Clannad's first season was comedy, however. The second season called 'After story' is what people are talking about when they say that it made them cry. After story itself is just about the main couple from the first season living their lives as adults, I hear. Angel Beats certainly had some thoughtful moments and good characters, but thinking back almost all of them were hospitalised at some points. The parts that made my cry however were the romance sections, Angel Beats also had a lot of humour and even some action. I can't speak for Clannad, I haven't seen one episode, but many consider it the best out of all these shows and as such I don't think it would be as sad as it is if it weren't also meaningful. Even if they were literally just pity fishing shows, I don't see much of a problem with that either. It's no different to a comedy existing for no other reason than to make people laugh. A show that can provide catharsis of any sort is certainly doing something right, after all, I've seen plenty of shows that have tried to do more but ultimately failed because they were boring to watch and I felt literally nothing while watching them, not even anger. I guess you can really get drawn out of that catharsis if a show tries too hard, though... Anyway. Since I mentioned it, watch Haruhi if you haven't already. It will certainly make you emote. It's mostly a crazy high school comedy, but it has a ton of other elements to it and the disappearance movie is really emotional. Haruhi might be better to watch than Clannad and such. I'm so proud of you. Recommending Haruhi to others? That's amazing. That alone lets me know I have improved your anime experience. *cries* Yeah thanks for Haruhi. It's pretty great and there's not really anything else like it. Too bad the rest of the source material wont be adapted into anime format...

Code Geass: Akito the Exiled episode 2.
It was pretty cool. Code Geass is the only mech anime I actually really like. It's up in my top five. This new episode causes me to raise so many questions. Is Lelouch alive after all? When does this take place? Why is Akito not dead, even after being ordered to die by someone with a geass like Lelouch's?

I don't remember the first episode of Akito too well, nor have I seen the second, but I remember it being stated that the OVA takes place during Code Geass. So Lelouch is still alive during the events of exiled. The only way Akito would be able to resist a Geass would be if someone used a geass canceller on him, or if Akito was already under the effects of a different geass that has a similar power. Maybe Lelouch did something to him? Anyway I'm watching Shiki right now and it is AWESOME. Very good vampire anime, highly recommended. I'm also going to start watching Baccano soon.

Ok Shiki has to be up there in the top 10 anime I have ever seen, and probably the best vampire/zombie related thing I have ever seen. I'm glad that after seeing 5 episodes online I decided to watch the rest on DVD. The slow pacing is never boring and the last third of the series are utterly nuts. I mean... just seriously, give it a watch, I don't want to spoil it too much...

Zombieland. I actually really like this movie. A good portrayal of things with a side of comedy to make it a bit more light hearted, and more of a comedy than a horror.

I've seen both and I honestly preferred zombie land. Hot Fuzz and The World's End are fantastic if you want to see the creative team behind Shaun of the Dead making a better movie. Not that I dislike SotD.

Well iv seen Hot Fuzz a lot of times on itv2, and im trying to think of which zombie film o watched a few years back which involved someone taking on a large amount of zombies with a pistol in a kiosk and the mags behind him in the slots on the counter, in a carnaval/fun fair

Ok, screw it. I'm heading over to crunchyroll tonight and marathoning the rest of Attack on Titan. I dislike the show so I need to have a stronger base for my criticisms.

Only managed to end up tolerating one more episode of Titan before crunchyroll ads and the show itself began to grate on me.
Decided to watch the first two episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion this evening. There was a surprising amount of levity in these first few episodes. I already like the most controversial anime from over ten years ago to one of the most recent popular anime from barely a year ago. I don't expect the levity to remain for long though, and I'm fine with that if the intention is to pull the rug out from under the audience, figuratively speaking, much like Madoka Magica and other great shows that probably took a few techniques from this.

So I just finished episode 6 and I have no idea why this is here. I've had two people tell me the series is boring at this point, and I don't get it. The pacing in this series is sublime, a rare instance where I wouldn't want anything removed nor anything added. I could be totally wrong for the rest of the series and the movies, but 5 episodes isn't a very long time and I've yet to see a boring anime movie... I wouldn't call the series perfect, obviously, but I'm wondering if it's the lack of action scenes or something.
