Saw Catching Fire last night. It was amazing. That ending though... apparently it's the same way in the book. Is there any news on when the next movie is coming out?

Prolly within 6-8 months. Its gonna be two parts though. The director said he wants to "do the third one too the fullest" which in hollywood speak means they are super popular and two movies makes more money. But you could read the book?

Saw Catching Fire last night. It was absolutely terrible. Yes I've read the books. I hate them too. biasbiasbias So I went to watch Hobbit; Desolation of Smaug. It was good, albeit not at all accurate, just like the first movie was.

I want to see Frozen again ... Frozen was great, just saw it and I think that it's the best disney movie in a loooooooooong time. I really liked wreck it ralph sure but it felt more like a pixar movie than a disney movie. Which is fine but... yeah, Frozen was just great and I hope it's themes will make the younger generations slightly less retarded. Anyway I'm seeing the second hobbit tomorrow. Saw the first Hobbit on netflix the other day and I was really disappointed... I don't think the middle earth books and films would be so popular if it wasn't, you know, the original and most influential fantasy story.

The LotR series is fantastic, and the movies of the MAIN series stay true to the books. I say they're actually BETTER because they chop out quite a bit of the crap that made Two Towers a pain to read. However, what you watched was an over-extended version of the first half of the hobbit. The Desolation of Smaug covers another 40% or so...which means the third movie is going to be like the last 30 pages of the book lol. 9 hours of movie footage. 200 page book. GG Also LotR is most definetly not the first fantasy story. Fantasy has been around as long as the humans have existed. Where do you think the Greek Gods and their stories came from? Imagination from the human mind, and that was thousands of years before Tolkien came around.

Greek stories probably derived from mechs. Today we learn butchered versions of their stories about giants and gods... I mean, they had to move all those massive stones into place somehow.
So hey, it's about Christmas time. Someone go watch Gundam Wing Endless Waltz. Can't go wrong with Gundams and Christmas.

To say that Tolkein isn't the person who wrote the stories that most people take inspiration from when writing fantasy stories (even if it's just on a subconscious level) nowadays is stupid. Fantasy has been around for thousands of years but not everyone has been around for thousands of years. LotR was the 'first' and original fantasy story for many people and he came up with a lot of concepts that have been used and referenced for decades afterwards.

You don't need to resort to personal attacks against me and others, Alberenza, I would have disregarded the post had you not also made other points which made it worthwhile. Just use those next time and you'll crush me much more effectively. After all, the idea is the enemy, not the person, plus you're in the right. I wasn't saying that he wasn't the most influential, I was saying that he's not the first. Also, you changed your statement the second time around.

Using that post of mine isn't going to work as an iron wall defence every time I engage in debate with you. I called your argument stupid, not you. And it's stupid because most people wouldn't point out the obvious, it wasn't the first, but it was the original place where many fantasy writer's inspiration came from and no one should have to live in a world where they have to qualify my statements with the obvious facts that most people would agree there would be no point in mentioning except to stop people with those criticisms speaking up for no reason because most people know that fantasy fiction existed long before Tolkien, even if they don't spend their time studying classical roman, greek, american, and english literature like I do.

The Disappearance of Hatsun--Suzumiya Haruhi. The movie was really nice. One of the rare cases (in my experience) where I'd say an anime movie really feels like a cinema special rather than a long episode. It's hard to say... It's just this quality that if you rewatch it, there's not really any dull moments, with even little moments memorable one way or another.
Well, truthfully, something about the series didnt click with me a lot... I think it's likely Kyon's straight-man-ness, despite his entertaining monologue comments. To me one of the deciding reasons for watching an anime is what I think of the main character... Unfortunately, Kyon's not my style. His constant and blatant rejection of anything 'non-normal' that's not sitting doing nothing and facepalming and sighing repeatedly throughout the entire series bored me, and I wasn't too excited to watch each episode because of it... Not saying he was a bad character though.
That said, I did pretty much like everything else. Koizumi made things much more fun (and I'm glad the movie confirmed his unrequited love and it wasn't just me over-analyzing)... As did Haruhi of course. Kyon had some great moments, but they were a little too far and few in between.
Endless 8 was oddly enjoyable for me (partly because Koizumi had Kyon levels of screentime?!)... The episode where Kyon almost _____s _____ during the movie-making episodes felt a bit strange... Didn't seem Haruhiiish (of the character). But that scene made me feel as uncomfortable as if it were really happening around me.
Lastly, about the movie itself, the one thing I didn't really like was how many times Kyon shakes people and yells at their face... I mean, I get the situation, but geez, the first half of the movie that's like all he does. I wonder what happened to the group when Kyon used the program... The climax of the movie was great, though it felt like they left a little too much information out... I did read what exactky happened though according to the light novels.
There's my spoiler free thoughts. Mostly posted this because of two you-know-who-you-ares, so you have my condolences if you're not them and read this.

Yeah, the disappearance was rather good. I'll probably have to watch the series again one of these days, I first watched it in my early days of watching anime before I developed my critical eye for anime.
It's a shame that Kyoto animation aren't as good as they used to be. It's unlikely we'll see any more Haruhi adapted despite its popularity.

Ohhh wow, Noah was amazing. I recommend this to everyone regardless of religious beliefs. ive heard that as a movie it is spectacular, but as a film account of what happened in Genesis regarding Noah and the flood it is utter garbage lol. i opted to see God's NOT Dead instead, because i wanted to see how they "pitched the arguement" and because kevin sorbo. i can honestly say it is one of the best movies, if not the best i've seen, it did the arguement justice, didn't compromise anything, and it did the arguement good, from both sides, kevin sorbo plays a really convincing atheist for a christian lol. i give it 2 thumbs, and a dvd purchase wants it hits stores.

Ohhh wow, Noah was amazing. I recommend this to everyone regardless of religious beliefs. I disagree, and not for it's faith inaccuracies; I knew it would be inaccurate when I watched it. I disagree due to what I believe was a poor form of storytelling and a plot with a lot of holes, in addition to mostly poor acting (the guy playing Noah was fantastic, but Emma Watson basically turned into Kristen Stewart through 90% of the movie, wearing that stupid "dull suprise" face.) But by plotholes I mean crap like "why does that guy have a gun in an era over 2,000 years ago." That stuff. THAT ASIDE, I watched three movies in the past couple weeks. Two I would recommend, and one...err...you'll see when I get there. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: Great Movie. I like how Marvel has most of their characters be different from the "born a hero" stuff. It makes them feel very real despite being far from it. The main cast of the movie did great, and it was an interesting movie that kept me interested aside from one or two little bits. I'd recommend it. TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: ... Wow. Typical Michael Bay. Poor story, bad humor, heavy effects and CGI, but really good action scenes. The first half of the movie focuses wayyyyy too much on Megan Fox, but the second half makes me think this could've actually been good. ...That really dissapoints me. I'm a big TMNT fan, I've read a good chunk of the comics, watched the 20th century TMNT, the 2000s TMNT, the 2010s TMNT, all of the 90s movies in their cruddy glory, even the 2000s movie. I own several TMNT video games both retro and newer (GCN era) I'm a big fan of TMNT, and if this was just absolute garbage I could've laughed it off knowing I was right from the start about it...but it had potential and good moments like the 2000s movie. It's frustrating. tl;dr, If you haven't partaked in any TMNT culture, you might like it. If you're a TMNT fan, steer clear. DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES: Absolutely amazing. Great acting, plot, and message. Not much I can say since it was all great with nothing wrong at all. I highly recommend it.
