crit capture rate increases as you fill out your Pokedex. So the longer you play, the more often it will happen.

That said, treat them like critical hits in a pokemon battle. They dont happen that often, even if you have a majority of your dex filled out.

Also, it has it's own noise (if you are playing with sound on), and sounds distinctly different than the normal capture throw.

as for what I've caught with them? Nothing special. at all.

So what, it doubles the catch power of a ball? Never noticed it.

If I remember correctly, when it occurs, the ball kind of gets a 100% catch rate, and actually catches the Pokemon without waiting for the three rolls.

^Zekrom is absurdly easy to catch. XD it's got a capture rate of, like, 30, as opposed to most legendaries' 3.

Not really, Zekrom got the short end of the stick. Zekrom has a smaller physical movepool to complement its great physical attack, an "eh" STAB coverage, and no real resistances over Reshiram. (my bad, it's not weak to stealth rock.)
RESHIRAM, on the other hand, has a HUGE special movepool for its special attack, PERFECT STAB coverage, (thanks to turboblaze reshiram hits heatran for neutral with fire attacks.) it becomes downright monstrous in sunlight, and the dragon typing neutralizes some weaknesses, and fire removes its ice weakness.

Zekrom is by no means bad, but Reshiram received so much more.

He is for the same reason as Reshiram > Zekrom, but without unresisted STABS. Kyurem-W can abuse its huge 170 SAtk more than Kyurem-B can its 170 Atk.
