So here's a pretty awesome song to go against my recent streak of slow/peaceful/relaxing/sad songs. Well, this song... I actually don't have much personal background information for it. I first heard it while playing Another Century's Episode Portable, as it's one of the mecha series' theme song, from Brain Powerd. I actually don't know much at all about it, but instantly fell in love with the instrumental version of the song playing in the game, and the style of the series' mechs. I remember it clearly, flying around over the ocean across many small islands in the cool blue mech, and landing at a supply station and noticing the awesome music while waiting to resupply...
Okay, apparently I do have quite a bit of personal background story for this one. But, besides the ACE games, I don't have much relation to what the song is really from, and stuff. Also, don't look up the lyrics to this song. And here it finally is.. The awesomely catchy song with awesomely high and energy-filled upbeat vocals, In My Dream:
So yeah... Something about this song is just so great. How it starts with a nice piano, then breaks in into a strong melody, with a super catchy chorus and... The singer, wao, she can seriously hit those really high notes perfectly, especially the final chorus... This song always makes me feel so hype. Wonder if it will be less liked, though, like the Spiral somg I posted earlier, due to high pitches... Welp, time to have this song in my head for the next whole week!

Not much to say for this song by Yum!Yum!ORANGE, except... "Tu tu tu tu tu di ya la pa pa pa, tu tu tu tu di ya lovely Daisy, I will sing this song for you my love":
"Gimme gimme gimme I want it, hey mommy, I got got it got it, oh yes"
You know, this whole song is in English... Well, I really do like ska music a lot. And this band is like... English J-Ska. Even if said English is rather funny and mostly incomprehensible. But ska is always so awesome and carefree-sounding, and Yum!Yum!ORANGE reinforces the happy side of it... I think they're one of the coolest bands. One of my favorites at least.
"Every time I see that, my cold heart gets warm"

Here's a super long yet great trance song... And a really cool AMV of Eureka Seven, where the song is from. Eureka Seven in 11 minutes... The song is Niji, which supposedly means rainbow:
You probably won't end up watching the AMV, but it's like a wave of memories of Eureka Seven for the duration of the song... It was a really great anime. But yeah, you'll probably just play the song on the background while reading other posts or something. The song also takes like two minutes to start its pace, but I think it's a nice, ambient song. If you've watched the anime, this song plays at a very climactic and beautiful part of the anime...

This song's pretty deep... Can you even say that without it being a joke? Anyway, I've loved this song for a while, but it's not until just a few days ago that I delved into what it comes from. Or rather, what it's used in. It's by Maaya Sakamoto, which apparently it seems a lot of songs I really like end up being by her. Otherwise, it's the first ending song to Kurogane no Linebarrel... Also known as Linebarrels of Iron. In short, a story of a young boy who's a bit of a wimp, but believes strongly in justice and believes one day things will change. Being an anime and all, he gets the power to control the amazing robot Linebarrel (and super physical abilities), and becomes a self-absorbed ally of justice who sort of thinks he can make things play out like an old super robot show. It doesn't take long before his lust for power corrupts him and brings him to levels of insanity, whether or not he means any trouble.
Personally, I think it's an excellent series so far, despite it being one of the worst received animes I've known (apparently it's also a terrible adaptation of the manga, but I think people just hate 'spinoffs'). I mean, the main character is supposed to be imperfect and just a power-obsessed 'ally of justice' guy who stumbled into a powerful mech, and kind of arrogant and paranoid or naive because he's been long known as a 'wimp' and hates how a lot of people take pity on him. I think he's a very understandable character, but the majority seems to think of him for only his negatives rather than why. I like how he wants to be a hero and yet ends up as an anti-hero/villain and goes crazy with his power. Story of my life... Not really. Anyway, how or why did this turn into an anime review/synopsis? Sorry for the wait. Here's one heck of a great song, Ame ga Furu:
The lyrics seem to be about lost love... And how meeting others can change us, as we look for new resolve. The chorus in the song is so powerful...

A song on the slow side... I think it's a really nice song. Sounds very relaxing and sweet. It was used as Demonbane's ED, and it's by Itou Kanako. Modern Rose: Just realized the singer is the same as the Steins;Gate OP, and other songs she sings with her highly recognizable voice, though I couldn't really tell until I found this alternate version... www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=taX3NC9RNmQ

I hate ending songs like that... They certainly sound nice and that one was one of the better ones, but honestly I feel like I could stitch them all together and get a complete piece that most not in the know wouldn't recognize as different songs. You could probably do the same for plenty of OPs I guess, but overall I think they generally have much greater variety.

Funny you say that, I was thinking about that as I posted. I realize a lot of slower ending songs can be very repetitive to each other, or very common sounding. Kind of like an FMA ending you posted at some point, it sounded very typical to me... Yet you said it's one of your all-time favorites. I think part of songs like this, though, is hearing them a lot, and possibly recalling memories, and not just from animes. I find that, at least for myself, I tend to make more emotional connections. Like, I may always remember an OP, but when I listen to these songs, I can sometimes recall what was going on in my life at the time, and around when I watched the anime with it.
But in my years in orchestra, I realized I never initially liked any of our soft pieces initially too much, but after playing each song to death as happens in music classes, they became much more memorable and nice, and tolerable to play for the 100th time.
On the other hand, anime OPs are generally fast paced songs, exciting and catchy, which is what people like to hear because... It's just exciting and catchy. Also more variety in style and basically more appealing overall. Some get pretty old though. But yeah, slow songs can sound very bread and butter or cookie cutter, and I also dislike to an extent when an anime goes for that ED song. But I find they tend to catch on if you sit through them every time.
Still, as for this song... I found it to be a bit more different. From the first time I heard it I thought it was very nice. I thought its opening piano was very simple yet memorable, and the main chorus just has this grand and airy feel to it... The parts in between are a bit 'generic,' though.

Yeah, I don't hate listening to them but ray of light, which I think is the song you are referring to, has plenty of energy to me. Maybe its because, as you said, when its the first time you listen to it and when its from a good anime at a nostalgic time in your life, you tend to look past any faults. Fullmetal alchemist had a pretty good variety in ending themes though.

^ Yeah, it was Ray of Light. It's a good song, and it does have more energy than I gave it credit for, but I dunno, to me it just doesn't really stick out much among ED songs of similar style. But, moving right along...
And also a little backwards, to Ragnarok Online again. Around two or so weeks ago, I came across this amazingly well done vocal/band version of 'Theme of Prontera,' and I believe it already deserves a spot in this topic. Just a recap, Prontera's theme is extremely nice and memorable... The first town's theme that acts as a central hub and capital city for the entire populace throughout the game. If you'd ever get to play Ragnarok Online, you would understand just how awesome Prontera is, along with its music that never gets old, and from what I've seen, the song is a massive nostalgia wave of memories...
As for this arrangement, I gotta hand it to them... HoneybeaT. They seem to be a pretty indie band, but the quality of this song is top notch. The lyrics are a bit cheesy, but I think it's a good direction for Prontera's theme. And so here it is, their superb jazzy arrangement of Theme of Prontera with vocals:
I feel like I've said Prontera too many times... I wonder if it's also worth nothing that the sequel to the previously mentioned greatest MMO ever just released some weeks ago. Haven't been able to get into it much as it's completely different, but Prontera's there... A very different looking Prontera (although not entirely redesigned), in full 3D, and without its original theme...

Today I bring... Some 80s-ish music. Truth be told, I'm actually very not-fond of older music. But these two songs are from the original Gundam series. I've never watched it, however, one of the Gundam games on PS2 used these songs, and I think they were really great. I'll be sharing some very nicely done English versions I found, as the originals are Japanese, and I find the lyrics to be a good part of these songs. They're pretty similar and accurate to their original counterparts, just slightly different instruments, and sound a bit more modern/English. The two songs, Encounter and Ai Senshi.
Encounter is a bit of a romantic classic, with a rather catchy main chorus. Yes my sweeeeet, yes my sweeteeeest~. And Ai Senshi is a more upbeat song, sounds slightly... Beachy or happy or something. But it's a song about war, and though the lyrics give a positive message, they're actually kinda creepily gruesome contrasting to how light the song sounds. Gundam rock!

Chiptunes really have their own little lighthearted feel to them... Here's a song I really love by LEENI, a vocalist who sings with chiptunes. A very sweet song... Headphones On Your Heart:
It's just so airy and sort of monotone yet melodic and soothing and carefree... And catchy. I also find the lyrics very nice, especially the main chorus.
"Make this song play on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on..."
Mission Acknowledged.

I'll have you know I'm a bit depressed right now... I had a post nearly done, but I when clicking to another tab for the video, I accidentally clicked one of the quick-link things right above it, and so this page went there, and the whole post was lost... Seriously, why'd they make it not save in this new Proboards. Anyway, gonna try to sum things up as well as I did before.
Another song that I didn't come across too long ago, but quickly has a found its place as one of my most memorable favorites. From Aquarion EVOL, it initially plays in the first two episodes (which actually aired as one super episode) when the 'forbidden Aquarion EVOL' assembles, and then when it takes off into the sky in a burst of golden light and quite literally pierces the heavens, tackling an enemy all the way into an asteroid in space. From then on, it's used as the opening song, or just in scenes whenever appropriate for much epicness. This song is a bit of a 'classic (at least to me).' In a Sorairo Days kind of way. As in, a really great theme I'll never forget, that I will instantly associate with the anime and all of my memories of it. I never actually looked at the name until now, but apparently, it was made just for the anime, like Sky Blue Sorairo Days. Kimi no Shinwa ~ Aquarion Dai Ni Shou:
I feel better now as I listened to it again and rewrote a very similar first paragraph pretty fast and remember the rest of the post pretty accurately as well Yeah... I know I mentioned it before, but I can't help but compare it to Gurren Lagann.
Strike-through'd part of that quote, as after having finished the anime, in short, it exceeded my expectations, with much more development and all. Also, right now I'd also add a few things to that list. Should have mentioned it before, but pretty early on the anime is about breaking through a 'forbidden surface,' or wall in this case. Closer on to the end, the anime also has themes about fighting against destiny (and some other stuff I'd compare near the end but that's too much spoilers.' But yeah... I thought it was a pretty great anime, and this song is just sounds classic and uplifting at the main chorus.
And I'm actually gonna throw in the ending song here, too, as I think it's quite a bit different from the kind of stuff you usually hear. Not really sure how to describe it... It's kinda spacy and beautiful, though not exactly slow, and a bit sad... Harmonic - 2. A pleasing combination of elements in a whole? Really, though, it's a very wonderful song... <misclicks by a centimeter and loses whole post> Gekkou Symphonia:
Hm... Maybe that whole post-losing issue was meant as a never-give-up or fighting-against-destiny thing.
Osore~ (Even in fear) Living your life, don't give up now, keep moving on, (I'll come for you over and over again)!

Whoa, it's been a lot longer than I thought since my last post... Guess it's had a lot to do with me having started playing Gundam Assault Survive recently, and wondering why I was never initially too interested in such an amazing game... Anyway, here's a song from Yu-Gi-Oh!. But Yu-Gi-Oh! doesn't have awesome music or anything! The series itself has some nice songs every once in a blue moon... But anyway, this song is from the first movie. Which is a bit odd, actually. The OST is composed of several vocal tracks, but as I recall, only one (maybe two) were used in the movie, and the rest were thrown into the credits (including this one). And without any more delay, The Great Pretender:
It's definitely one of my favorite songs out there... I love the lyrics, and the whole flow style of the song. I don't have much to say... It's just an amazing song. Kinda gives that feeling of what the lyrics are about. Being the great pretender, going through life, pretending you don't have a care in the world, and believing what you believe to the very end, no matter what the world around you is like or tries to make you believe.

Gundaaaaaaam! Macrooossss! Two of the greatest games to ever bless the Earth... or PSP. Both. Both are large crossover games where you go through different eras/series of the shows and have hundreds of playable mechs, from grunts to ace units, even stuff like planes, tanks, or warships. The games are like playing through the battles of each anime of the respective series, with custom/original pilots and wingmen, and basically, just massive Macross and Gundam fanservice games. The Gundam Assault Survive opening song is pretty nice, and gets you into the feel of an adventure of three pilots fighting through different eras of Gundam. The main part of the song is what gets me, though. Where it suddenly gets pretty upbeat. The game itself has some interesting progression, in that every era, you only start with grunt units, and many times you'll be pitted to fight against Gundam-level stuff that can kill you in just a few shots. Really feels like commanding your teammates and fighting strategically is key when you spend most of your time as grunts and are often outpowered or outnumbered. Macross Triangle Frontier is a different breed... Pretty shoot'em up from the start, unloading dozens of missiles to clear out waves of enemies and soaring across skies from the get-go. It can get seriously intense with literally hundreds of missiles on screen, and maybe half as many on your tail all the time. Dogfights with aces are super high speed and boil down to who can dodge endless missiles while getting in decisive blows. I really like the opening song, it's very fitting for a mech series based half on music and half on transforming mecha action. So upbeat it makes you wanna just super mecha fly into overdrive through the skies while blowing up hundreds of enemies on a bright day... Which you can. The world of Macross really is something...

It's been quite a while again, hasn't it? Actually, I haven't forgotten or anything like that, but... I'm really running out of ideas on what to post. As the name of the topic implies, this is where I post only the meaningful of the meaningful. To me, at least... Every time I think about this topic, I come up with a blank. Not that I don't have an arsenal of songs still waiting, just that I can't pull them from the deepest memories of the virtually infinite amount of thoughts in one's mind. And today, I remember a glaringly obvious song choice... And with that overly long post intro, here's today's song (I purposely don't mention the name until the very end [for great suspense] if you haven't noticed by now), . One of my favorites, that dates back to before I knew... What it was. I first heard (part of) it in a very long remix of songs (which I used in a big compilation video years back). If you really must know, here's the second half of that video. Ever since hearing that outro song of the remix medley, I've had that little tune stuck in my head from time to time throughout the years. Who knew just hearing that small part of the song remixed could be as catchy as the real song itself? Funnily enough, my second encounter with the song... Was not actually an encounter with the song. It was a time when someone I know urged me to go into a Blazblue friendlies livestream. Video's just a clipped part I uploaded of course. But, before I go on about this... Even though by now you should know the song, here it is: Reach out to the Truth! The day I actually heard this song was a nice day indeed. The day Persona 4 Arena came out. I popped the game in, and it was one of the most exciting new games ever. Doing the tutorial, the graphics, style, menus, music, everything was so amazing. But as I finished the basic tutorial, I moved on into training mode. Eager to learn Yosuke's moves and combos, I delved into the world of Persona 4 Arena immediately beginning my training on a new fighting game, and... It didn't take long for me to realize. "Wait a minute, this song sounds so familiar..." Now I face out, I hold out, I reach out to the truth of my life seeking to seize on the whole moment to now break away Oh God let me out, can you let me out, can you set me free from this dark inner world Save me the last beat in the soulWas it really... A full blown version, of that little song I thought was just a little exit song, and I've loved for years?! And so, it really was... A few days later, I went around Windows Explorer looking at some old files, I don't exactly recall what I was looking for. But there I found my clip of that Blazblue livestream. To my great surprise, that song kicks in about halfway in... I had never really watched or heard it, just had it saved (and of course, I didn't watch my own battle through the mainstream's custom soundtrack). And that's about it... However, I know this post's getting pretty sized up, but I have two more things here. Most of that I actually posted as backstory... So I want to add, this version of the song. It's a really good live version that I think has a little more 'full song' and feel to it. I just love that little intro segment just after the vocals, that gets played in the middle and end, too. And finally... An amazing version of the song I very recently found, that jogged my memory of the song, in a very pleasant new style. Eh, you guys don't mind how many times I posted the same song in this post, right? I mean, I sure don't. Reach Out to the Truth is one song I could listen to for the rest of my life, having it stuck in my had for all of eternity, and I would never grow tired of it.

Reach out to the truth is good, and I like its use in the final boss, but honestly there are far more persona and shin megami tensei songs that I much prefer. Like the almighty in persona 4... Also, did you seriously play persona 4 arena before persona 4? Have you even played persona 4 yet? Persona 4 is basically your perfect game. Ok, well, there aren't any mechs (actually I think an optional boss is a mech like thing...) but its easily the happiest Atlus game ever. I prefer the darker style but persona 4 is a damn good happy game. Defineately the happiest game about murder, ever. Unless Monobear's happiness counts towards Dangan Ronpa's tone.

Darn you, Neo Featherman... Yeah, that's the mech boss. And P4A really was my first (and only) Persona 4 game. I watched the anime, but never got around to playing because I can really only play it on emulator, which is an inconvenience.
Persona does have a lot of good music, though. But Reach Out to the Truth is the one that always stands out to me the most. Mass Destruction and Deep Breath Deep Breath from P3 are really good, and other songs from it, too. From the P4 anime, I really like Sky's the Limit and Beauty of Destiny, Ain't Nobody Can Hold me Down, and We Are One and All. Anyway, you're right, Persona 4 is a pretty bright game (or story at least), and I like that. When I popped P4A in, it kinda made me wish I could play through P4, with the P4 style menus and music and backdrops.

Kept you waiting, huh?
I don't feel like sharing many words tonight... But I heard this song again today and remember how much I loved it! It's been so many years... Blue Water Blue Sky!
I remember hearing this song way before I ever played Guilty Gear... Also takes me back to my original days of SDGO on the Korean server. I replaced the lobby music with this, and got hooked on that game for weeks, with just my crappy GM Sniper II... Well, I just love this song. So lighthearted, you can just imagine great times under the bright blue sky or near the ocean... Or on an airship!
I mean, Guilty Gear has some amazing music, but I've always loved the catchiness and bright mood of this song. Makes me want to go run around like in an anime opening.

Am I getting into the flow of things again?! Maybe not...
But I just remembered a great song! Partially because my original Kirus used a God Eater picture, and partially because he plays violin. What's this Kirus stuff? Well, if you don't know, you don't really need to know. But here it is, a beautiful song full of joy and sorrow, from an excellent game. God and Man:
You know, God Eater doesn't really have much to do with God or anything. It's just a fancy title. Most of the enemies in the game are named off Japanese myths, and extremely loosely based on them, but it's really more a game about fighting monsters/demons. There's also some passing references to them as 'gods' but it's really just certain characters overdramaticizing. Uh, yeah... Just wanted to clear that up, I guess. It's a great game though, with a good story. Really hoping the sequel gets localized, I've been playing the very-recently-released demo of God Eater 2, which is Japanese only but it's so amazing!
Oh, you might be wondering what a violin has to do with anything I've been talking about. Well, here's the same song, but a different version!

God Eater has some pretty great music. Even all the background/cutscene music is great. God Eater 2 will be coming later this year, too, and the music hasn't disappointed me at all. So, I'm gonna try and finish up my God Eater arc here. After all, next post is a brand new page! So first up, a very upbeat and inspirational song, No Way Back ~ Out of my Way~: Just imagine this song playing while you and three of your allies are out on an intense hunt against demons. Fighting for a better world! Next... Perhaps one of the most iconic songs from the game. It's the background track for the final battle of the game. It definitely captures the feel of the rest of the soundtrack, except, scaling the epicness to that of the final battle (P.S. it's actually only the first half of the game)! Deo Volente: Ah, I can get some chills from that one. But again, the rest of the game's battle tracks are also really good. I really love the orchestral style they go for. It's kinda hard to describe, but a lot of the other songs have similar vibes. And to top things off... The really awesome opening song. In the English release of the game, we only got the expansion version of the game, which had a remix of the previous opening. While the remix is good, it just can't compare to the original. So here it is, Over the Clouds! Man, that's such an amazing song. Love the little eerie tones when it starts and throughout, then suddenly breaks into a song with a super strong beat. And of course, the main melody of the song. And heck, I'll just throw this in at last attempt to show everyone the awesome that is God Eater while also posting the remixed Over the Clouds!
