Spoilers below... Beware, anyone who's not Al or Steve. It's the chapter where Pit suddenly finds out he's suddenly been lost in a ring for 3 years, and comes back to find out he and his army went evil. Then reunite with Magnus, and spend the whole chapter fighting Palutena's army and then Pit. Then the last part, Palutena won't answer Pit and he flies with Viridi's help instead, only to find out Skyworld is in total ruins, and Palutena has gone evil. It's just so serious and climactic after 17 chapters of almost pure-funniness. And then to top it off, all the menus change to Viridi's with a really sad theme.

Ahh, so I was right.
I think Palutena is one of the scariest support characters outside of GLaDOS or the narrator from the Stanley Parable.
Thing is, she's really unpredictable and she does it with a smile. It can go from a humorous conversation between her and Pit about something random while he's literally out risking his life, to a scene in which she goes 'oops!' over attracting a bunch of monsters to you, with the same light tone. Also, she controls your flight patterns, and Pit is dependent on her completely. Her laziness caused the world to descend into one of war and suffering. Thats brushed off lightly. When she turns evil, I thanked the heavens that I was finally being manipulated by someone who was at least honest with her intentions and in all honesty, actually treats Pit a little better despite her angry remarks (one of the reasons I switched back to Viridi's menu's in the secret options after completing the game). Also, there's the whole heart donation thing where you give precious hearts to her for absolutely no reward, and a fireworks power that is supposed to be 'in praise of palutena' in fact, the whole game is in praise of palutena!
Yep, she scares the heck out of me.

Doesn't a certain someone turn evil for a short time around that point? A certain someone who I think is the scariest thing ever? (I'll explain if I'm right) Sure, but it's not exactly... saddening. eh, thats just my opinion

Also, there's the whole heart donation thing where you give precious hearts to her for absolutely no reward, and a fireworks power that is supposed to be 'in praise of palutena' in fact, the whole game is in praise of palutena! Yep, she scares the heck out of me. I guess we saw Palutena completely differently... But I think the part about random conversations while Pit's risking his life is a bit unfair. Because pretty much every character in the game does this, and Pit even gets kicks out of it and does it himself constantly. And ultimately everything Palutena does is just for Pit. She does kind of 'troll' Pit sometimes, but I thought it was more just in a kind of playful and harmless way (thus always smiling), not creepy... Even with the monster pheromone 'gift,' I'm sure she knew Pit could handle himself, and it was to attract the Hewdraw head they were searching for. I mean, he's been through way worse, and heck, the guy dying and respawning is brought up as canon. She does control Pit's flight patterns, and Pit is dependent on her. But that's the thing, without Palutena, Pit would basically be less useful than a centurion. Not counting the older games, she gives him the ability to fly, all of the weapons he uses, all of the powers you equip are her doing, she gives him a mech and other vehicles, places rails to get across areas, places food in random places for Pit, pulling him away from danger, and gives constant advice on how to stay alive and fight all of his enemies and where to go and how. She even had new sandals ready for him for when he gets back with his melted ones! Not sure what you mean about her being lazy, but I'll probably find out soon in the incoming chapters. But also another unfair point you brought up is the donation thing, because you can also donate to Viridi (for no reason). And the fireworks power secretly gives you some invincibility! But seriously, it seems like Palutena's devoted to giving all of her powers to Pit just as he's devoted to her. She's the one that brought him from shameful flightless angel to god-slayer. I'm also gonna say though, Viridi's cool, too. Just close-minded. At least Palutena admitted the people were being wrong and selfish, but like Pit said, wiping out all of humanity (which is also a part of nature ironically) is not the answer. But now I feel weird for being the only one who thought that chapter was sad... I guess I might like the game a little too much. It's the most most exciting and funny story I've played since... I don't even know. It's just so awesome. But yeah, just, putting yourself in Pit's shoes, it's shocking to suddenly wake up three years later into chaos, fighting your own allies with everything you know in ruins, and the person you're most devoted to not being lighthearted and funny and making funny comments every 20 seconds of the chapter, and instead becoming Medusa Mk II. Then even the menu changes to signify Palutena's gone, with a nice yet sad piano song. Ah well... I guess everything is different to everyone. EDIT: *clicks post and sees his post* In a weird way, it's basically my 'anime' now, I play the story nightly instead of my usual nightly anime.

^ Sure that all makes perfect sense, and I know you can hand Viridi hearts to but that was really just to fill in a menu space I guess.
Still don't like her though. I'd probably be having similar reactions to you at that point if I actually liked Palutena. As it stood, I actually expected her to go turncoat and thought that the game cheeped out when they explained why.
Still watching Madoka, though, right?

What I meant by, I wasnt sad at that when I played it, was this. I watched the story on a LP prior to playing it. I DID feel a bit depressed by it, but then I had Viridi guiding me around, and it got all better. <3

I'm sure there's still lots of kicks to be had now that Viridi is 'Pit's goddess.' *proceeds to chapter 19 with Viridi Palms*
And yeah, I'm still watching Madoka Magica... Sort of. Finishing this game's story first. Or I might watch an episode or two before, maybe.

SpoilersWell, now I'm sad again. I beat the game last night. Things got pretty epic after saving Palutena, the whole Chaos Kin thing teaming up with Pittoo, and Pit's awesome dive to save him ending up with completely burnt wings and Palutena flashing back to when he was wishing to fly on his own and being happy ;-;... But seriously, what better ending could I ask for than the new Great Sacred Treasure actually being a transforming super robot? Mecha mode is such an awesome design. Although Hades mostly just stands there staring with turrets all over him... And Pit ends everything with a mecha beam cannon. But yeah, it's like the end of an awesome anime... Nintendo Video is pretty dumb, though. Anyway, I'm far from done playing the game. Still lots of treasure hunts, 9.0 runs, weapons to make, and multiplayer... Just no more new funny 'episodes.' Well, I can still hope for a sequel that explains more about the Aurum, Chaos Kin, Magnus' power and relation to Gaol, and even the whole aftermath with Viridi. And more space pirates.

I only saw bits of it, gonna check it out tonight and then Madoka Magica... I'm not sure when they were up, but of course, because Nintendo Video is Nintendo Video, it's impossible to see them anywhere officially now, and much less so in 3D.
And now that I've beaten the game and tried pretty much every weapon save for one I haven't unlocked, I've ended up liking bows, blades, and arms a lot, just as I originally thought... But almost everything is really good and fun to use in this game. I really like First Blade, strangely enough...

After some playing some Together mode LvD against AIs for a while, I think (almost) without a doubt Aquarius Blade is my favorite weapon now. Seems pretty good overall, fast charge shots with decent homing, dashing normal shots are pretty fast and strong, and standing continuous fires like a machine gun to finish off enemies. Backdash charge shot is a defensive shot great against claws/melee-ers. I can't tell if the shots bouncing gimmick is a good thing yet, I need some more experimenting... But I have hit enemies in halls with side dashing (normal and charged) shots fired at walls a few times. Normal dashing shots just seem like non-homing 'bowling balls,' but I'm pretty sure charged shots home into opponents if they face towards them after rebounding. And even more fun, the backdash charge shot can rebound off slopes, so in some stages you can actually send the shots rocketing. Its melee can freeze, too... Plus, the blade itself reminds me of both Tidus' Caladbolg and Brotherhood and Squall's Lion Heart from Final Fantasy X and VIII. And you can even imagine the bouncing shots as Tidus throwing/kicking Blitzballs! This means now I have to start learning how fusion works to make a good Aquarius Blade... Or maybe not... I actually managed to get one together with 6 ranged stars, and Speed +4, Stamina +3, Evasion +2. I just think I can make something even better that compliments its good shots. But this one's a great speed/evasive style... ... Just like Tidus.
