Yep, it's the only localized version of the game. It's the same with balancing changes and stuff, and of course tons of news enemies and equipment. Also a continuation of the story from the 'final boss.'

Also a continuation of the story from the 'final boss.' So it wasn't localized in north America? Or is that the north American version turning up on a european only site... That is... very odd. It will probably be a while but if one person brings up a game a whole lot then that has got to be a testament to it's staying power.

Uh... I said it was localized. Gods Eater Burst is like an expansion sequel to God Eater. We never got the original, but we got Burst. Also, last time I checked around last week, Gods Eater Burst was free with playstation plus. If that's still a thing and you have playstation plus, you may be in luck. But, we're two sides of a coin. I'm Naegi, you're Monobear. You're Relius, I'm Carl. You're mastermind, I'm shonen. You're <insert dark anime>, I'm Busou Renkin. I think it's a game that may appeal to you as well, but just keep that in mind. The story's pretty good, but it's actually pretty lighthearted too. It's actually a bit like Monster Hunter in a Persona world... Oh, two characters that are pretty close to each other are the same voices as Kamina and Yoko, and you'll find their personalities even resemble them a bit All in all though, if you think you'd like a demon-hunting game with actiony and challenging gameplay and lots of customization, along with a post-apocalyptic story based highly on the characters, you'd probably like it. Buy a PSP and we could play it online!

God Eater has an online mode?
Anyway I like the shonen stuff too, usually, so I'd have no problem with playing a game with that kinda story... so long as the villain's good. I actually consider myself more a... Just read the first chapter of DR2 and you'll understand why my profile pic is my profile pic.
Since we're on the subject, if I were ever to gain enough power to be the antagonist to the world, I can think of few better people to be protagonist than you, Claxus. Just seems so perfect. I dunno why I said that but... whatever. I should check my PSP ASAP.

Ah, you saying that makes me heartwarmy. Being a shonen main character is the (dream) story of my life. We totally need our own story, dont we? But also while I'm here... Time for the next update! Going along with this discussion, an awesome song full of heroic adrenaline! This song, from Busou Renkin which I had just mentioned in passing, the very essence of shonen! Makka na Chikai!
Man, this song can really unleash your hot-blooded courage! It's so dang exciting and harmonic and happy and upbeat! With all your heart, embrace your destiny of protecting what's precious to you. That is your blood-red oath!
Well, continuing the discussion, God Eater doesn't actually have online. However, there's a way if you mod your PSP (it's as simple as downloading and dropping files into your PSP memory stick). Some cool guy made an 'app' for the PSP to play games online by kind of forcing local play to detect an online server. Most games don't work with it, but it was made specifically with GEB in mind, so yeah. Unfortunately it can be real finicky to set up, it needs a router that will work with it and some settings. Anyway, playing it online is more of a side thing, just PM me later on if you ever get around to playing the game and want to give it a shot.
For the game's story though, it's not necessarily shonen. I mean, you can make your character look older and have a badawesome voice and all. Your character has tons of small talk in gameplay, but plays the silent hero in cutscenes. But all I really meant is that it's a bit cliche, and is more about the hero band of characters (and great gameplay), than any antagonist or dark themes. So you might not like it as much if you set expectations up to my praise.
Still, listening to Makka na Chikai again seriously just got me into a fighter mood... I think I may pick up Blazblue again later or tomorrow. By now I have tons to relearn... Actually, I might give Guilty Gear a whirl, too. Almost forgot about that +R patch. *Blocks out thoughts of upcoming games ever since Spider-Man Web of Shadows*

Vandread's been one of my favorite animes... A mecha anime that starts out with two worlds at war. A planet of men and a planet of women... Three guys get caught up as a band of female pirates take over their ship, and a story ensues where they learn they're both not all that different, and work together against a new common enemy, developing trust and feelings along the way... Trust:
I think that's quite a memorable song. It's not really outstanding... It's just it sounds so memorable and nostalgic even though it's brand new to me. It fits the whole adventure of trust and bonds and male-planet mechs combining with female-planet ships and everything. But this other song hits the sweet spot for me... It's hard to put into words, but it's like a song straight from the heart. I would actually post the ending itself to keep things short, but it's actually kinda... Ecchi. Interestingly enough, the first ending's the only part of the entire anime like that. But hey, this is the star of this post, so might as well go with a full version featuring lyrics. Himegoto:
Yeah, I posted that one before... And this upcoming one, too. A stylish rave of a song in the name of Justice! Fight for your justice... It's an awesome song and fits great with the show. Aside from tons of character developments and relationships awkwardly blooming between males and females foreign to each other, probably the main message of the anime is 'proving your existence.' Becoming a man of your own words, not just following what others have taught you. Self realization, and fighting to live on to create a future with your friends, to prove and leave behind the mark that you're alive and share it with others.

A bit of a different post... Two OST songs from two animes that captivated me, despite not being extravagant or anything. First, from Full Metal Panic!, Bakufuu wa soyo Kaze no Youni (Yeah I copy-pasted that): It's a very simple song... But it's just so peaceful. I always think back to the moment it plays in the anime. Basically, it goes from a very hectic moment featuring speeding downtown on a bike for crazy comedy reasons, and then, taking a 'shortcut,' suddenly a beautiful scene hits you in the face, now riding through pure green, grassy, windy plains and birds soaring overhead. Still, I just find it to be an extremely peaceful and relaxing song that can remind you of the nicer side of life. And next... A song not a whole league away. Another peaceful background song. Actually not on Youtube, so here it is, Ima wa Oyasumi wo: puu.sh/50J0L.mp3It's pretty ambient, but has a very nice main melody. After all, it's the main melody of the opening song, You Get to Burning. If you'd ever watch Martian Successor Nadesico, trust me, it's one of the catchiest themes ever that will grow on you. Can't say much for this song that hasn't already been said... I can't say for sure why I like these two songs as much as I do. Besides a particular moment in the anime that comes to mind. Guess there's something about the slightly aged and simple melodic styles they have that can ease any soul.

You've got to appreciate the nicer tunes every once in a while. Thanks. Still, I usually find them more forgettable than most which is why I rarely post them.

Ever heard a song of pure discord and chaos, formed into a melody that exudes a final chance of hope? I know some of you have... Magia:
From Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I would post the full version, but really, the ending animation just fits so perfectly. I'm not the only one who gets chills from this song, am I? Especially with the animation. Chaos, distortion, darkness, everywhere... But wandering past your heart's despair to grasp the last chance at the end. Well, that is exactly what the song is about, and it sounds just like it even if you don't know what they're saying. It's a pretty incredible song.

I love this ending. It seems to be about Homura and her despair at being unable to save Madoka and her friends. It is also a fantastic contrast to the opening.
Did you find this, Claxus?

Not really. I come up across her dubs often when I search for dubs. Sometimes I like them better, but I'm gonna have to go with the original here... Something about the tone of the voice just sounds so right. I guess... AmaLee sounds too nice? But I just came across this from that video. Departures:
I always mean to post it here... I always forget and never get around to it. And it sounds a lot better with English lyrics... Only thing is I really liked the subbed first line, 'These days you love me no more, nor am I still treasured by you.' Nevertheless, I really love the translated lyrics here. Well, it's one of those soft songs that are all alike. A love song at that. But this one has always been so unforgettable to me. It's one of those songs that always bring me bittersweet memories...

Hey, it's been a while. Oh well. Here's one of the songs of my soul, SHONEN NO HAATO!
This is actually a really cool edit the uploader made. Some sort of mashup, though it sounds exactly the same except with a much stronger and stylish beat. It's awesome, and the only version of the song on Youtube not muted. Unfortunately it's not the full version, either, though... Anyway, the song's also known as Shonen Heart.
This kind of music isn't generally my favorite, but this song is just plain perfection. I mean, it's so stylish! It's a very melodic rap, and SHONEN NO HAATO never gets old. SAKA SOU, SAKA SOU SAKA SOU MEMORY WA YOU GOTTA REMEMBER. Anyway, the lyrics are good, too. There's an English fandub of the song that is surprisingly accurate to the lyrics while retaining the fluidity of the song. It's not top notch quality, but actually pretty good if you can put aside the guy that shouts the background verses. (WHAT!)
So yeah, good lyrics. Inspirational and shonen. Did I mention this is an opening to a show where giant robots surf through the air on boards? And the way that opening ends is amazing. Nirvash dodging macross missile massacre, then cuts through a mech with its boomerang, flying through the explosion, and spins out of it while catching the boomerang and poses on cue with the end of the song. And shines. Nirvash is the best thing to have ever blessed this world.

I was about to post this in the Music to Share topic... But I figured I actually love these songs enough to post them here. I almost forgot about this topic. That's kinda sad. Vocaloid music can really be pretty powerful... The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku: This one gives such a 'desperate' feeling, like it's really the end... It starts with the sound of happy memories, and the end is really... So empty feeling that it's rather creepy and sad. And, Megurine Luka's Corruption Garden: This one has a heavy rock feel to it. Note, it really starts at 0:44 if you want to skip the monologue. Well, it's just a great song. The lyrics are very dark... And basically emo? But that's something that can be well-done (appealing to those sorts of emotions and not just whining), and this song is amazing at pulling it off. It's just a powerful song, heavy with a strong beat and lyrics chock-full of symbolism. Really, you could paint pictures of those lyrics and it'd be some real deep stuff. Did I mention the video is also partially a mecha story? I forgot about that while posting it, but that's a huge plus. It has some cool mecha CG and... Some cliamctic battle between sisters with quite a mechmazing solo. Oh, adding real quick about painting pictures of the lyrics... The song has two built in. I just absolutely adore these two clips from the video, for some reason. First. Second.

Tomorrow!
Full Metal Panic... It was just such a nice anime. Well, I could say it's my favorite anime. On the surface, it's about a young soldier who's only ever known a militaristic life, but is sent into a high school to keep watch on a girl who might be a target to terrorists. What ensues is mecha action, high school, comedy, drama, and romance. A bittersweet adventure with never a dull moment.
Something about this song instantly became an unforgettable to me. It definitely highlights the peaceful days of the anime, it sounds so carefree... But after looking back to it, it just seems so perfect for the first season in its own way, it was full of memorable highs and lows... But the song itself is just wonderful. I love the upbeat main chorus. The lyrics are about searching for the meaning of our lives and welcoming the new every day with those close to you.

Full Metal Panic is an anime I just can't go anywhere without hearing about it anymore. I don't know, I've yet to watch it, and I might. That opening is pretty nice; very relaxed and not "despair'y." Mentioning of which, I've been reminded now by myself to respond to that conversation 5 months ago. Al is the psycho-but-charismatic and evil Antagonist, Claxus is the shonen, heroic Protagonist (a bit too smart for that though.) And I'm that friend of the protagonist who gets to be comic relief but ends up dying a warrior's death to really tick off the hero for that final showdown. Yes, it fits perfectly.

I'm not sure if you meant to have all those negatives in your first sentence... Assuming you did, you're saying you never hear about it anymore? From what I know, it used to be one of those really popular animes back then... But I rarely hear about it these days now. And while I'd say the opening fits perfectly, the show does have quite serious moments in the plot.
I don't think shonen automatically means dunce, though, even if it's common. Some are pretty reasonable. But you'd be saying otherwise if you saw my generically shonen low grades.

I hear fullmetal panic is the rare instance in anime of a jack of all trades. A little bit of comedy, a little bit of drama, a little bit of action, and a little bit of fanservice alongside some other things. I'm more interested in a show with more focus, personally. Although apparently FMP did have an entire season dedicated to comedy?
I don't know, Steve, I always considered you to be more of a loose cannon. But maybe Riku better fits the anti-hero mould...

Sore ga Ai Deshou:
... And Kimi ni Fuku Kaze. Pretty convenient all-in-one, as I wanted to post both of these. The opening... It's why I got into Full Metal Panic. When I first heard it, it dates back to the days I played Ragnarok Online. If you have any bit of retention and have been around for my posts, you know how I go on about memories with that game. The server I played on had some custom songs, and this one was used as the login music. For years I loved it, but only knew it as a numbered mp3 file. Some time last year I decided to try something... Uploading the song to Youtube. And as I hoped, it detected third party content and told me what the song was.
I found out it was from this anime Full Metal Panic. A pseudo high-school anime with a 'military nut' hero and a tsundere. Probably all about him being oblivious and an uncaring heartless uptight military guy. But it might be entertaining and it has mechs, and it uses that song as an opening...
Well, I was definitely surprised with what became my favorite anime. If your initial thoughts on reading a synopsis of the anime were like mine... It's so much more than that. It has all kinds if entertainment, but it's still focused and pulls everything off great.
And for this ending, it's lighthearted and happy as it is because it's from Fumoffu... The second, and comedy season. While it's largely slice of life, it's an actually hilarious comedy, and has bits of character development here and there. Seriously though, it's funny as heck, it stacks up with the other two seasons despite being nothing but that.
Bonta-kun!

And the end of Full Metal Panic... Minamikaze: You may or may not have realized, all three openings and endings are sung by the same person. Mikuni Shimokawa. Dunno what to say about that... All three of her openings for FMP are some of my closest favorite songs out there? As for this song, it's lighthearted much like the other two openings. But for this last season of the anime, things actually start to get a bit more serious. It starts much in the style of the first season, but it's quick to quickly shift into something darker. About the only thing I can say is that the comedy part diminshes to almost nothing, and for some reason, the animation is much more mature, plainly showing violent scenes, whereas the first season at most showed blood indirectly. It's a rather heartbreaking arc, but also very sweet in that it shows just how much the two main characters 'need' each other. Yeah, it's a bit of a despair arc, and some sad stuff happens. Ultimately, though, it's not the kind of anime that ends badly. Don't tell me you expect a bad ending what with the nature of the first two seasons and all of the peaceful opening songs? This song makes me want to just soar through the sky in a giant robot... It's so uplifting and... Windy like clouds. Like 0:42. I have fond memories of watching Full Metal Panic outside campus before class, during the days of windy winter mornings. One day I'll fly... Maybe not a mech. And this song will play in my heart. It's no coincidence the song translates to South Wind, and part of the song is about wind! ano kaze no yo niiii~ (Just like that wiiiind~) I love the lyrics, they're so symbolic and full of imagery. You know, I've realized, Japanese music culture is so different from ours. English music rarely has these levels of poetic quality. They're typically just to the point and bland in comparison. The Japanese lyrics, and in bold, what they would be in an American song. I'm still kinda sad there's no more Full Metal Panic. And with that, have one last insert song. Yeah, it's one of those slow ones, but it's just beautiful and kinda sad.
