Kinda funny, Yosuke's packs had Labrys and Akihiko I believe. But I also started to like Labrys due to that. She really does get a cool visor, and has a cool moveset. I'll see about getting the game again soon...

I'll see about getting the game again soon... Labrys is cool also but I simply much prefer S.labrys. After watching a short tutorial video, taking on some challenges and training for about an hour, I decided togo for a few matches online with S.Labrys. ... Well, the first match I thought was fine. Kanji. Pretty good but I mopped the floor with him with my newly aquired skills... Then a different Kanji came along... rank C, but his first time with Kanji online. Things were going fine until I started winning. Then the grapple spam began... your morale kinda goes after a few fights with one of them doesn't it? It would be so bad if the animations weren't so long. Even so I beat him to death in a couple of rounds with actual combos and such, but oh well. I guess I'd resort to cheapness too if I were about to loose to an F+ whose only just started using a character for the firs time as well... Then a cheap Elizabeth came along... lots of ziodyne spam... almost made me want to show him how it was done, but my 'liz skills don't work with S.Labrys. Especially annoying since Asterius needs constant attention. Oh well. That Chie was fun. She had actual skill but I was able to win in a close 3rd round. My first outing may not have been as good as my first time with Elizabeth, but I'll tell you what opponents aside, S.Labyrs feels ever so slightly more awesome to me than 'Liz. I think I found a new main. I use colour six for both character and persona (errm, shadow) and silver visors. Also can anyone tell me what is appealing about Akihiko's playstyle? He seems really reliant on counters and short range attacks with odd combinations. I guess if your good with him you KNOW your good at the game though... well, my least favorite of the cast in terms of gameplay but then again I haven't spent too much time with any of them yet.

Akihiko is... Kinda like Bang, I guess. They're both melee-centric characters, but don't seem specialized enough at melee to really make it worth the trouble. Although Akihiko is a bit better in that he can pull enemies in and has the weaving thing that makes projectiles go through him, and dodges high attacks. Also, his persona's slash attack is pretty great and powerful, and his rush attack can close in really fast. He's pretty fun, though, but I think the main problem is that he's easy to block and has bad crossup, and lacks range while not having anything too exceptional for melee, unlike Kanji... He's a very solid melee character, but that's it.
Yeah, the game has tons of abusable stuff... But I think you learn to deal with it all pretty easily. The good players won't spam, and the spammers are predictable and baitable as heck. Plus, depending on your character, some 25SP skills have invulnerability to easily counter. Yosuke's 236 SP is justice. If I remember right, anyway. His rush attack, it'll travel across the screen in a flash while invincible to projectiles.
The only thing I never got used to was Yu. Stupid mary sue guy. His sword dive is so fast and hits high, and starts combos. Zio car is practically instant and can travel across the map plus is a low attack. Feels like I'm always guessing which one to block... Plus, his normal combo string will end in his sweep because his Persona has godlike oki, you can't even use a reversal on wakeup, and wakeup having to guess against Yu's godly crossup. Also, big gamble... He can make his reversal safe by throwing out his beam super before landing, so you can't even punish him safely if he has enough SP. Oh, yeah, that's another thing, beam super. Yu, why are yu so perfect. And the damage he can do with his low HP super is rather absurd... It's like, on Kanji level. And unpunishable.

I understand how you feel about Yu... Luckily for me, most Yu players I meet online are bad in their own right, so I can usually beat them up or give them hell.

Wow... I've been kicking but online! S.Labrys really is something. About 75% win percentage with S.Labrys and combined with elizabeth is about 50%. Doesn't sound too impressive but I was on a winning streak this evening until I started loosing my edge... I mean, it was midnight. Not to mention it is MUCH better then my BB win percentage. I go by the title 'nefarious non-existence' right now.
Also Claxus I was looking at the leader board and I noticed that you weren't on it. Did you delete your save data when you sold the game or did you simply never step foot in ranked matches? Even then I would have thought that you'd have made it onto the EXP board or something.

I don't believe in ranked matches, honestly... I always play exclusively player matches in games in general. I find the competition to be much better, and matches tend to be more clean, with no overglorified rank points on the line. Also, player match lobbies are great fun, and there's 99% less ragequitters. I find the overall spirit of player matches to be much more enjoyable than pseudo-competition in ranked full of tryhards and people who will do anything to try and get out with some points.
With that said, I think I had a rather exceptional record with Yosuke over hundreds of matches. Probably around 75%.

I generally don't find anyone that I wouldn't normally find online in ranked matches. Plus far as I'm concerned its quicker, and joining a room suggests a certain amount of commitment to the person your playing with too. Which is of course fine with friends but not with strangers.
Also. Ranks. Rank points. I love rank points... Currently at roughly rank 30 with S.Labrys. Not too impressive considering that its out of 150 and most of the people below my rank don't even have any PR, but it feels cool to say 'among the top 30 S.Labrys players'. Its going to be tough from here on out...

Different experiences and preferences I guess... Past experiences on ranked matches for online fighters for me has been many rage-quitters, and people who just use effective yet bland strategies, like projectile spam or using mostly just one strong combo, and in general play-to-win attitudes and play styles.
I feel like its a difference from player matches, where people tend to play more lighthearted yet with skill, and try to learn more with each match rather than focus on winning. I actually like the commitment with strangers. Sometimes you'll find a great player at around your own level, and you'll duke it out for many matches. Sometimes I like 3 or 4 player rooms, too. It's fun to play with a little band of people even if they're strangers, as you fight to keep your turn and others watch, and if you lose you can take a little break as you watch a live fight or two.

I got a jittery schedule so I need to be able to drop out without remorse and at random times, not only because of the aforementioned schedule but because my attention span is awful. I'd also rather watch professional matches/combo videos.
The only time I ever encountered a rage quitter was in blazblue. That sucked. Even then in P4A at the least you can filter ranked match searches to pair you up against only people with high match completion percentages. Also, player match doesn't provide me with the satisfaction of climbing up a leader board.
Can't necessarily dispute cheapness though. Zio spamming Yu, Kanji grapple spam, and generally similar combos. To be fair, I usually use mostly one strong combo because others can be quite hard to do, but I get lucky occasionally and I never spam. It's quite difficult with S.Labrys anyway. Still, positives outweight negatives and if your experience with Kanji in a player match is anything to go by, you can meet these types of players anyway.
Anyway I'm going to do score attack mode. I want to unlock Nanako (because seriously, Nanako cheering on a shadow sounds like the most hilarious thing in existence) and Fuuka because FUUKA! *Fnaboy squeal.* However Yosuke kicks my but...

... I feel like my hands are about to drop off, but I finally completed all 30 of shadow Labrys' challenges! YEAH! I also get to listen to Mitsuru yelling into my ear! ... Yay? Too bad score attack isn't going nearly so well. I beat Yosuke! Once, then I got immediately floored by Naoto. Goddamn it, I just want to listen to Nanako praising a Shadow, is that so much to ask?

Have fun with Chie's OHKO kick, and Yukiko's unblockables, and Elizabeth's constant full HP healing... It really is much to ask.

Maybe there are alternate methods... apparently the majority of alternate methods for getting navigators are simply hoaxes.
Another Kanji spammer today. Goddamn it. He didn't stay for more than one match however so my PSR didn't take too heavy a dent.

I'm pretty sure any alternate method has been proven false. You'll have to beat it with the specific four characters to unlock Nanako... They pretty much made it ridiculous on purpose so people will go for the easy unlock by paying for them.
I think the main problem I had with Kanji is he counters Yosuke's existence. But I kinda got over it in time. I dealed with them so much I actually enjoyed Kanji spammers, they all rely on the same thing and I'd just get free fatal combos on them the whole match. You just gotta fight them indirectly, and bait them. The true Kanji players are a bigger problem...

Sure but it takes a while to fight Kanji spammers for long enough to learn how to bait them. They keep on murdering Asterius as well dammit! I Don't have quite the same problem with many other characters.
Online still going strong. Yu is starting to get annoying and Elizabeths make me die inside. They don't need to spam Thanatos so much! D: they don't even use auto combos or zio or whatever, just y,y,y,y,y,y,y... now they I can deal with easily, especially when they try to grab me with D. They're the most pathetic players I've encountered thus far.
Revelation: 2C could probably solve most of my problems Vs Kanji players. Brilliant anti-air move.

You know, after playing through Elizabeth's story, I think that there is a very high chance of her being the protagonist of persona 5.

--Spoilers--
She gets a wild card, doesn't she? I never really bothered playing the story, because my time playing the 360 isn't very immersive. The first day I started Yu's story, and kept getting so many distractions and chores that I just gave up, it's just annoying when I'm trying to read through a game and my mom calls for water or help with cooking or I have to feed or take out my dogs throughout the day
A bit of a ramble, but yeah... I didn't mind spoiling whatever story stuff I came across. I still don't really know much, but I heard a lot about the shadow ops and Elizabeth possibly being a main character, and Labrys saying "Do you understand the words coming out of my mouth?"

You need your own living space... my life used to be like that. If I returned now I'd go completely mad and I'd probably murder someone/thing.
Anyway, yes she does. The fool specifically. A major part of her development in the story is also her coming to the realisation that while previously she had only been interested in the velvet room guests who bore the wild card (Yu, Aigis, and Minato especially) she had neglected the importance of the actual people who the wildcarders had actually bonded with, which is why she is granted the wild card and states that her journey has only JUST begun now, which appears to be creating bonds in order to permenantly kill Erebus and free Minato's soul. (Actually, apparently the P3 movies are officially calling him 'Makoto Yuki' now. I'm very much hoping to see some fanart crossover with Makoto Naegi in light of this) Anyway, it makes sense that she'd be the protagonist in the next game in light of this. I 100% approve since it would be nice to play as a female character in these besides FeMC, and I love Elizabeth anyway so... yeah. Then there's the shadow operatives and the malevolent entity... which people are claiming may be a persona 1+2 villain's return, then there's the shadow operatives, the P4 cast deciding that they want to pursue the malevolent entity... yeah, P5 has a lot of loose ends to tie up.

completed the story 100% last night. Yes! So I unlocked teddie navigator and now I have the hype for persona 5, and I can also focus on my online exploits now. Its just a shame that there appears to be less people on these days compared to when I first got the game. Maybe I'm just going on at the wrong times. mmm... well, maybe challenge mode and score attack. I got to stage 3 once. That was fun.

PERSONA 4 ARENA 2!!!!!!JUNPEI AND YUKARI PLAYABLE? YES PLEASE! LETS HOPE SOMEONE COMPETENT LOCALIZES IT THIS TIME! EDIT: More stuffSome more information there. I really like the idea of shadow characters and if you look at the comments, apparently someone translated the bios of Junpei and Yukari and found out that Junpei became a baseball coach and Yukari became an actress of sorts.

Well, now that's pretty hype... I always did want to buy P4A back, but I'll just wait for this. Actually, I don't see me buying any more games for a long time...
