I just looped play throughs again and my Time Bomber hit level 10 so I wanted to use someone else, someone new, someone i could try out in the early stages of the game and not feel paranoid about the game throwing the combined machine borgs at me without telling me (my copy has a habit of doing that every so often, it is mean). So I decided to try out Shadow Girl. Especially since people on this forum have spoken favorably of her. But, I played with her and she didn't level up. And she didn't level up. And then it hit me, she levels up on the slow experience track. gotchaforce.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Borgs_Following_the_Slow_Level-up_ScheduleWhy? Is she really that good? I admit that I didn't play extensively with her, but I don't see anything her that makes worth her salt. Especially at a GF energy cost of 340. Am I missing something?

She is absolutely awful and I don't know why people like her.

^People like her? As cool as her moves seem at first, her strafing capabilities are downright awful.

Roach is a much better Borg than Shadow Girl.

Shadow Girl is the perfect borg... for target practice.
I really don't see how anyone has spoken favorably of her. She's just useless... and at that cost? No way I'd ever use her.

Yes, you are missing a few things. In my experience, her X attack is great for charging the power boost. But I'll admit that that isn't worth 340 GF Energy. I think I'm also missing something.
So why use her? Because she is absolutely terrible. She's very difficult to use. But that's part of the fun. She's like a death borg with an excessively high cost. And you have to admit using death borgs can be very fun at times. So, until I can find some other redeeming qualities, I'll say that that is what you are missing.
Anyone ever get Shadow Girl to level 10? I might have to do that.

Really? I didn't notice. That might be more useful if other borgs didn't also have that same ability. (Looks over and gives Time Bomber a high five) So why use her? Because she is absolutely terrible. She's very difficult to use. But that's part of the fun. She's like a death borg with an excessively high cost. Yeah, you got me there, I do like using death borgs. They are super fun. Anyone ever get Shadow Girl to level 10? I might have to do that. 900 exp into that bucket of sadness? Masochist!

why are you being so hard on that Girl BOrg? sure she doesn't have lots of hit points and her Shadow Slash can be a challenge to aim, but look on the bright side, at least she's sexy!

at least she's sexy! Can I get an AMEN?!! AMEN?!! By the way, I have now officially begun a play where I intend to use the Shadow Girl in every battle. With 106 experience already, I am... 397 battles away from level 10. Piece of cake. And while I'm at it, I'm currently using a Death Eye as my second borg. And Death Borg Tau as my third. EDIT: I just fought Usagi and Tsutomu the first time. No partner. I beat Kei and Leopard with the Shadow Girl, then finished off the Battle Girl with a Death Eye. And I'm beginning to notice that the Shadow Girl has absurd vertical jumping ability. Still doesn't justify a 340 cost, but another good point nonetheless. EDIT AGAIN: I just half-killed a Flame Dragon in about fifteen seconds with Shadow Girl.

Oh but she can't airdash. that makes her complete trash. It's not that she can't air-dash, she just descends while doing it. It can be dealt with. And even borgs that can't air-dash aren't complete trash. Death Borg Nu III can take down a few borgs with a power boost. Trash? Probably, but not complete trash. And if I want to get a bit nit-picky, Sirius can't air dash... but that's a different matter entirely.

It's not that she can't air-dash, she just descends while doing it. It can be dealt with. She can't airdash. If you ever hit the ground you're doing it wrong. Moving through the air is Just Better than moving on the ground (and dodging is about 100 times better than just running). Part of the reason boost jumps are overpriced in my opinion.

Oh but she can't airdash. that makes her complete trash. Her lack of decent air dash really bothers me. It means that she can't even attempt to fight against aerial units. If someone does have decent jumping power or a solid air boost then they can abuse Shadow Girls blind spot. She is completely a ground combatant, and is pretty bad at that. She is bad in the area that she specializes in. ... And I use the term "specializes" very loosely.

In my experience, if you can't reach your target, attack, and land to regain your jumps as your target gets knocked a short distance away, you're doing it wrong. I've not been in any situation where Shadow Girl's admittedly bad air-dash has been a game-breaking flaw, or anything more than a minor, ineffectual nuisance. It can be dealt with. As unbelievable as it sounds, I had more success attacking air borgs with Shadow Girl than with Death Borg Alpha, Death Borg Alpha II, Death Borg Tau, Acceleration Ninja, and a number of other borgs. Maybe it's just me, but I honestly don't see why everyone thinks the Shadow Girl is absolute trash.

Tell me, what do you like about her? How do you play her? (I am not trying to sound aggressive)

I tend not to pay attention to my own play style, so I find it difficult to describe it. I usually jump a few times, then air-dash diagonally toward the opponent. Upon reaching him I attack, sending him flying away a short distance. I then repeat that, usually. Of course, that's actually a pretty terrible description, so it would probably be easier to film it, then find a way to post it. How do I do that? Do I need a YouTube account to do that, or can I just make a bit of space on my iPod, use that to film it, then transfer it to my computer, then do something else to get it posted?

I would film it on my camera and upload it to youtube off of the SD card. The quality would be crap, but that is the only way that I would know how to do it with what I have. You would probably do it differently based off of what technology you have at your disposal.

Okay, I've taken a video, transferred it to my computer, and I'm uploading it to YouTube now. It apparently will take THREE HOURS to upload. (Is this some kind of joke? ) Anyway, I just did a couple of fights with the Shadow Girl at the front of my force, and a few death borgs so that I could actually finish the fights. For some reason, the video is sideways. There's probably something that can be done about that. I can set my screen orientation to portrait (flipped) and it shows up not sideways with Windows 7. And I know some computers can rotate their screens by pressing Ctrl+Alt+up, down, left, or right.
