youtube. Anyway, I love this song. One of the nicest battle themes out there. And it's not like just mentioning we like an anime ever makes anyone want to watch it, but I was just reminiscensing, and recommend it in the case someone ever stumbles upon it. Sounds like one of your claxmotional posts right there. Anyway, nice music, but I guess it's better in context. Lazy Claxmotional post is... Lazy. Ha, you thought this was a new long post to read through, didn't you! Oh no, a massive post! Surprise, only half of this is new and exciting. Well, Al's words echoing in my mind, I felt like logging that post here, and I've been having ideas fir posts here, and... Hey, outdated Haruhi discussion. I've been in my game shift lately. This is where I play games all the nights when I could watch anime instead. I think my anime switch may come around again soon. In fact, I'm watching a few episodes tomorrow at college, so there's that... But I stopped for a while at episode 7. Interesting if you watch it chronologically, because it feels like it's 'slice of life' with some twists for the remainder? Could be wrong, but the climax at the halfway point is for sure. Koizumi for MC. Oh, the OP is great. ... Oh, right, Tears to Tiara. Kinda already summed all of it up back there. It was very enjoyable... Almost felt like there was no main character. Demon king and shonen guy shared the 'hero' spotlight while all the characters had very active toles. You know, what I liked about it? It was the Claxus, and the Indigo. While Claxus is... Me. The Pit guy. Brown hair hero who's lighthearted and maybe a tryhard and kinda goofy and heroic but hard to take seriously. Well, that's Arthur in the anime. And there's Indigo... My alter ego. The white hair cool guy, confident and talented, but lighthearted as well. Born from my time on Monster Hunter Tri. Well, that's Arawn. Watching Tears to Tiara, was loosely like seeing my shonen and ego characters both starring in an adventure. Their roles and appearance fit those ideas pretty decently... Yeah, it's a big part of why I got into it. Actually, I tend to only watch animes depending on how much I think I'll like the main character(s). So, when the above song played with the initial meeting of the minds of Claxus and Indigo battling together in the beginning of their adventure, that's part if why I came to like the song so much. But on their own, the song and anime are really good. It's also based on a game. Japanese only of course. Pretty recently, a sequel came out, though with a new cast. Japanese only of course. Wish I could play it. Hopefully an anime is made of it, too. Now that I've shared a sufficient amount of new content... Free and Dream!Get on the free and dream! What's that mean? Well, time to dive in now! So remember when I mentioned the two heroes have a scene in the OP where they're just battling casually juggling an apple? It's this song of course, at the main chorus. And it's like fan service to my inner personas! One thing about this song... The end of the main chorus. It feels like it'd be perfect to hit that last high note of the scale... But it just ends so abrupt! Kinda depressing. But this song is really nice and catchy as heck. Get on the free and dream *bell chimes*! Tears to Tiara, anime of my lives. Yes, I do have an Indigo hidden somewhere deep inside waiting to awaken. And he's still searching for Sakuya, with reckless abandon. Get on the free and dream! Dunno what that means, but I'll go dream now because it's so late... Get on the free and dream! Time to dive in now! You shut up, I'm Indigo!

A lot of you probably know this one. Tears in Heaven:
Don't have a lot to say... It's a really sad song. It makes me wonder a lot about afterlife, or if there is any, and how those situations would be... Would I meet all the people I've wanted to? Would it be the same? Or would life simply move on without me? Heaven or hell, let's rock... For now, between the good and bad is where you'll find me reaching for heaven, and my lost loves that outnumber the stars in the sky.
And similarly... At Dusk, I Will Think of You:
From Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. This song specifically is a fan-made vocal version. A song about remembering and wishing for a friendship to be what it once was.

I've made it a point before that I love ska. It's so uplifting and carefree... Well, j-rock is also a great genre of music. Know what? I don't have to choose! Mecha Koi SSS:
This is one of the few songs I can't share much personal experiences with. Looks like it's from an overblown harem anime/visual novel... But yeah, it's an epic blend of ska and j-rock all in one. A strong beat, uplifting fast ska pace, j-rock style melody, and ska trumpets, all at the same time.
Come to think of it, there is a story behind this one, too... I found out about the song when someone sent me a link to it (the long gone (here) Taz) with the reason that it 'sounds like something I would like.' Couldn't be more true, he knows my love of ska well... I didn't even realize until recently the song name has Mecha and SSS(tylish) in it, is that destiny or what? Guess I kinda like kois too.
That should be a genre of music, really. J-rock-ska. But it's not... The closest thing is j-ska, which is a more j-rock influenced version of the American ska, but not to that extent. I've already posted on YUM!YUM!ORANGE in the past (a j-ska band), so here I'll bring in one of my other favorites! midnightPumpkin's TimeLimit:
A lot more cheerful than the previous one, as it's closer to natural ska. But this band leaks some j-rock sometimes. In this case, the main melody, and near the solo around the last quarter, it turns borderline heavy rock for a bit.
I bet no one can guess my favorite type of chocolate.

Continuing from last time... The second and final arc of j-rock-ska days. It's a scarce type of music to come by in this world... But not impossible. Well, there's j-ska rock, anyway, which is a thing... Though not quite the same as Mecha Koi SSS, that was like straight out j-rock trying to be ska. One of the earliest songs I've known is Like a Green:
Such cheerful and strong-spirited music. It's the second opening to Green Green. Which is another harem anime...
It hasn't been a super long time since I found that song. On the other hand, my first experience with ska rock that made me realize how much I love it was several years back... The first opening to Green Green. I remember I first heard it when trying to find a song from it, that I heard was from it... So this is it, the song that sparked my lova of j-ska many years ago! Guri Guri:
And with that, this arc has come to an end... So long, ska days. Until we meet again on Most Claxmotional OST...

The right to use my friend as a weapon. That is the sinful crown that I shall adorn.
Spoilers may be ahead... Maybe not. I'm keeping things as vague as possible anyway.
Here's a song you may be familiar with, My Dearest:
Guilty Crown was one of the first animes I ever saw, fourth, off the top of my head... I was strolling a list, and the name sounded interesting, and then so did the synopsis. The design looked good, too. Shu's my kind of character. I'll be honest, I looked up the opening, and part of why I ended up watching it was the visuals...
I'm all for watching old animes, like Gundam X that was drawn with crayons, but the production value aside, the visuals are just plain stunning. That's one of the reasons I'll always remember Guilty Crown. The environments are vibrant and beautiful, the characters, the dynamic camera effects, but most importantly, anything else that doesn't fit into that. By which I mean, all the flashy effects surrounding the powers in the anime. The digital trails and lights from the weapons, or at times, drifting in a white digital world...
Those abstract magical effects... This opening does a great job at showing it. It may be small details, but I think something about it all is just so memorable. Probably goes hand in hand with symbolism, like the part with Bios...:
A large part of the anime is symbolism. Sure, Shu takes weapons from people with lots of stunning visuals, but the huge black sword he wields is really more than a weapon. It's the very essence of someone's soul... Every weapon he wields is. I think that's something that many people take lightly. Using someone's very soul as a weapon that takes a physical form, or the physical form of one's soul in general, because not all are weapons. I think most of the fights in the anime reflect this. They're not flashy showdowns, but rather dramatic moments.
The first time he uses Inori's soul, it's a beautiful scene (with Bios playing). It ends with Shu standing amidst debris with flames all around, and it was here that I realized I was in awe of how wonderful it was, symbolic and breathtaking, I realized at that early point already that this anime was an adventure that would forever be one of my favorites and unforgettable. And so moving on, the episode where Shu loses it and forcefully uses Inori's soul is shown as rather sinful and chaotically destroying enemies... It's basically toying with someone's life. Shu is usually hesitant of using these 'weapons' unless they willingly submit. It's also a very interesting aspect to characters. We always have character development this and that, but a soul blade (that's a pun but I can't remember what exactly they called the power and soul weapons...) shows a physical manifest, the deepest level, of a character's personality.
Sometimes it's clear... Sometimes not so much. Well, the anime does most of the explaining for every character's form. But still, it's kind of interesting to think about why they take their forms in the bigger picture of things, because sometimes even if they do explain it, it can be interesting to see how that works with their personality (and there's the nameless people later... Like scythegirl where one could only begin to wonder why she, who we barely ever see, has that form...)
Is this a review all of a sudden? Maybe... But this, is The Everlasting Guilty Crown:
You know, I like to see the anime as a sort of symbolism to my own life. Think what you will... But throughout the anime I've felt a lot of close relations in metaphorical senses. There's the near-blind Inori infatuation, Gai as a role model, my best friend was a lot like Shu's (Souta, guy who opens stuff), a gone gone Hare, and dare I say... The takeover. For some reason, I really felt it with Shu there went he he just gave up, vented, and quit playing nice guy.
I could go on and correlate most things in the anime to myself one metaphorical way or another... But anyway, this opening is really good. The second season is quite a bit darker, and I just love how this song sounds so desperate yet upbeat. The little piano roll that plays constantly through the entire song is a little despairingly mesmerizing but hopeful.
The first half of the anime was quite an ending... Very symbolic with Shu using everyone's souls in a 'final mission,' while Inori sings a peaceful love song, and in the end all is happy. But for the second arc, this song fits the desperation of it quite well.
A lot of people come to hate the anime at this second arc , and Shu especially... Honestly, it took a long way for Shu to go darkside. It didn't happen out of nowhere, and it was in fact several other characters who forced him to that point. I felt very sympathetic the whole time, it was obvious Shu felt terrible for everything he was doing and saying, even almost having to let his best friend die... The scenes where he endorses Inori as practically the only reason to continue onwards.
I really only have two main gripes. I disliked what they did with that one guy coming back, and what Shu's certain relatives had to do with it. Mostly the relatives thing, though. I really dislike when an anime stretches so that 'secretly all of these people are related somehow and are important to the main story.' Okay... I have to say it. Anti-spoilers look away to the next paragraph... Why the mom and secret sister thing?! Even Gai coming back was fine, but why?! Shu is a normal guy and giving him some ridiculous insane-demonic-sister and a secretly-super-laboratory-agent-mom really just convulses things... Gai coming back as an antagonist was even good in a way, though, symbolizing of Shu having to fight against Gai who has become the exact opposite of what he looked up to (not like it was really him anyway)
Sure, the going darkside thing and stuff was frustrating, but that's the magic of it. If you were genuinely into the anime to begin with, it pulls at your heartstrings... The ending was also not the best, but in the end, I still feel it more than most animes. It really leaves an emotional impact when the ending turns out to not be completely happy. But it's the sum of everything and the morals throughout the anime, and isn't necessarily even bad, because there's a sense of enlightenment we're left with.
I'm going to leave it at that I guess. I could touch on many more points but that's the short version (*nod*). Dunno how I suddenly pulled an Al on here... But well, Guilty Crown was truly a symbolic adventure, maybe one of a little self realization, and with many very magical moments. Oh, I didn't mention, it has mechs, too... It's my third favorite anime. Actually, I need to reassess my anime list maybe...
There's also more very nice music, like the sad piano version of Bios that's quite emotional, or Hill of Sorrow... Back to the point of this topic!
Well, I wonder what all of our souls as physical manifestations would be...

For me Guilty Crown's main problem was the structure. I hear it went through a lot of writers for individual episodes, and it shows. The ending happens twice, characters flip sides often... I still really like this one though, can't say that this anime speaks to me with deep and insightful symbolism, though I wont discredit the symbolism, and otherwise I pretty much agree with everything you said.

I'll keep things short this time to make up for last time's overdose. But nonetheless Claxmotional music. Here's one I've shared before, but it deserves its place here. I'm Alive:
And between the good and bad's where you'll find me reaching for heaven. <-- My location as listed on this site. Well, the thing about this song is just that the main chorus really has a connection to its lyrics... There's this surge of power and energy and upliftingness. You're kickin' it and going through whatever life throws, no matter the negativity if it all. That's what the song's about. It's pretty dang catchy, too...
Here's a song from the Devil May Cry anime... The previous was used as an ending song for Black Butler which I'm still unsure of watching. Anyway, this may not be a song you'd expect from this series... Future in My Hands:
I always have some fond memories from this anime, one of the first I ever saw. Okay, I'll say it now, this song's lyrics are a bit engrishy at a few points despite it generally sounding normally English. Well... This song's not all that different from the last. Some similar vibes from the main chorus and similar themes in the lyrics, though with a bit more emphasis on shaping your own future.
The anime is a bit slice of life with demon hunting as the cherry on top. Well, I've mentioned before, every episode has its own clear-cut moral. This song is actually a central part of its episode's story. Naturally, the episode's about music, but also about a tragedy (related)... I'm just going to leave it at that now, but I think that episode gives this song a nice background to it... It also (probably intentionally) shows how an inspirational song like this can turn around the mood of any situation, dire or sad, for the better.
*Witty closing line* *Cue I'll Be Your Home ending song*

Oh! I remember the devil may cry anime... I actually had it on DVD at some point, I think. I didn't like it much though. *cough*
Oh, I remember I'm alive! I remember when you first posted that, I liked it so much that I decided to watch the first episode of Black Butler. I didn't like it much though. *cough*
Music is all good though. *cough*

Time for a new arc... Sorairo Days! Nope, no Sorairo Days here. Just [SkyBlue] Days in the sense of the ocean and sky. I've always been very fond of airships. Like, airships. Why? Well, it's a pretty big reason but that doesn't really matter, I think. Point is... This is basically One Piece music... For the most part. Because that's riddled with songs about sea traveling. Can't say I've ever seen it, but I love most of its openings and endings... Like Run Run Run! The first song I discovered from One Piece... About sailing away to a new adventure, but always being near. Guess it's really a love song at heart. But can't you just picture a bright sunny day sailing over the sky blue ocean and sky? Or ocean blue ocean... Anyway, upcoming is... The same song! It's the official dub from Funimation, and let me say that the dubs are pretty great. This is really the first version I heard back then, but it's always been too short. Still, the sappy and rhyming lyrics are like the song is secretly a poem, and gives the general idea of what the original Japanese song is about. And yes... That is Monster Hunter Indigo, trying to be in an ED. The Sorairo Days arc continues...

Somehow this keeps getting put off... I think about posting but always get sidetracked. Last time I was even posting that I always get sidetracked before getting sidetracked. So here's another song... Waaaaaaaaatashi ga Iru Yo!
I just realized this song actually doesn't seem to have any lyrics about sailing... It's like a full-on love song. But either way, it does have that adventurous, ocean song vibe to it... Actually, sometimes it reminds me of Kirby beach stages music... The chords and beat and stuff have that kinda thing going.
Again... Funimation dub. Which is more like, Ohhhhhhhh, You Got Me, Heart and Soul!
It was the second song I heard from One Piece's openings or endings... It's a nice song, very relaxy. The sky blue saga continues next time on <Topic Title>

I rather like the song. Sometimes it feels like a lot of anime like to have very sombre and boring themes, or overly peppy ones that I mostly dislike... I usually prefer exciting songs like the dangan ronpa ending. This one struck a nice, catchy balance.
It always feels weird to hear a dubbed song though...

Well, to keep things simple, have some dubs. Shining Ray:
I think I actually prefer the original version of this one... It's sung by Janne Da Arc which is one of my favorite bands. But the lyrics in English are too hard to pass up, they're done pretty well, lots of sailing-adventure iamgery.
And... A to Z!
Yep, there's another video of Indigo... And the sound quality kinda sucks. Anyway, remember Indigo's tale of Jhen Mohran earlier in this topic? No...? Well, this is kind of a memorial to that tale... So there, watch Indigo on a sandship! So, I just really love this song a lot. It's amazing. The lyrics are great... It's so catchy and upbeat. And I actually would say the dub is best.
Come back to your friends, Sakuya. Indigo carries the weight of the gunhammer in wait...

Why do I like this song so much? Well, I can't really say... By Siam Shade, Dreams: One thing's for sure, I spent a few years wondering what this song was. Back then, I found a midi version of this song on VGMusic. From the game... TomaRunner vs. L'Arc-en-Ciel something. All I knew is it was called Dreams... Not the easiest song to find. All searches ever came up with was just the midi. About two months ago, I opened the midi in a midi editor program, and sure enough, it had some comments in the track names, and I learned the band's name... So I found it. In the first place, the song just always stood out to me. It's a very lighthearted and airy feel to it. But the instruments in it are just great. The guitar riffs and chords, the bass, the percussion, the little synth sounds here and there. I'm still not really sure if I prefer the midi or the real version... The vocals as another instrument make it flow so well, as the instruments stand more on their own and you can really hear them. I'm going to leave the midi here in case you want a taste of its old school self. It's a very well done midi. Anyway, the lyrics to the song are also great... But I guess that kind of goes for pretty much every song I post, and they're not much new in terms of J-Rock. Well, I dunno, it's strange, in a way I feel like this is kind of a typical J-Rock song, but I've always really liked something about it, and was overjoyed to find its true version.
