Two words: Eviolite Chansey

Does Chansey have Regenrator? Does Chansey get Leech seed? Does Chansey get a decent Sp. Atk stat? (Tangela gets a base Sp.Atk of 100.)
Does Chansey get (at least) a 35 base in BOTH defensive stats, and have one base defensive stat at 100+?
the answer to all of these is no. Chansey may have tons of hp, but how is this gonna help when you're a wall, and have a crappy defnese stat? a decent wall needs good stats in BOTH defensive areas. a physical attack from a decent sweeper OHKO's Eviolite Chansey. That's why I switched to Tangela for my main wall. At least Tangela gets SOMETHING in Sp. def. Tangela can take a special hit from a dedicated special sweeper without dying. of course, on the subject of walls, Ferrothorn is better than anything, especially if you have Flash Fire Chandelure around to cover it's 2 weaknesses. It's an amazing Physical and Special wall, with decent Hp to boot. and put Rocky Helmet + iRON BARBS, ANYTHING THAT Physically hits this will be in a world of hurt. Plus, it has acess to 2 of 3 entry hazards. It may have abysmal speed, but that's what Gyro ball benefits from, giving Ferrothorn a massive power STAB, in which it can use well, because unlike most walls, it has decent base attack.
FERROTHORN IS THE BEST WALL EVER. except when you have a sun team. coz that's x4 weakness, amplified further by sun. On a Rain team, Ferrothorn is almost unstoppable. Sooner or later, Ferrothorn WILL be banned if it's on a rain team.
I use Ferro, but as a lead, not a wall.

The biggest thing that Eviolite Tangela lacks is reliable recovery. Leech Seed is all well and good and it seems likely that you'll want to run Substitute alongside it for the wonderful SubSeed combo that makes many Grass-types usable. You'll likely take Sleep Powder to help you set-up and, I dunno, Giga Drain as your final slot.
Herbivore and Liquid Ooze will ruin your day forever. Before you say something like "Liquid Ooze is terrible and no one uses it" I point you to Tentacruel and his rise in usage thanks to the abundance of people who spam Ferrothorn. Unless the Fortress expy gets some boosts from Curse, he'll be doing himself more harm than good.
Finally, on what planet can you OHKO Eviolite Chansey with a physical sweeper? You'll need to have pretty much ruined their entire team and have some decent buffs under your belt for that situation to make sense. Why anyone would send out a Chansey to wall a physical attack is beyond me. That's what Ferrothorn is for.

I don't use seed. That's for Whimsicott. I primarily just use Ferrothorn as my wall. I don't have seed on it though.
Spikes Curse Stealth rock Gyro ball
Curse bulks up def. Double entry hazards= pain to nearly everything. Gyro ball gets major boost from curse, managing 150 power on nearly everything, PLUS the attack boost, considering Ferro has decent attack.

Yeah, I use a similar Ferrothorn, but with Power Whip over Stealth Rock, since that's what my lead has and I like for my potential damage dealers to at least have a little bit of coverage.

I'm thinking of getting spikes off of it. Because I also have this:
Froslass
Ice beam Ominous Wind Spikes Destiny Bond
This is my lead\dragon killer. Why? Besides Accelgor, this is the fastest spiker in the game. spikes set up, blah blah blah. Ice beam hits Garchomp, gliscor, and a lot of other popular pokes. Ominous wind hurts ghosts, blah blah blah. Destiny bond is for when setup is done. It allows you to take another Pokemon with you, even with Froslass's low attack stats.
Yep, my lead.

Can't your pokemon covor more than one thing at a time?
Can they cause damage every turn even when they're not attacking?
Are they capable of assuming one other role while maintaining a main purpose?
The answer to all that is NO!!
While not at it's peak potential, my Servine can coil you up with Wrap! THAT'S RIGHT!! He uses one of the most useless attacks in the game, and turns it into a deadly force of nature! What's that? You want too switch out pokemon? TOO BAD!! My servine has your pokemon in it's snakey grasp! Your pokemon is trapped and doomed for certain!! This hater is gonna be hatin', top hat and everything!! And the fact your pokemon's also tangled up with leech seed won't make your situation any better.
What's that? I caught a bug type!? Well I got Unfezant!! With wings so sharp, you'll be soar in the morning!! Pun not intended!! He'll even dive bomb you and can easily critical you and make you flinch if that's what it takes!!
What? You also got a flying-type or a pokemon with levitate? Well my Carracosta knows SMACK DOWN, BITCH!! he'll knock your pretty bird (actual bird or otherwise) out of the sky in no time!! Don't even BOTHER using those 3-on-3 party-wiping tactics either! His Wide Guard will screw that s*** over!!
You better have tissues, because I promise you that THROH'S STRENGTH WILL MAKE YOU CRY!! Don't even bother increasing Attack and Special Attack!! He doesn't just dish out punishment! HE CAN F**KIN' TAKE IT!!
Don't look now, son, but I think you're guys are also POISONED!! Thanks to Trubbish here, your pokemon are already dead.
By the way, what's that in your hand? She's got it! Liepard has just snatched that precious item you've been holding and is now being used to her liking. I wouldn't bother trying to steal it back because she's got Hone Claws! You must have a death wish if you want to get Fury Swiped!

sweepers are fast, powerful pokemon who try to take everything out before being hit.
Eviolite is an item found by talking to someone in Castelia City. It multiplies a Pokemon's defense by 1.5 when held. However, the holder must not be fully evolved.
There you go.
by the way, Choice Specs, Heat Wave Chandelure in the sun?
can you say SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPER?

I have trained my Zoroark to be a sweeper of the elite four. granted he's 11 levels higher than the highest pokemon of the champ, but still. I took out 2 E4s without getting hit, and only barely got scratched on the 3rd, fourth was a slight challenge because I used up my fighting move already(Damn you metagross and bronzong). The E4 doesn't stand a chance against me.

Just went through E4, with a lone Mismagius (from my White version) I swept everything, coming in with a level 77. (max EV's, iv's) However, what caught me off guard was the amount of exp I was getting. (traded w/ lucky egg) I thought to myself, holy crap, I'm getting 8,000 exp for each of these wusses!
My Mismagius came in a level 77 It came out level 94. That's almost 20 levels from 5 measly battles.

hmm im gonna ask?
is sigilyph good?
does throh make a good wall/pain dealer?
i know my HAXorus and excadrill are sweepers
but what are samurott and zekrom?
|

Post by Stove on Jul 15, 2011 2:51:52 GMT
both Samurott and Zekrom are primarily supposed to be sweepers.
Sigigylph sucks. That's my perspective.

Sigilyph is brilliant. It has reliable recover access, a large base spatk and speed, surprisingly large bulk and also, the thing that makes it so great; Magic Guard. Since magic guard allows you to avoid the bad effects from poison and burn (obvs the attack drop still happens but Sigilyph is special so yeah) you could equip it with a toxic/burn orb, make it so you can avoid sleep, para, freeze and then use Psycho Shift to give the status to your opponent. You can also then abuse the cosmic/stored power combo on him to make an untouchable sweeper - something rarely seen. does throh make a good wall/pain dealer? Definitely. I use a set of Bulk Up/Superpower/Earthquake/Stone Edge @leftovers myself, and it works brilliantly. It has so much attack AND natural bulk I can't quite believe, I think when I used it, it could take TWO full power Draco Meteors from Latios. That's more than just good. but what are samurott and zekrom? Zekrom is uber so I don't really know since I don't play uber. Samurott is an okay mixed sweeper. Its not particularly fast and can't take too many hits so yeah. I'd say the Water equivalent of Venusaur. Only crap since it doesn't get Sleep Powder or Leech Seed.

That's more than just good. 1) Reuniclus is bulkier, has more Hp, and an awesome Sp.Attack stat, plus Magic guard.\ Of course, Sigigylph is faster, but Reuniclus has Trick room to take advantage of its crappy speed. and they both have reliable recovery, via Recover/Roost. 2) I never knew Throh was very good. I knew Scrafty was a great wall who could use Shed skin/rest, along with Bulk up, Drain Punch, and Dragon tail @ Leftovers. But I never knew Throh was bulky.
