I'm in 100% agreement-wait, you haven't seen the moon-apocalypse? Never bothered to wait around long enough. My brother watched it for kicks and giggles though. And @ Al: they have games like Madworld and Resident Evil on the family friendly Wii. There is no way you can tell me that Nintendo doesnt have the balls to make somethin that isnt family friendly. If anything, out of any given gaming company to date, I would wager a great sum of money that Nintendo is the most family friendly game company, ever. No real need to try when they probably already are. True the game is darker and creepy, but that is one of the great joys of the game. Every other LoZ game has a more colorful, cheerful slant. This one doesnt, and that makes it different and unique. And if anything, you do end up make a happy end for everyone. Its not like the game ends with destruction. It ends with Link saving a would-be doomed world. How is that not LoZ status?

To be fair, though, they're both third-party. Not actually made by Nintendo. ...I don't really have any valid input about the actual discussion at hand, I've not played any LoZ past A Link to the Past for any substantial amount of time so I really have no idea what I'm talking about in that regard.

Here's my input. As a kid, I saw a demo station at some store with Majoras 's Mask, and was excited. I quickly noticed the glaring moon and was horrified, but it was Zelda so I didn't stop. Then a stray dog started attacking me in the town... I just let go of the game terrified and went back to following my mom around the store.
I'm serious, that game is not family friendly, and even less for kids.
But Nintendo probably is the most family friendly company, that's basically their existence. Games like Madworld have nothing to do with Nintendo other than they got permission to use their console for much more dirty stuff.

...And its not like just because its a third party game it gets exempt right? It is still on the Wii, which is made by Nintendo. All things considered, it would be Nintendo's fault too, should something bad happen. It's like saying I'ma borrow my friend's car and I cause an accident. Not only do I pay, but my friend pays too. And then he would drop an iron hammer on me. But all the same here, they be just as much responsible.
And Claxus, I have no idea how that even pertains to the conversation. You getting attacked by a dog just because you saw Majora's Mask demo. Okay. So what? It's not like the two are exclusive to one another. It's not like everyone who watched that demo got attacked too. Likewise, its not like everyone who is attacked by a stray dog saw that demo. So I don't get your point. You just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
And as for not family friendly, yea okay, so what? I think we have already established that Majora's Mask isnt one. And that it is part of the game. Just based sole on that, this game should not be re-made?

Man, lighten up. First of all, I meant I was playing the demo. And I guess Link had a mask on at the time, and the dog... Geez, that was the game, too. I know it wasn't the clearest post, but come on, follow the context... "Town," "let go of the game..."
Secondly, so what? I don't know why I just said this.
And third, I'm not actually sure how things would play out, but I don't think that if something were to happen with a third party game, Nintendo would be blamed. I'm pretty sure the other party accepts full blame in that case, unless the problem is with the Wii itself. I mean, would you blame your TV and/or DVD company if you put in a home video that made your cat faint? The Wii is just a medium like a DVD player and a TV. Anything Nintendo actually develops is family friendly. Similarly, if you cause an accident in your friend's car that was made by Nintendo, would you blame Nintendo?
And lastly... I never said anything more than it was not family friendly. And in a very sarcastic manner that you took way too seriously. That said, the situation can go both ways. Yes, it is possible Majora's Mask won't be remade just because it's a much darker game. It would be more horrorful if it was made with this generations's graphic potentials. But Nintendo may also realize its high status and remake it just because it's what many gamers want.

Well...uh... Pikmin 3 is delayed for Spring/Summer 2013! Minor delay, but it doesn't bother me as I don't own a Wii U yet. Ni no Kuni is out on PS3 for about a week now (and probably DS in Japan too). This is a game on my "To buy when I get a PS3 backlog" backlog. DmC has been out for about two weeks now! I thought there would have been a bigger splash, I didn't think it came out yet till I checked today <_<. I still have to play 1 and 3 though (going to skip 2), and are close to being next in my backlog. Metal Gear Rising in about 3 weeks! Another game on my "To buy when I get a PS3 backlog" backlog. Well, after I play Twin Snakes and Snake Eater, that is. The hard part is finding Twin Snakes for a nice price! 10 Nintendo Published 3DS games to be pushed West this year. That's already including Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing and other things, but 10 is still a huge number for them to publish alone. I might actually get some mileage out of my 3DS this year. mynintendonews.com/2013/01/31/nintendo-bringing-approximately-10-key-nintendo-3ds-games-overseas-this-year/I found the part about the dog extremely amusing lol. I was a bit older when I played MM for the first time, but I can totally see that happening if I played it at a younger age. I've always been afraid of things in games that chase me (which is why I never really played Pac-man too much, or things like Lode Runner. I also HATED the sun level in SMB3 and the mask in SMB2. Super Meat Boy's King Carions also creep the HECK out of me. Creepy followy things...)

Which won't happen until I get Pikmin 2. The only things there that really interest me are Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, and statistically speaking probably two of the 5 games they didn't mention. But the fact that I don't know what those are actually does interest me a bit more. ...You do realize the sun follows a hilaroiusly predictable pattern, right? And that you can pretty much just repeatedly throw the key to make Phanto a complete non-issue? ...And that you just made me kind of want to play one of those games?

The world of Pokemon is presented as ridiculously ideal to begin with, and all Pokemon apparently love to be captured and fight. Sure, if you look deeper into it, according to our morals, it's animal abuse and all that stuff, but in the world of Pokemon... It's all just one big happy game. Even Mario, it's a story about some monster turtle continuously capturing a princess, and Mario crushing and burning koopas and monsters of all sorts... But it's presented in a way where it's all just good fun. Also DmC didn't have a big splash because of how much of a disappointment it is to anyone who isn't a badmouthed grungy emo gangster with a very deep and dark past. I'm still looking forward to Metal Gear Rising, the demo is publicly out now, by the way. I normally can't bring myself to play violent bloody games, but wow, it's just so stylish and amazing. And three mech games coming out on PSP within this next month now...

Well, I played those games when I was very, very young, so all I could think of were that they were chasing me and that they were angry, and that there was just about nothing I could do to stop them. I did figure out that throwing the key would make Phanto go away for a bit, but he was still frightening nonetheless lol. Heck, the boos creeped me out at that age dude xD. ....and I also really want to go and play them now lol; I don't think I ever finished SMB2 and SMW. That's kind of silly, now that I'm looking back on my gaming past. Let's break out the SNES's man . And three mech games coming out on PSP within this next month now... 3 mech games in one month...for the PS P? Sony consoles live forever <_<...they just recently stopped manufacturing PS2s this past month or so lol.

Eh, none of them ever really bugged me even at whatever young age I started playing the games at. Maybe pattern recognition was just my thing at the time, so I noticed "Hey, he chases you when you grab the key, so maybe if I drop the key..." and then I laughed in Phanto's face. I can't; I have a computer monitor and three keyboards on top of the wooden box I have both copies of SMAS in and nowhere to put it to get in the box. Really cluttered room, you know how it is. Not a plug to be found either, nor shelf space, or even floor space, really. ...Fortunately, I have a PS3 controller and a computer that doesn't have a monitor on top of it, so I have the functional equivalent of an SNES. Close enough, I say. And three mech games coming out on PSP within this next month now... 3 mech games in one month...for the PS P? Wow. ...Wait a minute, you haven't beaten SMW?!

...Wait a minute, you haven't beaten SMW?!Nope. I always have a ton of the music stuck in my head all of the time (Mario music used to be so catchy lol), but I don't think I ever actually finished it. It's a crime, I know, and I do feel ashamed right now .

Well, the PSP was never that great here, and it's basically dead now, but it's still pretty hype in Japan, even more than the Vita. All three of said mech games are Japanese only... But Carnage Heart EXA getting localized is still like a dream. Not only is the game a little over two years old in Japan now, it's also an incredibly obscure game title, coming to a portable game console that's practically dead in the US now (just 2 other games releasing so far). But if I had to choose one PSP game to be localized, or even just one game to have on PSP, it would be Carnage Heart... It's almost too ideal that such a game is getting localized here and now. Although, God Eater 2 is coming out soon in Japan, too... Unfortunately, there's no plans for a localized release because of only-decent sales of the first one and the deadness of PSP here. Also one of my favorite games. Not to be a weeaboo or anything, but man, I wish I could understand Japanese, they get all the awesome mecha games and stuff.

To be honest OoT's Wallmasters scared me more than anything in MM. And I didn't play OoT until I was 10.

Well, I'm pretty sure it was mostly just me... I mean, when I was like 14, I was playing the King Kong demo and had to turn it off and leave when the V-Rex appears and roars at you from a distance.
Around the same time is when I got Monster Hunter, and I was scared just fighting little velociprey... Then I got to the early mission where you have to raid a wyvern's nest and take an egg back, and the wyvern saw me... I was completely terrified, but I mustered up courage to attack it with the virtually useless weapon I had, got hit once by it and saw my health go from like 100% to 5%, and quickly ran out of the area... Abandoned, saved the game, and stopped playing for a few days.
Monster Hunter was my Christmas present, so I tried to give it another go, and my brother, well-knowing of my cowardice, suggested I try playing online. After a lot of refusing due to not wanting to be the pathetic starter n00b, I did play online... And it was then, fighting alongside three hunter strangers to take down a wyvern, that something clicked within me and awakened the courageous hero within me. I realized that together with friends, I could take on anything, any monster... And even going it alone, my friends are always in my heart to help me carry on fearlessly.
Okay, it wasn't exactly like that, but somehow after doing a hunt online I never really feared stuff in games, not sure why, I just got over it then... And I'm getting off topic... But really, I was pretty... Wimpy. I'm sure an ugly-faced moon and a dog chasing you isn't really that scary. At least, it isn't now. Still, I was scared of like anything back then... My actual opinion is that I don't really find Majora's Mask too dark or anything unless you get the moonpocalypse scene thing for failing. But there is a pretty strong sense of impending doom...

I forgot how old I was but I just remember I couldn't sleep Nonetheless years later I'd still love to see an MM remake. Just throw a T or E 10+ rating on it instead maybe, then they don't have to worry as much And Wallmasters scared me half to death too

And Wallmasters scared me half to death too Yep. Good times. Well, no, horribly terrifying times, but they were memorable lol. What's funny is that they really make some of the temples amazing overall for me (or was it just one temple? I don't remember). In other news... www.theverge.com/2013/1/31/3939410/wsj-playstation-orbis-ps4-will-arrive-later-in-2013The Wall Street Journal says it's a teaser for the PS4, to be announced on February 20th and will be released this year. I tried to look up the original article, but apparently you need to pay so...yeah lol. Take it with a grain of salt I guess, but I can't really see it being anything but a console release or a huge mountain of games unveiled. That said... what the heck man...I'm just getting into the PS2 (aside from DDR, my PS2 was a DDR machine ), and I haven't even touched the PS3's library yet. I was going to get a PS3/Wii U soon...but if PS4 releases this soon AND has something like The Last Guardian and is BC with PS3 I don't know. Talk about having too large of a backlog, and not enough time to get through it. Too many good games released in such a short period of time...

Granted, I'm only saying that because I saw a thread on GameFAQS about 10 minutes ago with a YouTube video I didn't feel like looking at followed by a lot of talk indicative of the PS4, but still. The PS3's 6 years old and the Wii U's already out, PS4 now is to be expected. You won't need to worry about backwards-compatibility being a thing; Sony's not going to bother with that. They haven't really had BC since the PS2. "But what about the PS3 playing PS1-" That doesn't count. That doesn't deserve to count.
