First of all, I've beaten Tatsubei to dominating the music section! Not really, he can still post his topic that's completely differentAnyway... To not dominate the 'Music to share' topic, by popular demand as in just Steve's support, I've decided to make my own topic here: Most Claxmotional OST! Not much to be said... I plan to post one or two (or three) songs I really like (or rather, make me Claxmotional) here on a daily basis, based on a certain theme or style, along with a short or long comment as to why. And with no time to waste, I'll make my pace: Lunia... I really miss that game's good old days. When it was a story of three odd heroes, and this was its log-in music. Such a happy song. Fly Away: It was an MMO with a good story, and even... Credits with a pretty nicesappy love song... Lunia Credits?: www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4lL4Zk1Y6gUnfortunately, the game was bought over by another company and they changed the game for the worse. They took out a lot of story, huge chunks of every stage, and they couldn't even leave us the town to walk around in... But at the very least, they kept this feature in, you and your party members sitting by a campfire after every mission, and you could just talk and fool around or spar with each other before deciding to head back to the town or moving on to the next level, Campfire: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN-VfEXQZVgBut alas, even if the game still exists, it's still a mere shadow of what it used to be, and has huge issues with lag where I could barely even play solo. Cropped story, cut-out missions, the huge town turning into a sidescrolling hall of NPCs... It's way too dumbed down now, but at least there's memories of logging in to Fly Away in the times when I played through the story with my friends, and having a good relaxed time after every hunt by the campfire... And the ending song's lyrics describing good times lost. "I'll remember your pure heart, my love. Forever" I mean, Lunia's not my love, but the game sure was some nice times before Ijji made it impure. --- P.S. I don't mind discussion or if you reply with songs you like, either. So go ahead, it's more or less a sharing thread just dominated daily by me.

Last Exile... My first real anime, aside from morning cartoons and small glimpses of Inuyasha and Sailor Moon when I was a little kid ashamed to watch such animes for some reason. I found Last Exile DVDs in the library and it looked interesting, and thus I watched my first anime. Lots of nostalgia, but still an amazing series without that factor. An anime about the freedom of flying in the sky, with beautiful visuals... Well, there's too many great songs from Last Exile... I would really advice listening to some of the soundtrack, even the background music is great. Actually, I'll also make my next post on Last Exile, there's just too much greatness in the soundtrack. So to start off, the opening of Last Exile. To me this song's nostalgic values are off the charts... It just feels so retro-modern techno. I'm posting the TV version though, because the full song is really trance-y, as in really repetitive, so it's not everyone's thing. But also you shouldn't pass up on watching the wonderful opening video itself with the music. "Just keep flying, keep on trying, I will be the light." The awesomely titled Cloud Age Symphony: And next... This song... It makes me so Claxmotional. I remember I almost used to cry every time I listened to it back then... Almost. It's still one of my closest songs after all this time. Skywriting: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tedeOSbuMT4And the finale version of the anime's ending, that plays at the very end during a happy conclusion. It starts as an orchestrated version, but the vocals start at around 1:50, and it picks up even more in the last third. A really nice song... Over the Sky (Angel Feather Version): www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OJYhAVdjZo

Last Exile continued! Starting with a sad song... It has a bittersweet part around the middle, and then goes back to the first part with vocals. Lost Friend: I dunno what to say about this one... It just really has this cool, airy vibe, and it's pretty catchy. Head in the Clouds: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yJqCMlCohkAnd to finish things off with Last Exile, a really awesome upbeat celtic-violin melody... Sort of. After the first minute, the song turns into a really nice, peaceful melody. It's really contrasting, but it grew on me. A New World Has Come: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUecKlyfQEs

Well, I was going to make my post here and got distracted and forgot I didn't quite finish posting... Almost didn't make it, but here it is, Grandia III! It's a pretty fun game, about flying planes and fighting monsters and stuff. Yeah, another part of my early teen years about planes and the sky. I'd still like to be a pilot... Uh... Anyway. Here's a nice vocal song I like a lot, In the Sky, followed by the real classic orchestrated Theme of Grandia III: www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7gH_wfCUccSuch nice songs... They make me want to ditch mechs and go back to my obsessions with the sky, but... They go hand in hand, actually.

You'd think a series of games about a half-demon fighting is just that. And, it sort of is. It actually has good characters and a nice story, though... I'm gonna summarize it a bit, so spoilers incoming. Devil May Cry is about the half-demon Dante, who fights demons to protect the human world. His father, Sparda, was a legendary knight from the demon world who betrayed his world to protect humans, and he fell in love with a human, Eva. He sealed the gate to the demon world, but he ends up dying eventually. Later on, the demons attack Eva, but she sacrifices herself to save their twin sons Dante and Vergil.
Time passes and the two live their own lives, Vergil becomes obsessed with power. He wants to return to the demon world to unleash their father's power, and will do anything to do so. Might controls everything, and without strength you cannot protect anything, let alone yourself. They both have half of an amulet from their mother, and Vergil battles Dante for the other half, as a key to the demon world.
After losing the amulet, Dante continues to find Vergil, and along the way meets a girl who he calls Lady, who is also fighting demons, but she despises him as he's part demon. Later, Dante and Vergil battle again, but are interrupted and find a new common enemy. The two team up and fight as if they've always fought together, but at the end they still have their final duel in the demon world where Dante wins. Vergil comes to acknowledge Dante, and tells him to escape, as he dives down into the depths of the Netherworld. There, he finds the ruler of the demon world, Mundus, whom Sparda fought and defeated, and believes he can do the same, but in his weakened state the outcome is obvious...
After everything has returned to peace, Dante meets up with Lady after the final duel, and she claims that he's crying. Dante retorts that it's just the rain (which had already stopped), and that devils never cry... Blatantly false of course. Lady then finishes with a monologue, realizing that some humans can be as evil as any demon, yet there are some kind and compassionate demons. She's found a so-called devil who was able to shed a tear for those he cares about... Dante opens up his shop, naming it Devil May Cry, a shop that takes on requests to help people and slay demons.
That's just the beginning of the story... And that was kinda tl;dr... But still, I think it's important to know the background of the games, because they really do have a lot more meaning than 'action game.' Dante is a confident demon hunter, but he really wouldn't hurt anything that's not a demon, not even a butterfly... He's just a good guy who enjoys pizza all the time and goes to bars to order strawberry sundaes. And now... The music. First, this song is kinda on the heavy side so (I know it's not everyones' thing), but the lyrics are all about living a righteous life, if a bit crude. It starts very 'church-like,' a bit dark and sappy, then the heavy part kicks in, and the later half of the song kinda combines the two. Devils Never Cry: And this is from a later (fourth) game, where Dante is more of an adult, and actually a side character. Won't really summarize this one, but it's about another part-demon named Nero, who shows some relations to Vergil. He fights demons, Dante helps, and he aims to protect the girl he loves, Kyrie... Who also is the singer of this song, Out of Darkness: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXk2XGGkD-YThis next song is the main theme of DMC4. It's another heavier song, and has much more crude lyrics about fighting demons... But just at about halfway, the song completely changes, into a border-line cheesy song of fighting to make a better world. I think the song as a whole perfectly fits the games, games about over-the-top action fighting demons, but deeper in is actually a nice, good-natured story. Shall Never Surrender: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0H1RToc0WgYAnd I'll break out a fourth song now, just to finish up... This instrumental piece plays at the end of DMC4, after Nero saves the human world, and Kyrie, and they have their little sappy romantic moment and all, with Dante passing on Vergil's sword to Nero and taking his leave. If you got the last two songs I posted memorized, this song is actually a medley of those two. "Kyrie... If I’m a demon and not a human anymore… Is this what you want…?" "Nero, you’re you. And it’s you I want to be with… I don’t’ know anyone who is as human as you are." La Vita Nuova: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysEThfBgTEUClosing comments...? Well, I hate the new DmC game. It takes out everything good about the series, minus the action. Dante is a generic emo teen who curses left and right, insults like a kid who just learned to curse unlike the original Dante's witty quipping, the game is much more violent and bloody, the demons are disgusting-looking (DMC1-4 generally had cool enemy designs)... The story with Sparda, Mundus, Eva, Dante, and Vergil is kind of there... They're all completely different and the story's really tacked on and butchered. It's sad, really... They even butchered the gameplay itself. The characters and world are all so grungy and it just lacks all of the charm of the original series... And, thanks to anyone who actually read and/or listened to all this.

Devil May Cry...I never really liked it; and so many others seem to. Story's nice, sure, but DMC played just...weird. Outside of the cuscenes Dante just became much less badass. It's got these flashy cutscenes, then bland gameplay. Oh, and don't even get me started on the monstrosity that is DMC3...and onwards.

The first two are pretty bland overall (second one especially), really. No argument there, but seriously... DMC3 is where the series really started. That's where Dante actually got a real backstory, where he became extremely over-the-top, where the gameplay became SSStylish... I mean, it's fine that you don't like it, but the unanimously-agreed-on-best-game-in-the-series, a monstrosity?! That title goes to the new DmC... Just, tell me, why do you think DMC3 is so bad? Your own opinion is fine, but I'm just curious, since it and DMC4 are amazing games to me. Honestly, though, while it's also a matter of opinion, I have to say you're wrong about the bland gameplay... It depends on how you play it, you should look up DMC3/4 combo videos, they're the one of the most over-the-top action games you'll ever see, it's so free-form and stylish, and takes much more execution than any fighting game's most difficult combo. Of course, playing stylishly is optional, but if you do, flowing any attack into another how you want to make your own combos with tons of over-the-top attacks at your disposal... It's really incredible. Even going beyond how he fights in cutscenes. Well, here's my favorite combo video for DMC4. It's really long, so I don't want you to watch it all, but skip around to a few parts, many of the parts around halfway and after are really good and show just how crazy you can get with the gameplay. It has a drawn out intro though, so you really should skip. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKIq2U5p1LQDMC3 didn't age very well graphically considering its sequel, but the gameplay is very similar, and has more weapons and Vergil with his awesomeness. So I'm going to also share this video in DMC3's defense, but don't really care if you watch this one.

^My bad, I checked; I confused it. I'm not a big fan of any of them, but the newest one was the monstrosity. I mean, the word f**k was pretty much thrown around every two seconds. Someone should LP that game JUST to make a swear-counter. And mind you, in my post I said DMC3 onward. Not just DMC3.

Well, if you meant the newest one (DmC) is the monstrosity, then what did you mean for DMC3 and onwards? I know you said onwards, thus I also mentioned DMC4 with a video. But still, you don't like them, then? I thought it only went uphill from DMC3 to 4... Why don't you like them?
And seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if someone already counted that somewhere... but, despite my original reaction to DmC, I actually did try to give it a chance. I tried to look past all the cursing even, and the dumbed down gameplay that doesn't even have taunt, or a lock-on. I regret it... The game only gets worse and worse from my original thoughts. It's like every scene is meant to be as bad and unappealing as possible, and there's no redeeming qualities to this new Dante to all of his stupid antics. I got sick of it, it was like playing as a random high school kid in my classroom who randomly happened to get a bunch of demon powers... Even during the gameplay he curses like crazy. And the gameplay is much more bland as there's a much smaller moveset and almost no canceling.
Then they try to tack on these depressing emo moments where he goes down memory-lane and regains memories of his wonderful mother and father, and it's oh-so sentimental... But then you realize he's still a punk, and apparently so does he, as some demons appear and he says "****ing demons" and goes back to his grungy self.
Of course, DMC3-4 are the total opposite, with nice characters and a good story, and more stylish gameplay... So it's sad that they rebooted the series into DmC. At least, it's not related to DMC at all... I just wonder why they tried to give it the same name.

Like I said; It was an error; I don't dislike DMC3-4 any more thanthe rest of the series...but I don't like the series that much in general. If I want a beat-em' up, I'll pick the game that playsmore smoothy; No More Heroes. Not no more heroes 2, that final boss is beyond normal hatred.

Fair enough. DMC can be pretty choppy with all the canceling, but it also allows almost any move to chain into any other to make your own combos, which is why I like it. I never got around to playing No More Heroes, though, but it looks pretty cool. I'm just not a fan of the localized version... I know it's weird, but I'd really prefer the EU/JP version, where people drop coins instead of spewing blood.

Ragnarok Online... Definitely one of my greatest memories. The most open-ended, free adventure/exploration MMO I've ever played... With a very nice anime style to it, a 3D world with 2D sprites and it all fits so well with good, memorable designs. But even more is its huge soundtrack, where everywhere you go has a good song. This is one of the nicest songs in the soundtrack... It plays in the town you go to after you finish the tutorial, where the adventure starts, basically. And it continues to be a main hub for the rest of the game, always full of people and business... The peaceful capital city, Theme of Prontera: This song is in a different part of Prontera... Outside (and inside) of Prontera's castle. Usually a quiet place, every few days or so there are huge PvP battles between players in order to take control of the castle. The music is lighthearted, yet with an awesome powerful melody and bass. This song is just so awesome... Wanna Be Free!!: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PNgdMcQprsAnd I'll close up with a very nice piano piece... A theme that plays in the flying islands village of Gonryun. Many small islands floating in the sky connected by bridges, and a large island in the middle. A sea of clouds below... Not So Far Away: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6mE0IaZTN0I can't really help it... I think I'll be posting more Ragnarok Online songs for at least the next two days.

Today, a taste in the ambient music of Ragnarok Online... The sort of music that plays as you travel peaceful plains, forests, mountains, rivers... And, starting today... I'll only embed the first song of each post. As nice as it is to just have songs play on the page, the pages become so stretched, and even lag quite a bit when you first load the page due to so many videos. I also formatted the older posts to a neater format I'll be using from now on. So here's the first one, a song that plays when exploring the fields of a peaceful forest... Peaceful Forest: Another song with a similar style... But much more energetic. Tread on the Ground: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsZNkRyxwHsNot all of the field songs are just ambient, however... Some places have some pretty good catchy melodies. This one's pretty peppy and happy. Yuna Song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6qimzmATPAYeah... Ragnarok has a huge and great soundtrack, it's hard to pick just a few songs... There's all kinds of music, too. Rock, techno, alternative, songs that fit environments like deserts and water and eerie places, dramatic music in epic places, an airship theme... So, I guess I'll try to pick a final wave of songs to finish up with Ragnarok tomorrow.

I was typing this up when I was interrupted and was forced to retire for the night... So here it is, yesterday's post. I guess I'll just post again way later today. Ragnarok Online's whole soundtrack is awesome... How do I choose just a few last songs?! I could probably go on posting songs from it for weeks, but I'll reach out for a conclusion here... Another example of the music from the towns of the game... They all have their own style and memorable melodies according to their location. This is the merchant port city, a bright city by a harbor with many buildings, always full of merchant players. The lively merchant port city... It kinda sounds like it'd be from Super Mario Sunshine. Theme of Alberenz- Alberta: I kinda really wanted to post Alberenz-- Aldebaran's theme, and Lutie's theme... But I'm gonna up with a little more diverse music than towns. This song plays in a dungeon inside the Yggdrasil tree. Pretty exciting as you fight through to the depths of an ancient tree. Retro Metro: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow6uQyPlXygRagnarok's full of upbeat music, even as you hunt aggressive monsters out for your blood... One Fine Day: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpjUvEnViOYAnd lastly... A song that plays in Nameless Island. Whether that's its true name, or... it's really just nameless, well, who knows. It's a quest that starts in a beautiful island... Yet, the song seems slightly off at times doesn't it? As soon as the night falls, the beautiful island becomes infested with undead... This song is the perfect portrayal of a beautiful island with dark secrets. It changes tunes a lot, it's kind of an emotional ride of a song... Such was Ragnarok Online. The song, Good Morning: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OACJpCAXADUI'm kinda happy Ragnarok Online 2 is in the works, even if it deviates so much from the original...

Hey, Tatsubei's dead or something...
Since I posted four songs off schedule... I'm just gonna go with one tonight. It's the only song I really know from the game anyway. From Final Fantasy IX. Melodies of Life:
It's just a really nice song, and I like the lyrics... I guess it's one of those songs that takes you back, even if you have no actual memories with it.

Dark Cloud 2 was a great game with a great soundtrack... My favorite song from the game... Such a nice song and lyrics. It also comes in two versions, but they're very similar, to the point of even sounding good when played at the same time. I'll post both, but you don't have to bother listening to both. Time is Changing: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVpyPos0VqkMuch like Ragnarok Online, the towns in Dark Cloud 2 have great songs. Here's one of them, Veniccio: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEq5fUZOO68And the game has its share of relaxing music. This song plays while you're fishing... You could listen to it for hours. At least I can. Peace of the World: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv2lLu6B-24It was a really fun game... An action-RPG with dungeon-crawling, recieving materials to for new weapons for your two characters. The main character's main weapon is a wrench... It's weird yet cool, and later in the game you can develop the most awesome-looking combat wrenches ever. Oh, you also get to build a mech and parts for it to take in combat... About half of the game is outside of combat, too. You'll be doing stuff like quests for other people in the towns, building things... You can also take photographs, and taking pictures of monsters is actually necessary to build some things. And, you actually get to build the towns... Of course, the basic land of the towns are predetermined, but part of the game is developing these towns, placing all of the buildings (shops, houses, etc.) yourself, where you want. It's cool to make the 'blueprints' of the towns yourself, which then play out like a normal RPG with NPCs and stuff. I never beat the game, actually... It was my brothers' game, so I never got to finish it with him and his selfish ways, and he ended up selling it... It was great, though, and had a good story involving time travel.

Dark cloud 2! I remember that game. I got sick of it! Reached the final dungeon then got so ored of the repetitive dungeons and I eventually realised that I didn't care enough about the story either. What really got me in a twist too was that the building mechanic for the final area had to be SO EXACT and you were working off pictures from really strange angles, and, well, memory. BAH! Still the bad guy was named Sirius so that's a plus, but sorry all in all I didn't like this game.
As for the music... it's nice but where in the game is it? I don't remember it. The credits theme I guess.

It does play in the credits... Both of the credits. Basically, at the very start and end of the game.
Back then, along with just not being able to play the game that much, I just had a weird way of playing it... I used to spend time just running around the town, fishing, staring at the aquarium case you could make for fishes you caught... Just like I used to play Final Fantasy 7 on my brother's file just to run around with Chocobos and around the amusement park place... Occasionally I did the actual dungeons but yeah, I never did get too far, but I remember how fun it was. And believe it or not, I actually didn't like the Ridepod... My love for mechs came after, so I'd really like to play the game again to enjoy it to its fullest, along with the customizable mech aspect.
I don't have a PS2 now, or a PS3, so I can't really play it. I guess I didn't get to see just how repetitive dungeons were, actually I was too dumb to even build Balance Valley properly to move on, if you remember that. But was it so bad? I mean, you have two characters with two customizable weapons each, and a customizable mech, all of which you could switch on the fly. I just don't think it was very monotonous compared to certain other RPGs and action RPGs. Well, it's not bad or anything if you didn't like it.

This is a song from an MMO opening... I dunno, I don't have much experience with the game, RF Online. I played it for like an hour, but to keep this short... It was just weird. Still, it's pretty strange that it had a pretty long CG opening with such a sappy love song... It seems so out of place, but it's so beautiful ;-; So, the song is One: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QD8FVIKQEL8 I think it's a bit in similar style to Time is Changing and Melodies of Life...

You've been wondering what happened to this in the past two days, haven't you? Well, the past two days, I was... In other words, dude, I totally meched out recently. ... Really, I mean I've somehow been highly entranced in a state of playing old mech games that somehow felt as awesome as the first time playing. It started with Macross Triangle Frontier, and then I started playing Armored Core and came up with revolutionary new controls that hardly make the PSP a hindrance to control the game and created a great mech design with balanced speed and solid/energy/missile weapons, and I played Danball Senki W and made these awesome custom bots... And, a new mecha crossover fighting game (with toy models from various mecha series rather than actual mechs) comes out in two days! Even if it will be just another Valentines on my own... I'll have Battle Robot Damashii with my PSP. I also came up with some prototype mech names for future designs. Gundros, Kyraiser, CitruStar, CherryRose , Cherubot... Oh, that's assuming that like, anyone cares or something... So... To continue Most Claxmotional OST and not Most Claxmotional Mecha Gaming Tales, it's time for some Final Fantasy VIII! It's a game I pretty recently played through, and I'd say it held up very well for a PSOne game, the visuals were very smooth and beautiful at some places. Well, this is not going to be a game review, but everything about it led it to instantly become one of my favorite RPGs, with nice graphics and art, very nice soundtrack, and a very sweet story with great characters. First, this song is one of the first experiences in the game, and you'll constantly hear it throughout the whole story. It's essentially the place you'd call home, and it sure sounds like 'home sweet home,' doesn't it? It sounds so classic at 1:16... The very fancy, yet home-like and peaceful military school, Balamb Garden: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eU0tRBHnE0One of the most memorable scenes... At least to me, I find this to just be such a nice and unforgettable moment in the game, and throughout gaming history (maybe not just from watching the clip, but from the game as a whole...). It's pretty early in the game, so it's not much of a spoilers scene, but also a large factor attributing to this scene is the song. Such a classic... And memorize the melody, if you will, for me... Waltz for the Moon: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlfH3r780SoThere's a point around halfway in the game... Where everything becomes really hectic, with chaotic events one after another, where it's almost like a crazy dream. Eventually, everything suddenly comes to a halt as you end up in a seaside town. This part was just so amazing... It felt like waking up from a bad dream, you're greeted by some very kind people, and walk around the beautiful, peaceful town. Most of the NPCs talk about values about life, or about their nostalgic pasts, happy and sad memories, and optimistic ideology... And there's also a theme about how the world needs both people like soldiers and preachers. It's something I'll never forget. Of course, the finishing touch is this really peaceful, nostalgic song. Fisherman's Horizon: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMYisFOaz1sYou probably noticed that the big embedded video was all the way at the bottom this time. Well, I think it's best to leave this song for last... It's a beautiful song, so sweet and befitting for the tale and love story of Final Fantasy VIII. If you actually did memorize the tune to Waltz for the Moon, this will be familiar. It does have a few other renditions in the game, but this is the real version with vocals, Spoilers: which plays when the hero jumps into the depths of space aimlessly in desperation to save his true love. The song, Eyes on Me: What a Claxmotional game it was... Now I feel so melancholy... I don't even want to play mech games.
