They're apparently, for lack of a better phrasing, really f***ing rare. I spent about 20 minutes looking for a Dwebble and in that entire time only found one Trapinch. (Then again, I spent about as long looking for a Riolu whose nature didn't drop its Attack and only found one Psyduck, so it could actually be an entirely mundane 5% chance for Trapinch, as well.) Unrelated question: I just got Surf. Should I already be able to fish? |

(Then again, I spent about as long looking for a Riolu whose nature didn't drop its Attack and only found one Psyduck, so it could actually be an entirely mundane 5% chance for Trapinch, as well.) Ooh, I would really like a Trapinch, unfortunately I already defeated the fourth Gym Leader so it wouldn't be that useful until it evolves into Flygon. Also don't you need the Super Rod to fish? I know that the there are only some Pokemon you can get through fishing and some you can only get through surfing |

I am nearing Driftveil City and I haven't gotten one yet. I'm supposed to be going through Chargestone Cave. And it's definitely not between where you are and where I am unless there's a house I didn't go into, so it's probably later, by the sound of it. |

At the Pokémon League. Almost beat it, too. Without even making any preparations, either. But my Lucario wasn quite fast enough to one-shot everything in the final battle with a whole bunch of Aura Spheres and my Scolipede took one critical hit, so... yeah, it kind of went catastrophically from there. Or, rather, from the start of the final battle, since I had to heal for about 20 consecutive turns to begin with.  |

Sorry i havent posted in a while well this game is to blame but i have got up to the elite 4 and this game rocks it is 40 times better than black and white and the boss battle is awesome

Oh...my f**king god.
So, forgot to save my game for one and had to start over from 3 badges.
Anyway.
I'm fighting Cheren.
My Azurill Smanters is fighting like a complete boss, his last pokemon at -6 attack drop.
So from here...he gets a crit.
And crits ignore stat changes.
So my Azurill dies in one hit.
I bring out my one other pokemon, my Snivy, Saber.
Cheren's lilipup, still at -6 attack.
He gets ANOTHER crit, and my snivy lives with ONE HP.
i recover, and he gets A THIRD CRIT, leaving me with one HP AGAIN.
I use my last recovery item, an Oran berry.
I win. And my snivy lives with one hp.
I don't know who's more lucky, the three crit in a row hax0r, or my snivy who seems to suddenly have the sturdy ability.

^More lucky than that: I once got 7 consecutive flinches with Rock Slide and Iron Head on... I forget what, something that could've utterly destroyed my Aggron, probably.

So here's my team now after audino farming after the 2nd gym.
Smanters - Lv.26 - Marill
Saber - Lv.17 - Servine
Gunz - Lv.13 - Growlithe
Randy - Lv.7 - Mareep
I still haven't started training Gunz and Randy. Smanters I trained until she evolved from friendship. (using Marill because Huge Power is hax.)
Funny thing, Smanters' attack stat is a mere 15. But with huge power it's doubled.

Even if it is 30% (which I could've sworn was only the case with Snore), 7 consecutive flinches mathematically is less likely than 3 crits. The whole surviving with one HP thing, however, I can't really speak on since I don't know the game's damage formulas, but it feels like an attack tends to be more consistent in exact damage totals at lower levels like that (in that I didn't notice any significant deviation until near the end). Unrelated: I have officially beaten the Pokémon League. Barely. I am now planning a second run of the game in Challenge Mode (assuming it remains unlocked upon starting a new game, which it'd be utterly moronic if it didn't), bringing in my (currently unused) Genesect and eggs for whatever other 5 Pokémon I feel like using. Just as soon as I decide what those are... |
