I can't remember what year it was but I picked it up from EB Games and I fell in love with it. I think the collection and rare borgs were a nice driving point to keep playing beyond the first round of the story mode. along with multiplayer and challenge mode with some of my friends, I probably played it just as much as Wind Waker or Smash Bros in comparison. I recently starting playing again on the Dolphin emulator (I don't know if talking about emulators here is frowned upon) and I think i'll try to get Netplay working if possible

I saw it and rented it from a video game store. I think I was skeptical about it but fell in love with it. It's just so awesome how you can collect borgs and then use them to battle. Just like getting cool action figures and then playing with them but better! As a kid I thought this was fantastic and even now it's really awesome in my mind because it's one of those flashy games that is so cool. There aren't a lot of games like it anymore and it makes for excellent multiplayer.

Antares_Commander told me about this board, so I looked around and looked into Gotcha Force. The rest is history.

There was a singular copy of the game on the shelf at the game shop hovering behind more popular titles for the GC. I saw the cover and immediately remembered the review I saw on G4 a year or so beforehand, saying it had over 200 robots or something like that. Over 200 anything playable and I buy things.
So I bought things.
And here I am today, still emulating it on my PC.

I don't really know the exact time, I think I was 12-14 years old, and I've seen the game in an electronic-shop. I loved anime and that whole japanese atmosphere back then (and I still do to an extent) so when I saw the cover and read the backprint I was hooked before I even played it. My parents bought it for me and as soon as I got home I started playing it, and I skipped a meal just to keep playing. The next day in school I told my friends about it, and they visited me every weekend and we would play Gotcha Force the whole time. First we played the single player mode and switched the controller, while the other 2 were watching. Later when we got quite a collection of borgs, we would play the multiplayer mode. I just realized a couple years later that the game got bad reviews and I remember being really pissed about it, because I had the best time with it.

That's so fun that you got to experience Gotcha together with your buddies. It's best the best way to play it for the first time *hi-five* Also, your sig is sweet ;D

I actually... don't know... when I was younger I had really bad confidence when playing games (and I still do...), I loved Starfox Adventures to death (Still do, I was playing on it earlier) but as soon as I got the first boss or anything I was "Scared" of trying myself, I had my brother do it! But he's moved out now.. and I decided to play Gotcha Force and this time without help and actually get past that fight with Nekobe! (When Kitsune comes in) Well.. before that me and my brother played the versus mode and I just decided to use Blade Wing (It looked cool!) ,Anyho I started to really like using him! Being in the air and able to avoid damage gave me a little bit of confidence while playing! So once I could choose my own team, Blade Wing was put right in there!! I started to get really good with Blade Wing and it soon became my favourite Gotcha Borg! (I name him McCloud, after Fox McCloud) Next thing I know.. I'm on like, playthrough 4! XD Now I can just playthrough the game with no problems! (Except... "The Dragon's Den" I still get owned in that fight XD)
I have about 6 of 'em now... BLADE WING ARMY!!

I think this is how it went. My best friend and his brother were in a game store years ago (don't know which one, maybe Gamecrazy), and his brother noticed it and decided to buy it. I believe he claimed that it would be good. Boy was he ever right. Somehow, he knew. It soon got shared with me, and since then the four of us (my brother included) have spent countless hours with it, either in groups or on our own. Sure wish Capcom had marketed it better...

Quick someone paint their car to look like Panther Vehicle! That's so fun that you got to experience Gotcha together with your buddies. This is a pretty cool idea I remember when I first got my own copy of Gotcha, I couldn't even beat the first Sho mission. It kinda gave me chuckles when I watched my brothers struggle with it when I played during the anniversary a few days ago ^_^

Well, for me it's a wierd coincidence.
2013, it was some day close to my birthday, I was on holiday and I was checking out and sorting some old magazines from 2002-2004 when I got a call from a friend.
"Hi Navi, I'm at the second-hand/used (not sure of the english term) game store. Do you happen to know anything about Gotcha Force? Just found it here, low-priced, looks fun."
I was still turning pages mechanically as I was on my phone and I found a little review of GF, 3 lines tops with two pictures, rather favorable."
"Dunno, just found a tidbit on it, looks fun."
"Okay, I'll grab it. How about we play it on your GameCube, since you're pretty close?"
"Sure, no problem. See you later!"
He came over for roughly two hours and we played through a part of story mode then tried to play against eachother. Tons of fun were had this day.
A few days later, he gave it to me because it actually was my birthday gift.

I had two friends that owned it. I played it at one of their homes (I hogged the game for a while because I was mesmerized). Later I asked where they got it, and one of them told me it was at gamestop, but you had to ask for it because it was behind the counter. After I got it, I played for hours on end, fell in love with normal samurai (until I got metal hero). And here I am, 11 years later on a gotcha force fan board, the same as all of you. Haha.

I had first discovered Gotcha Force when I went over to my cousin's house. I said I was bored and he asked if I wanted to play a game he just got. "Sure" I said. He pulled out Gotcha Force, and I fell in love with the game instantly.
Then I asked my parents to get me Gotcha Force for christmas, since it was my favorite game but I only got to play it when I went over to my cousin's house.
So I waited... and waited... and waited. Then christmas day came, and when I found that they DID get me Gotcha Force, I think I almost screamed.
So yeah, favorite game from my childhood and still one of my favorites to this day.

I was actually brought in by the interesting scenes I saw in not Game Informer, but the other magazine that had Hsu and Chan at the end. I tried it out, and fell in love with it.

I just got this for Christmas when I first got my GameCube along with windwaker (another favorite GameCube title of mine) since my mom knew I'd liked zelda, plus some other games such as Sonid Adventure 2, Mario Sunshine And the megaman x collection. Just lucky this happened to be the random third party game she picked those many years ago. My GameCube and games are all in good shape. I still play it regularly today.
