I had seen that. But, that's the beauty of it! Say one thing that's exploitable, and as soon as someone sees the opportunity... BAM! When he posted that, it was a year or so ago. Now, he'll go here, and see the one thing he'd wished he never see: a Falcon Punch pun that he helped create by accident! Lol. I'm mean sometimes.  |

It's the worst anime I've ever had to sit through, at least Sword Art Online and Mahouka are earnest, you get the feeling that they don't fully comprehend the implications of what they're writing. No Game No Life reminds me that humanity is awful, and that I share my both my anime culture and my video game culture with smug, sexist, arrogant waifu-pillow-hugging scum who are fully aware of and embrace that fact. Blank can somehow win at every game, but the tragic irony is that they never bothered to learn the most important, the most complex, the most 'sh*tty' game, life. They never played it because it was too complex, they say so right there in the first episode. They never played life because they didn't have the common sense, the common courtesy, to at least try engaging with the game, engaging with people, to even pretend that they were the slightest bit happy to be alive. Not saying everyone who likes the show is awful, but escapism enthusiastically wallowing in everything wrong with Otaku culture is it's main appeal. As far as I'm concerned, there's healthy escapism along the lines of Narnia, and then there's this. I can just about tolerate its existence and its popularity, but if it ever gets a second season, I will tear it apart second by second. It's about all I can do. ^Also what Steve said. It proclaims to be smart yet an animation screw up suggests that it has less knowledge than a 3 year old when it comes to chess. Otherwise its animation and music (that opening is amazing) is excellent, (though the colour palette hurts my eyes slightly) not to mention I'm sure many people were drawn in by the infectious energy oozing out of every moment of the show. I just wish so much solid work and such energy was being put towards a more worthwhile project. But hey, Madhouse are doing both Parasyte and Death Prade this season, so it's all good. |

No idea  Also al, and to an extent steve, the show is making fun of all those things while trying to have a plot. Blank stated that they were notorious cheaters, so why would they follow chess rules? They wouldnt, i watch it because i think its hilarious how dead on they are at making fun of otaku culture. Do some things stand out like lack of chess rules? Yes, but they wouldve ignored the rules either way, so why care about that slip up? Idk i think your being to hard on something for doing exactly what it was designed to do. Thats like hating a car for running too good and getting excellent gas mileage. Unless im reading your posts wrong that is. Also the colors hurt my eyes from time to time as well, i like the color palette choice, but it does get a tad, rainbowey at times. |

It wasn't that silly chess game from the first few episodes we were talking about, it was a normal chess game the sister was playing in a later episode, she was allegedly playing it legitimately, too, and the show didn't tell us that she was cheating.
There's a difference between using satire to make a point and using satire because it makes you *look* intelligent. NGNL is the later, it's bad art telling you that it is bad art because it adores bad art and wants to be the best repugnant pile of pandering shitty art that it can be. NGNL is a murderer telling you that he knows killing people is a crime as he stabs you to death. The show is supposed to be exactly as you described it, and it's because it succeeds so well at what it wants to be that makes it absolutely abhorrent.
Again, basically every other bad show I've ever seen doesn't know it's bad, it just wants to tell an earnestly good story in-spite of its ignorance to its own lack of talent. Other bad shows are earnest, and I can forgive that to some degree.
