I do. In fact my patron isnt even on the "normal" pantheon( Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Dionysus, Apollo, Artemis, Hermes, Athena, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Demeter) but is still a major god, in fact the one of wealth. Take a guess as to who he is. Bacchus! Also, I consider Hades to be an important part of Greek Mythology, but I never considered him to be one of "wealth."

im usally not into relig. stuff but this seems like an interesting discussion. I used to be a devote catholic, but have since given up those ideals. although i still go to church because my mother would disown me. I don't believe in god, but im not athiast. i have my own philisophy, and if god does exist he is diffinetly not be all knowing and powerful (a being like that would not show love for the distructive and feeble human.)

I am actually a Jehovah's witness and I am planning on getting baptized this year and I dislike Insane because of his "God is not all powerful" routine.

hay that's only the second time you have heard me say that. 2 is not routine, but every time i talk to you, you always bring up the witness ideals. and guess what? i still haven't read those pamphlets yet

I dislike Insane because of his "God is not all powerful" routine. wow. then you would have HATED me a few years ago. Frankly, i just choose not to stow that much power in a single entity, rather spread it out into specific domains and thus do not have to specify EXACTLY what i wish would happen, because they would have a general idea. (IE: I wouldnt ask Zeus for help in love...for multiple reasons...)

Ugh... I feel uncomfortable posting here. Me and religious discussion don't exactly have a good history. Anyway, I don't really think about religion. The way I see it, what happens happens, whether a God made it happen or not. I'm also inclined to believe that one doesn't need to be religious to be a good person like religions try to teach people to be. And, if religious discussions outside of here are any indication... Let the flames begin! ..................................^(In this situation, I'd be that one...)

If someone doesn't follow a religion and they post that here, you have absolutely no right to tell them not to post it. Sorry if I come across as an a**hole here, but I can't stand religious intolerance.

It's a fine joke, just not in the actual, serious Religion thread. There's nothing wrong with him not having a religion. I don't think you were an A**hole, you just didn't understand what I meant. Make sense now? also, if I was being critical about no religion, I would have gotten pissed off at Insanityscythe's comments above.

It's the same joke, regardless of where it's said/posted. But yeah, I get it. You're just taking a joke seriously, not being intolerant. Good.

I love how in a thread about religion, there isn't an argument over religion, but an argument over A POST.
Only in GFF folks.

All right, time to release years upon years of observation. I finally have a strong belief in something. Dont read if you dont want to hear some anti-religion stuff, but in all honesty I think my judgement is kinda fair.
Short story: I dont care if God exists or not- I follow myself, because you can only believe in whats in front of you.
Long story: There is no strong, solid evidence either way to make a veridct verdict either way. I am referring to the difference between atheism and christianity- I wont be discussing other religions. Wars have been fought over beliefs- thats stupid. Personally, since there isn't strong evidence FOR God, I'm willing to believe that they cancel each other out and its more likely he doesn't exist. But, thats just me. If he exists, he doesn't do a whole lot any more. Lets assume he does exist. He would be responsible for the creation of the ENTIRE UNIVERSE. Do you comprehend just how big the universe is? And the millions of species that almost certainly live in it? God, logically, is responsible for them to. In other words, thinking that he'll always answer your prayers due to your faith is short sighted- because quite frankly, he probably has better things to do, he may be trying to start up new civilisations. We're a far cry from the centre of the universe. God was depicted well in the TV comedy futurama. A quiet, computer galaxy in the middle of space that doesn't do much anymore because he gets so many prayers. His verdict was that if he grants every prayer, his subjects would become too reliant, and when he cant answer a prayer, they're civilisation would be destroyed. Forget about them... and, well, thats not being a very good god. In other words- my main gripe about religion is when people loose faith in themselves and pray that god will do everything for him. Thats a hope that the entire world revolves around you. Short sighted nonsense, he probably hasn't got his omnipotent eye anywhere near earth at present. After all, even an omnipotent cant exactly do everything at once when there's so much to do- unless there are multipul gods, which in it's self goes against christian teachings. This is what I hate about the religion, I'm sure you guys aren't like that though. In short- dont be reliant on god. I like this saying from christianity 'gods in all of us.' Now, believe it or not, I think that creates a psychological effect where they believe in the god that is inside themselves- that my friends is merely self confidence. While it may be hard for christians to really follow Atheist beliefs, this attitude is good- if they believe god is inside them, then they have the self confidence to do just about whatever with they're life. Weather you believe in deities or not- this is the way to get through life. Now, lets assume god doesn't exist- this is what I believe in. I adore this quote from gurren lagann. "Dont believe in the Simon that I believe in. Dont believe in the Kamina that believes in you- believe in the Simon that believes in you." Lets re work what. "Dont believe in the you that god believes in. Dont believe in the God that believes in you- believe in the you that believes in yourself." In other words, self confidence. No matter what the truth is, if there is one at all- always believe in yourself. At the very least, believe in yourself, and believe in yourself before you believe in anything else, or you wont get anywhere. I came to the Emo conclusion that everything is nothing. Pointless. Everything begins and ends in a void that isn't even black- colourless nothing. The entire universe exists due to mere coincidence, and everything in it is nothing- what we see is a construct of the human mind, not whats actually there. The universe is simply shared reality. I talked about the observation theory in the Shadow Sun 3 RP. I believe in it. That the universe is stabilized as it is observed. So... whats there to loose compadres? Absolutely nothing- after death, nothing is really decided, its just an abyss of nothing, which some may call peace and tranquility, like sleep without dreams. We EMBRACE sleep, going to sleep then not wanting to wake up in the morning... we spend a huge portion of our lives asleep. Dead. So, death is nothing to fear, accepting it brings happiness. 'beyond the beaten path lies the absolute end. It doesn't matter who you are. Death awaits you.' Now, for heaven and hell. ... I think its good and bad. Good in that it encourages morals. Bad in that it makes people follow god because they dont want punishment. "Maturity is doing whats right without hope of reward, and avoiding whats wrong without fear of punishment." Do I need to say any more about what I think about that?
Anyway I think thats about everything. I have another philosophy I believe in in my sig.
