Thanks Steve but I already got my tropis from emerald and that thing helped me out so much it was part of my flying team with rayquazer, tropis, skarmory, argron(yeah I know it's not a flying type) swampert(again I know),peliper But can that Tropius infinitely recycle a berry? I think not. ...I'd like to figure out how to do all that DW nonsense now. How does it work? And how does the 3DS Dream Radar thing tie into it? (Off-topic: "Radar" is a palindrome. Isn't that interesting? Not really.) DW abilities are something of a novelty. To get a pokemon with a Dream World ability, you have to find it in the Dream World (via pokemon-gl.com), use the 3DS's Dream Radar, or catch them in Hidden Grottos that are situated all over the games (B2/W2 Only) Some Dream World abilities, in short, break the Pokemon by making them several times more useful than they normally would be with standard abilities. This application can be for both a casual battler to a competitive battler. That is not to say that a pokemon's standard abilities are inferior to DW abilities. In many cases, it not true. Some Dream World abilities on some pokemon are flat out useless. So...examples.... Pokemon that got good Dream World abilities compared to standard abilities: Blaziken (Speed Boost vs. Blaze) - Powerful but slow before, with Speed boost, Blaziken now gets free speed per turn and can destroy stuff thanks to not getting locked via choice scarf Lucario (Justified vs. Inner Focus/Steadfast) - Justified gives an attack boost when hit by a Dark move. Lucario just happens to have a 4x resistance to Dark. And sports an insane physical move set that includes, but not limited to: Close Combat, Stone Edge, Ice/Thunder Punch, Crunch, Shadow Claw, Iron Head, etc. Ditto (Imposter vs Limber) - Imposter makes it so Ditto never has to use Transform....EVER, making it actually useful in a battle now, as opposed to being left in the Daycare forever. Pokemon that got useless Dream World abilities (comparatively): Cloyster (Overcoat vs Skill Link / Shell Armor) - Useless. Why? Skill Link is just better. Protection from weather would be great, except that it only works against Sandstorm...as Cloyster is part Ice and take no damage from Hail. Skarmory (Weak Armor vs Sturdy / Keen Eye) - again, useless. Skarmory is a physically defensive pokemon. Taking hits that would lower your defense for speed is a useless trade. And Sturdy is just great in that it protects you at full HP from an attack that would otherwise knock you out instantly. Reuniclus - (Regenerator vs Magic Guard / Overcoat) - Normally I wouldnt call regenerator useless, but on Reuniclus it is. Magic Guard blocks all damage that isnt from a direct attack (ie sandstorm, leech seed, toxic, etc), and Reuniclus sports nice defensive stats to make it work well for itself and a pain for others. I would go on more, but I need to get back to homework. I'll add more later if anyone wants.

I like harvest just because it's a very fun ability. There are so many possibilities with it. However, it's given to bad pokemon.

^(Pretend Steve's post isn't there.) I understand the Dream World abilities. I already have a Braviary with Defiant and a Garbodor with Weak Armor, among other things. I just hane absolutely no understanding of the Dream World itself. In fact this is literally the first time I remember reading anything about a pokemon-gl.com, and I suspect it costs money.

(You know, aside from the fact that I'm not even 1/4 of the way through the process of replaying the Gen 3 games, let alone Gen 4, so it doesn't do me a whole lot of good... yet.)

Hmm...as Steve said, the Dream World is painstaking. And to be honest, he is putting it nicely. I would say its a pain in the rear. And then some.
The Dream World itself is a browser based collection of minigames. It is also akin to a secret base, as you can decorate your home in the Dream World. You can also grow berries to get more stuff, or send to your game if you wish.
But most of it is about exploring different areas and meeting pokemon that live in those areas. Play games with them, then they become happy, at the end you can have them sent to your game.
That is the shortest, and blantest way I can describe the Dream Island. Expanded a bit, there are about 7(?) different areas in the Dream Island, each with pokemon that match the areas theme. (ie Flying pokemon in the Windswept sky, or water pokemon in the Sparkling Sea). The thing is, you can only keep one of the pokemon that you play a mini-game with every time you send a pokemon to the Dream World.
And all Pokemon in the Dream World have their alternate DW ability. But the thing is, unless the pokemon in question (from the mini-games) is 100% male or female (ie Tyroge or Petil), the gender ratio is always 75% male, 25% female. This plays into breeding, if anything. It drives me insane.

That does sound like a pretty massive pain in the backside. So how exactly do you connect your game to the whatever to do it? Is there some ID code of some sort to be input at this pokemon-gl.com?

Pokemon is confusing enought without the dream world Not really. Study it enough and it's not hard to understand. IVs and hidden power can be a pain, but Dream world isn't Hard to understand.

I just want to catch em all Then you don't have to bother with all those extra abilities. The only game I went to the trouble to "catch them all" was pokemon emerald, to get the johto starter as a reward.

There is an ID thing. When you make an account on the Global link site and sign in, go to the option that says My Page, once there, there is an option that should say "Add game card". click it and it will give you instructions on how to find your games card's specific code. Enter that code, and your game will be link to that account. And if you are into competitive battling, the Global link site will also record your win/loss, as well as give your current ranking. After that.... All fifth gen games have what in known as the C-Gear (communication Gear) that can be started up whenever you feel like it. Of the three options that it gives, IR, Wireless and Online, hit Online. It should take you to a screen that says GAME SYNC. Hit that. after you connect to Nintendo Wifi, you can either choose to send a pokemon to the Dream World, or if one is already there, use this to wake them up (read: get them back). and @ Steve: Isnt there a guy who will tell you what hidden power your Pokemon has? Unless you are talking about getting a specific one, then yea, that is hard. And I've only completed a national Pokedex in Diamond. Never again have I even bothered.

Well, that actually sounds pretty simple. I never have, actually. But considering the fact that doing that in Black 2 is basically the reason I'm even bothering to replay all the previous games, I'm probably going to be doing that in most of them in the near (or more likely distant) future.

Well, if you have a gamecube/wii sitting around, you can use Pokemon Colosseum and the squeal XD: Gale of Darkness to greatly expedite the process...well, sotra.
I mean, I spent a total of 100ish + some hours between both games, snagging and purifying all of the Shadow Pokemon. And getting Ho - oh.
Only problems are, you have to have a 3rd gen game, and the transfer cable for GC to GBA. This strat doesnt work without those.

I'm doing FireRed now, then I'm going to do Ruby and/or Emerald, then Colosseum, then XD, then Platinum, then maybe finally get around to playing HeartGold. If I feel like it. Which, considering the fact that that's half a dozen games before I even get to that point, is hard to say at this point. Oh, and you also forgot to mention how I can get Pokémon with weird moves if I go through XD. Like Lugia with Psycho Boost. Which is among the coolest of things. (Gotta figure out how to reset repeatedly for good natures on stuff in that game... That'll be fun...)
