Out of curiosity what character were you playing as? I seem to remember you saying you play Zelda? Cause she can play a good keep away game against Bowser I love playing against the big heavy characters like Bowser, Gannon, DeDeDe 'cause it always feels like a David V Goliath situation Yup, I was Zelda. I think I was going for a smash attack but was just too unassertive to actually land it. I didn't want to be annoying and spam Din's Fire, the Phantom Knight thingy probably would've left me open too long, and he was already well aware of Farore's Wind so that wouldn't work. Okay, so we're not talking about a crazy good Bowser or anything here. By Up-A, I assume you mean Up-Smash? The shell attack? Bowser with full rage is not something to be trifled with. Best way to beat Bowser is to edgeguard him; his recovery's not nearly as bad as it used to be, but it's still not amazing. If you don't, he's usually going to live well past 100% and at that point rage + Bowser means any hit after 50 can kill you. Right, I keep forgetting about rage for some reason unless I'm playing Shulk ... I'll definitely remember that next time I suppose I shouldn't feel too bad though; I think the guy who knocked me out of the winner's bracket this time was the same guy who knocked me out of the loser bracket last time, and I put up a way better fight But yeah, I think I need to remember to grab more, also.

Zelda can't keep Bowser out, come on...all of her projectiles are really laggy and it's easy to just shield one and be in her face.

Well all I'm saying is she has a better chance at playing keep away then someone who doesn't have projectiles. I mean, you could say its spammy and annoying but it's still a valid strategy. And yeah, I agree she's not a great character but she can still do it yaknow. Maybe I was wrong to say "good keep away game" xD

If you want to see some actually good play from me, here's me in like 2 hours of friendlies at the last tournament I went to.
No facecam this time because I was on a recording setup and not the stream, but it's not like you're missing much.
I have a couple bracket matches too, but they're not uploaded yet.
And yes, I entered as General Scales in this tournament. I'm still Zethor, it was just a joke tag.

Alright. This is the super silly tournament match, but here's one of the two sets I had on a recording setup.

*Shamelessly advertises my youtube channel* I started a new youtube channel, particularly for my Sm4sh personality. I have a bunch of friendlies in a playlist, and a few highlights as public videos, and I plan to add some informative videos in the near future. If you enjoy watching my silly matches or are interested in learning, feel free to subscribe and stuff. For now, I have four "Smash Shorts" uploaded. Here's the first one.

Here's the clip that's going to be in my 10th Smash Short. Thought I'd share it now; I was super hyped when I did this (and my training partner was super salty)

So I sparred with my cousin for the first time ever. I played Ganon vs his Corrin for one of my matches.
I threw him off-stage and d-aired him. Took a stock.
He respawned. I use side-b to down tilt, knock him back. Then I caught him in a reverse warlock punch.
Match lasted 38 seconds.
Someone help I feel like a scumbag.
Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.

I'm trying to pick up Yoshi. He looks fun and adorable. Any tips from anyone? You know, besides the eating-people-then-watch-them-slowly-fall-to-their-deaths tactic.

Forward Air, Neutral Air, Eggs, Up Air and Jab are amazing moves that you should use a lot. Neutral Air is frame 3 (really really fast) and can be mashed when getting combo'd and if the combo isn't guaranteed you'll likely get out. Forward Air is, of course, a spike, but it does great damage and has high range. Combine this with Yoshi's incredible air mobility (Same speed as Jigglypuff in the air) and the move is a great spacing tool on shields on the ground, a great tool for killing opponents offstage, and just really great in general. Yoshi's Jab is fast, safe, and rewarding; it sets opponents up for followups like dash attack or forward air fairly well and at high percents the first jab can true combo into an Up Smash for a kill. Learn this combo if you can; it's super useful. Up Air is your other main way of killing; it's very fast and strong and goes well with Yoshi's incredible air mobility. You can combo into it in a few ways such as hitting someone with a forward air and then an up air, or hitting them with an egg and then an up air.
Main strengths of Yoshi are his incredible mobility in general (fastest air speed, 14th fastest run) combined with a nice fall speed and heavy weight (Yoshi is actually the 11th heaviest character in the game, surprisingly) giving him great survivability but not to the point to where he's combo food, and his great frame data on almost everything. Biggest weaknesses are his terrible frame data on his grab (his grab doesn't really have the range of a tether yet has all the ending lag of a tether), a terrible grab game in general (Yoshi gets nothing guaranteed off of his throws), and a poor recovery (it covers a decent amount of distance so long as Yoshi has a double jump, but if hit out of his double jump Yoshi is likely dead.)
B-reverses are a key concept for Yoshi as well. If you don't know what a B-reverse is, basically, for a lot of specials, if you press the input for the special move then very quickly press the control stick in the opposite direction, your character's momentum will all be reversed. This lets Yoshi move in very tricky ways by using B-Reverse eggs and B-Reverse Egg Lay.
tl;dr eggs, neutral air, up air, forward air and jab are all amazing, focus on your mobility, and try not to grab too much since your grab is awful. If you want more in-depth info, just ask. I have far more I can say about specifics but I didn't want to bore you.
Unrelated, but here, have some Ganondorf.

Something is tempting me to create a YouTube account just to subscribe....I like fun little glorious moments. You should see when me and Thaddie play doubles vs. level 9's and just PK Fire all day.
TEAM DOUBLE EARTHBOUND!
Also, don't be afraid to go in depth. I love the game, so I'll read up on advice if you have any to offer!
