Begin discussion!!

I normally didn't, but I would a couple times when I was bored, especially when I caught hundreds of Nidorans in the Safari Zone. Stuff like "Nidoking" ("Your Nidoking evolved into...a Nidorina!"), "Nidorhino", "Nidorun", "Nidomanz", "Stupid"....
The list goes on and on.

I only have a few Pokemon that aren't named. The number of unnamed is starting to increase due to my increasing laziness, though.

I always theme-name mine. Like, in LeafGreen they were all named after Marvel Super Heroes (Golem = The Thing, for example). In Pearl, they all had extremely common male names (Jeff the Sharpedo, Bill the Torterra, Dave the Electivire, etc.)
Now that I'm playing through Ruby again, I'm going with a musical theme. Example: Mightyena is named Rezz, after Trent Reznor, the lead singer of Nine Inch Nails (who's music is about as angry as Mightyena.)

I'm currently nearing the end of my playthrough of Sapphire version now. Training all my Pokemon at the entrance of Victory Road.
But during this playthrough, I had a couple of rules that I've been following religiously:- Only able to catch nine Pokemon (unless there are some special circumstances involving you getting a Pokemon, such as fighting Kyorge once, or running into a Shiny Pokemon)
- Only catch those nine Pokemon with Pokeballs (The shiny I caught with a single Ultra ball, as it's outside the rules, while Kyorge I caught with like 15+ Pokeballs)
- Evolve every Pokemon fully by the end of the journey (just one more evolution left~)
- Beat the Pokemon League with the first 6 Pokemon caught
I also am following a theme of nicknames like Sharkon did, but it's not exactly just for this version. The theme I'm rollin' with now is any kind of musical references, from bands, styles, genres, whatever.
And lastly, my team in order of caught~
- Hiyama [Blaziken Lv.38 Male]: Named after a voice actor, actually...after I came up with the music theme, but who cares
- Igor [Dustox Lv.35 Male]: No idea where the name came from. It's really hard to train him, and will probably be harder to use him effectively in the Elite Four battles, but he's my partner, so that doesn't matter. )
- Kraak [Breloom Lv.35 Male] Was at one time the strongest/leader of my team. It caught Pokerus as a Shoormish and passed it along my team.
- Sonata [Exploud Lv.42 Female] Probably the current strongest/leader of my team. This behemoth of a Pokemon being a female brings me much joy.
- JAM [Sableye Lv.37 Male] Though someone else caught it and saved my file, I still fell in love with JAM and it became a beloved teammate.
- Kumotori [Altaria Lv.38 Female] One of my favorite Pokemon, one that I decided to have on my team since the beginning. Blessed with a nickname given to her by SharkOnDarts, himself
- Samba [Ludicolo Lv.36 Male] He wasn't the Surfing Pokemon I wanted, but he fit the music theme perfect. Plus, I never raised a Lotad before so it was cool.
- Keane [Vibrava Lv. 37 Female] Another favorite. Decided on her since the beginning~
- Trance [Medicham Lv. 40 Female] I wanted it for a Psychic type, but ended up teaching it fighting moves only, adding it to the other 2 Fighters.
Alright, I'm done.

You just had to post that picture... Also I didn't know you finally evolved Trapinch (unless you told me and I wasn't paying attention ) Anyway I think I'll shamelessly attempt to one-up you contribute to the thread by posting my own army. Kappei [Marshtomp male lvl 25] Named after a voice actor, like Bei's Hiyama. Specifically the guy who voiced Usopp and Inuyasha. Rezz [Mightyena male lvl 25] Named after blah blah blah see my earlier post. McLarson [Golbat male lvl 26] Crobat is one of my favorite 'mons everrrr. I adore the bats so much. Anyway the name comes from Crash McLarson, bassist for The Aqua bats. Kageyama [Hariyama male lvl 25] Sumoooooooo! Named for Hironobu Kageyama, singer of more anime theme songs then you could believe, including Dragonball Z's original theme. (Cha-la! Head Cha-la!) Oranjes [Slugma female lvl 15] Just caught her earlier tonight! She's named after Appels + Oranjes, my favorite Smashing Pumpkins song. And, y'know, she's orange. Lady [Zigzagoon female lvl 7] Honesty I only keep her around for Pickup/Cut/Rock Smash. To be replaced in the future. Sorry, Lady She's named after Kind Lady, one of my favorite Dance Dance Revolution songs. Pokemon...they aren't my friends, my companions, or my teammates... They're my partners.

I don't know about trading in a gem like Wario Ware, but Platinum actually looks really impressive. Giratina and the Distortion World = Eh, could be cool Rotom's Formes = But, Trainers getting animation in battle? New outfits for the player characters? New characters and storyline expansion? Ability to rematch Gym Leaders? Countless cosmetic changes? Battle Frontier? And my personal favorite: A tag battle of you and your rival versus Volkner and Flint. -dies- Yeah, Platinum looks pretty great.

I have diamond at the moment, getting Platinum(So excited to redo diamond over again pretty much with 210 instead of 150 Pokemon!..) Though I must ask, does anyone have Pokemon Battle Revolutions? I got impulsive and bought it and I love it, I yell at it when my Pokemon don't attack first and die though they should be fast after I work on the speed IV and EV's all day...lol. -Brian Paris.
