Y not? Just started, going with Fennekin. MATTE NE, MINA! Learning Japanese off Pokemon TV channels.

Just some advice on picking starters... Chespin's final form is Chesnaught. It is a grass-fighting type. Fennekin's final form is Delphox, a fire-psychic type. Froakie's final form is Greninja, a water-dark type.
Going with Froakie for sure.
Also, Honedge's final form is now my favorite pokemon ever.

Honedge, huh. Gonna have to find out what that is. I went into this game only knowing the starters and the legendaries, and Megazards. Just multiplies on all the new and exciting.
To be honest, I'm not that fond of the starters. Chespin turns into an old mech gramps, Fennekin turns into some old hag... And Froakie is just not the hipster choice. I'm gonna be leaving my starter soon anyway, I never like to use them for long.

Also, reasons why I like Honedge's last evo: 1. Ghost Type. My favorite. 2. Steel Type. My 2nd favorite. 3. Cool design. 4. Unique; depending on the move you use, the pokemon is as strong in both offenses as Mewtwo, or as high defenses as a Dusknoir. 5. Reminds me of a ghostly knight.
The 4th reason means it could pretty safely raise it's stats for an offensive set, or become a very strong staller, if given a good recovery move. In the end it's movepool will be the final factor, but otherwise it's VERY versatile. It does have low speed and a weaker HP stat, but with the right moves this could be remedied.

I've already got myself a honedge in Y called oblivion and he's awesome. Defineately going to keep him for the game. Still, I get the feeling that far too many people will be using Aegislash... we'll see. Otherwise really looking forward to mega-evolving my venasaur. (Whose an ivysaur right now. Hope I spelt that right) Chose the water starter and he's the highest level pokemon right now. I'm going to look into that torchic soon too. Also got a ralts, my weakest pokemon. Oh, and Aslan joined me. That's cool. (except he's a girl now, apparently. I didn't know.) I didn't get those pokemon in that order. The other pokemon I'm looking forward to is one of the fossils.
BUT ENOUGH OF THAT! TRAINER CUSTOMIZATION! Probably my favorite new addition. I can't wait until those muffins over near the eifel tower let me buy stuff from their store. How can I be FABULOUS if I can't buy the most fabulous of clothes? Should I also feel guilty that I spent about 10,000 pokedollers trying to get my hairstyle right? I hope that there will be easy late game money grinding... In case you were wondering, yes I am playing as a girl for the first time in my pokemon career. Why? TRAINER CUSTOMIZATION! Gals are prettier and cooler than guys. Ties... need ties...
Oh and the game itself is good too, but who cares! I'm grinding for clothes. (Not really. Kinda.)

Chespin's final form is Chesnaught. It is a grass-fighting type. Thanks for that. I totally didn't want to find out my starter's final form's type for myself or anything. I mean I get wanting to give advice, but SPOILERS.

Also, I don't actually have the game. I'm broke.

Since when are pokemon in the game "spoilers"? Well, not plot spoilers, obviously, but half the fun of diving into a new Pokémon game (for me, at the very least) is having no idea what anything is. Granted, there's not much of that yet thanks to all the pre-release coverage, but Chesnaught's type was one of those things I was looking forward to finding out about when I got to it.

So I was going to tell people where they could find an easy amulet coin but with all this talk of spoilers I'll keep my mouth shut. So many earlier pokemon in this game. The weirdest encounter I've had so far was pansage, which was really helpful against the first gym. The gym battle theme by the way, is perhaps my favorite in the series. Ok ok I'll try to keep my mouth closed. (Seriously though the soundtrack is pretty good.)

Im gonna grab y in the coming days. Gonna go with chespin, squirtle and get the torchic.
Also, while aegislash has a cool ability, i find its appearance to be drab and stupid.
Actually other than a handful of the new pokemon i hate most of them based on looks alone.

Proud of you steve XD Also like i said, its ability is cool, if not unique, i like the idea of it, just not its look. It may grow on me. Heck 50%~ of the b&w pokes have. Including reshiram. I still like zekrom better, but id catch a reshiram at this point Which reminds me, whose getting x? Ill throw out trades from y like a boss when i get it.

I believe in the post game you can find megastones, but not the pokemon they go to. And sometimes you can find a pokemon that will megavolve, but their megastone is in the other game. You also get tons of megastones for free as you go through the game.

Well, I made it to the mountains outlooking the second gym, I think. Right after the Zubat-or-something cave. So far, my ace/favorite is a Fletchinder (Kyutoru). Rest of my team now is Braixen (Gakuro), Venipede (Gundros), Pidgeotto (Akigiri), Axew (Fraxus), and Absol (Enraiko)! I'm probably gonna drop out Braixen soon, as Fletchinder is more like my fire starter. Fletchinder and Absol are actually the only ones I'll keep 'till the end... And Al, if you find a female Pawniard in Route 10 it'd be awesome to trade Actually, I'm kinda out of this game for the rest of the day, and tomorrow, probably. Waiting on someone else to get the game tonight, then they'll have to spend most of tomorrow catching up.

Route 10? I'm on the case!
I've beaten the 4th gym leader and I'm about to challenge the 5th. Except not really, since I'm grinding the two star resteraunt in Lumoise city so that I can afford the expensive clothes in their botique. Yes, I managed to get into that place because I'm so gosh darn amazing. (Match outfits seen on manequines. Also try fighting the one and two star resteraunt battles and do all the jobs at the hotel)
My team:
Greninja
Tyrantum
Venusaur
Lucario (MEGAVOLUTON FTW!!!)
Doublade (Anyone know where I can find a dusk stone?)
Malamar
They're all around level 45 or so. I'm really over levled because exp share is broken.

Claxus you silly, Pawniards are found on route 15 in 'the lost hotel' you can see it on the map. Sorry to say, but I'm not there yet. I'm technically on route 14 but I wont be making my way there for a little while.

Huh, maybe it was something else I wanted in Route 10... Well, Bisharp's my favorite Pokemon so it'd be great to be able to breed one for my style early on. Considering you're close to that point and I'm keeping myself at bay before the second gym 'till late Monday or Tuesday. I'd give you my fire starter, though it's untradeable due to an HM and I'm not sure if I can unlearn that yet... Or my Axew.
Speaking of which, Dethy, if you want to find those two, Axew's in the zubat-or-something cave as an uncommon encounter it seems, and Absol is just outside of its Western exit as a seemingly common encounter.

Sure I'll get it for you. Just hope I wont have to plow through the 6th gym leader to get it. Is your starter male, then? That's a shame. The fire starter was actually my favorite but I went for the water starter because my plan was to get max coverage with the torchick (which I downloaded and never used.) If you pick the sail fossil (you're very close to getting a choice between fossils) and either breed the pokemon you'll get if it's female, reload when you revive it till it's female (or just give it to me right out or whatever), then I'll give you your pawniard.
