I'm interested to know what everyone's favorite mecha is? Please post a picture of it along with why it's your favorite! Right now, for me it's the embodiment of Justice, 'Super Dimensional Robo, Daikaiser' from the card game Vanguard. I love this guy because his aesthetics are awesome! He reminds me of Gaofighgar or something to that effect because of his chunky proportions and I dig the jewel on his chest. Daikaiser and the Dimensional Robo sub clan are also responsible for my discovery of the Brave series [which is what the cards were based on] so that earns him so many points, to me he's like the granddaddy of them all. He also has a stupid ability that makes me win games by effectively flipping a coin if the setup during the game has been optimised. So many dreams have been crushed by this guys skill and every time I bring his skill into the game it never stops being a fun game of will and determination. That's why Daikaiser is my spirit animal. He also has alternate forms! +++++++++points My only sorrow is that there are no figures of this hero among heroes.

Anya's Mordred from Code Geass is still among my favorites and I often end up basing my mechs off of it in mech rps.
Indigo's is White Glint. Or at least, it used to be.

So how come these robros are your favorites? Is there any special kind of attachments to them that make you want to pilot them and marry them? : )

It's less that I like Unit 1 and more that I really like Evangelion. Piloting the EVA, or even most mechs if you really think about it in their contexts, sound like hell, and I'd sooner marry... well, a human.

Maybe piloting an EVA would suck because of the way they work, but I think most other mechs would be a blast! And you know, everyone is aloud one robo waifu along with a regular wife right?

I always play slow, powerful characters, and Mordred is the mecha equivalent of that. The intro (meaning, the first fight scene involving it) for the mech was extremely well done and filled me with awe. I'm not even that big of a fan of mecha, but when I saw that I said to myself "I would love to pilot that.", and that's something no other mecha has done for me.

Gotcha borgs are living toys... It still counts! XD I mean, Kou and everyone are still commanding them. I know it's a bit different than actually piloting a mech but I think you could still acquaint it.

Gotcha Force is a ton of fun (and I thought fortresses were amazing the first time I saw them) but they didn't make me want to actually pilot one in real life.

Here's White Glint: I still love it, but honestly, I can't say it's quite my favorite. I think it just lacks context. It has an appearance in two missions in the game (it's really one, from two perspectives/possibilities), despite being so iconic for its game. Still, it's such a nice and pure design for a glum game, and a really memorable design overall. The honeycomby boosters on the back open up when using Overboost, and give it seraphical boost-flames. Pretty unique and flashy for a very down-to-earth game. Plus, it feels like fighting a legend when you have to fight it... but yeah, there's just not enough to relate to. Nirvash Spec 2 (or Type Zero): An streamlined, flexible design, and it surfs the skies on a mecha board. Is that not awesome enough already? It throws bladerangs while doing that, or just cuts stuff with the board as it spins in style. Surfing fluidly through the air to dodge dozens of godly-tracking missiles/lasers... it can turn into a car, too. And also a jet fighter. It can cause a beautiful phenomenon of divine light raining justice... move on its own to fight for love, and it gets a completely different, massive-sized (silly looking) final form. Yeah, Nirvash is all about style. VF-25F Messiah: This one is a plane. Like... really a plane. Not a sci-fi mecha fighter. A real-life airshow type of plane. I like how the mechs in these series are half as much about dogfighting as much as they are bipedal. And the sweet between, turning into a plane with limbs, which functions are a VTOL. Macross deals in Itano Circus, or Macross Missile Massacre, so these mechs are dodging hundreds of missiles while gracefully and seamlessly switching between their three forms through a missile carnival (and shooting missiles down just as often). Honorable mentions to Valvrave I: It's so pretty and fancy.. Too bad I didn't particularly feel for it in the anime. It has one of the most ridiculous mecha weapons ever. A giant rifle that combines its claw-shield, two katanas, two chain sickles, and a scythe, into one packed hunk of a weapon. Valvrave can go G Gundam style Gold God Mode by commiting seppuku. And... Red 5: It's, well... majestic? It has a chainsaw-gun. And a much more majestic full-power mode. Again, I unfortunately didn't exceptionally like the anime. To be honest, I'm not sure which is my favorite right now... I've kind of been stuck trying to find one that really clicks with me.

I was just searching figures of it and in the related there was this model kit I've had my eye on. They look like they're from the same anime but I can't seem to find any more information on that so I guess they're not? They look like they were designed by the same artist at least though maybe I'm just completely wrong altogether xD But yeah, I'm gushing over Red5 right now. I've never seen it before but I really like that majestic design! I've seen Valvrave 1 a lot at the model kit stalls at conventions but I never ended up getting him despite he's great design. I guess he just doesn't translate well to figure form. Like, the green energy parts just look bad on the model. It's such a shame! Also, Nirvash Spec 2 has a very similar lanky design to Valvrave but he comes off a lot more goofy to me. Especially with that mecha surfboard XD White Glint is very cool and I've never seen it before either. It looks like something that belongs in Gundam and I imagine the designer was inspired by some of the villain suits. It has an imposing silhouette that makes me think of the Kshatriya from Gundam Unicorn. And I'm sorry, Macross look so silly to me D: Jets with legs man xD Thank you for spending the time to share your favorite mechs in such detail!

Can't really blame you for not being fond of the Gerwalk form (bipedal plane), I thought it was silly at first. But I think once you get used to the whole plane-mech dynamic, it becomes really interesting as a functional form. It lets the plane form do all kinds of crazy drifts and stuff, since the bottom of the feet are the propulsion engines. Macross mechs are all about aerodynamics and don't have the conventional free-flight most mechs mechs magically have. So I think once you get used to the series, you start to appreciate a half-breed form even though it looks like a weird clash, it works awesome. But I guess you have to be into aviation, too.
Red 5 is from Majestic Prince. Not a bad anime, nice characters and awesome designs, just a bit unimpactful and rehashed. That picture is Chamber, from Suisei No Gargantia. I'm not sure they're designed by the same person, but... I doubt it. Chamber is pretty awesome, and I loved that anime. He's an AI partner just as much as a mech, and is practically a mech with a conscience.

So I can't really fault them if that's what they had set out to do upon creation. But for me, they can't compete with the more impractical designs that are out there. I like things that are over the top and probably wouldn't work in the reality because the artist took so many liberties. xD But I get why you would like them so much if you're into aviation. :D When I saw the model kit for Chamber I wanted to watch the anime for it but others things keep coming up and stopping me from watching it. But if you're recommending it I'll go out of my way to check it out.

Macross is pretty over the top, though, and that's why I like it. Rather than being powerful giant machines, they're all about mobility and speed, and they make everything look so stylish and elegant when they're spiraling around changing forms and using momentum perfectly. It just combines explainable physics with it, and I really appreciate the effort that goes into designing them. The transformations are fully designed, not like Transformers, where they just 'blob' into form, or basic folding. They take into account every part of the mech shifting, the cockpit, and everything so that it's all thorough and practical. But they're still almost on par with super robots, by pure piloting skill (and a seemingly infinite amount of missiles). Well, tell me what you think of this clip: youtu.be/2aExanGUxwY?t=3m12s (3:12 to 3:45) And yeah, go ahead and watch Suisei No Gargantia. Chamber is godly. The anime is about someone who lives in a huge sci-fi space war era, but gets stranded in a very 'basic' planet. Chamber is pretty much an overpowered super robot, but the anime is kind of about getting accustomed to a new peaceful lifestyle, so there isn't that much action (and usually it's Chamber godding everything instantly), but I think it was a really nice series, and interesting, how a super robot essentially develops into a 'civilian' in an older era where he's the only advanced machine, along with his pilot. The ending was glorious, but the series was a bit short, and left me wanting more.

It's like one of your signatures says. "Let's give them a show." xD I like how seamless they can transform during flight and battle and I like that it's a lot more than 'Big robo does beam. Other robo does beam. Beam beam beam!' which even Gundam suffers from. That being said I'm disappointed in the fact that the mechs are all CG. But I understand the constraints of animation/money and time. But I don't know if I'll even be able to get past Jet Legs.. It just doesn't have the appeal that appeals to me xD
I'll let you know when I get round to watching watch Suisei No Gargantia. It's on the list so hopefully I can convince the misses to watch it with me on the weekend. xD

Deathtrap. Cause who knew a robot could be a pet, weapon and friend.
CL4P-TP Cause I didnt think robots was capable of a sense of humor.
CL4P-L3K Er, well I dont think I need to explain this one.

I could've sworn I've posted in here before.
Jehuty and Anubis from Zone of the Enders are tied for the best designs IMO, but my favorite mech design so far is Nephtis.
