Eliwood wont be in a smash bros Steve, he's already passed his prime. I'll be seriously angry if Chrom decides to replace Ike. Marth returning is bad enough, I get he's the poster child for fire emblem but Marth is a bland uninteresting character in a bland uninteresting retro game. Ike on the other hand is amazing, and I can explain why if I ever find the time to explain. If an awakening character makes it in (and one most certainly will, considering awakening's popularity) I hope it will be the tactician/avatar/MU. The character can have multiple appearances and genders instead of simple colour pallets, is a simultaneous sword and magic user which is unique to SSB and definitely among the fire emblem characters who have thus far appeared in the series, and he's infinitely more interesting than Chrom. Also, he has dark evil dragon powers which could make for an epic final smash and map. Chrom felt almost entirely pointless in awakening besides being a plot device for finding the MU, birthing Lucina and using Falchion in the last chapter and he's easily the weakest sword wielding lord in fire emblem history. He's lucky Micaiah exists otherwise I'd brand him as the absolute weakest, at least out of the games I've played. Even then, I'd still rather have Micaiah in SSB for female representation, nice appearance with 3 costumes, Yune powers, more interesting character and the possibilities light magic opens up for move sets.

The Wii U uses the Wii U Pro Controller, not the Wii Classic Controller (most likely) But yeah, that's why I probably won't get the Wii U version - I don't see myself getting used to those controls, since I've used a gamecube controller for all three smash bros games.
Anyway Claxus, those are two of the noticeable differences. You forgot Meta Knight's fantastic recovery vs. Bowser's poor recovery. If a Meta Knight gets a Bowser off the edge and pursues, Bowser won't be coming back (most likely.) Sure, Bowser's got power over MK and a suicidal move, but good luck hitting with those slow, powerful KO moves.

If I get the game it will be the Wii U version.
I say if because I'm worried the roster wont be as good this time around but I'm reserving my judgement.

Meta Knight will probably be back. Why are you worried?
That said, I'm getting the 3DS version first. Then I MIGHT get the Wii U version.
Besides, I don't know about you...but Bowser's back. That's good enough for me.

Dunno if I'll get it. I mean, it's only one of my favorite game series ever (my favorite fighting game)... That includes the new awesome version of a character that became my Nintendo favorite. But... With only a 3DS, I'm never going to be able to play with anyone else.
I might get it, but... I really hope the AI is way better. Level 9s in all of the games before it quickly became no harder than level 1s, so it gets really boring with only single player.

I'm the only person you need.

I still want a good roster to fight against and whenever a new iteration of a fighting game comes out I'm always looking for a new character who might make me think: "Oh, wow! He/She looks cool! Maybe when the game comes out I should use them instead of my current main!" It builds up excitement for me. The three new characters don't interest me, and I think only Meagan really 'deserves' to be there though the villager is looking awesome in his own right, but I'm not interested in learning any of them. That's my reasoning. Oh, and the director said that the cast might be reduced from brawl. If that's the case there will be some missing characters from Brawl. That's just not cool, because I had this crazy idea that a sequel was supposed to have more content than it's predecessor.
Still, not condemning the game just yet. Those are just my worries right now which I hope will be disproven.

Looks like I don't know what I'm talking about. I must have somehow misread some news that the 3DS can't play online with Wii U players, as the 3DS version won't be able to play online. In that case, I'll be getting the game on 3DS ASAP.

That said, where did you hear smash 4 3ds had no online?

I can't spell mega man. What was I thinking?
Uhh, anyway, I think the cuts from Melee were fine. Roy was a marth clone to begin with and he got replaced by Ike who was awesome, Lucario was a suitable evolution of mewtwo and pichu was pathetic. Toon link is young link and DR mario was also pointless and basically just mario. And that's about all I can remember. In other words, all of the cuts were accounted for and in some cases actually improved. I hope that if cuts are made to this game then the roster will somehow replace what is lost, at the very least, I hope that there are far less clones.

Link and Tink, while having similar movesets, play so much differently it's not even funny. Aside from those two the only others are Ness and Lucas, who do admittedly play very similarly. Still, that's two clones. What's wrong with that? It was a big step up from Melee which had nearly 1/4 of its roster as clones. EDIT: also, Ganondorf has evolved enough to where he doesn't even really qualify for this.

There's also Fox, Falco, and Wolf. Or so everyone says. Yeah, not even Lucas or Ness are that similar. Ness has his yo-yo antics, and all their special attacks are different one way or another. In fact, all of their moves are, the only ones you could call the same are probably their forward smashes and absorb specials (and even then Lucas' is an attack too). You may play them similarly but all of their attacks are different enough to change the character.
People just like to call out clone at anything that vaguely relates.

The term "Clone" comes about when multiple characters have similar specials, as most people who coin the term are casual players, and casual players generally spam special moves. If they see two characters with similar ones, boom, they're clones. Mario and Luigi have two shared specials? obviously clones. Ganondorf and Falcon have similar specials(which operate completely differently)? Totally clones. Ness and Lucas? Obviously. King Dedede and Kirby both puff up when jumping and inhale enemies? Definetly clones! The list goes on, heck, I've heard people say Bowser and Charizard are clones because they both breathe fire.Falco, Fox and Wolf are astoundingly different in playing from eachother, ESPECIALLY Wolf. You could argue that Fox and Falco are clones, but Falco is much more air-inclined than fox, and a master at range, though a lot slower. Fox is fast and deadly, but has to stick to close range as he lacks a projectile that actually stuns, though his reflector helps. Wolf...too different. None of his specials (except up special) even remotely do the same as the others, and he acts too incredibly different to be a clone. Much slower, heavier, and stronger.

Unfortunately, a lot of people still think they're unoriginal. I agree about Wolf, I don't understand how people can call him another Fox clone. He's the most unique 'clone' character by far, that he'd probably be accepted as a new character if he wasn't a Star Fox character.

Agreed, it's a shame. Also, we need another representative from the Pikmin series. Not another captain, they'd probably be similar to Olimar. Something like...a Bulblax. Also, fingers crossed for another Uprising cantidate.

Id like mewtwo back. What with nega evols and all. Besides no one really uses ice climbers anyways, give him their spot Im still hoping for another pokemon trainer/ minncino. But idk if thatll happen... Also protoman, yea hed be cool. But i doubt that. Maybe another metroid hunter or black shadow from f zero, but idt theyd do any of those either. Hector from the fe game eliwood is from would be cool though. Axe crushing ftw! As far as clones go, all of the ones steve mentioned were clones in melee and charizard and bowsy do have similar movests. Actually kid bowser! Hed be great, id own errythin with mah paint brush! And vaati! Toon link needs a nemesis. Only vaatis human form though, playing as a giant eye would be lame. What im really interested in is seeing how wii fit thingermajig plays. Not that id use her, but it seems an interesting concept. As does megaman. Like does he get an attack for everyone he kills? I mean, original megaman was like kirby with a gun... roughly.... Anywho, umm whats some other blatantly nintendo game.... custom robo? Eh. Maybe.

Hey, I used the Ice Climbers... Even if they're not exactly cool, they're fun to play. You can desync them, and it's like controlling two at once (as in, separate moves at different times), it's kinda crazy. They also have OP chaingrabs, but that takes some skill. And Charizard and Bowser... If those two have similar movesets, then Squirtle or Mario are similar to Bowser, too. Well, Custom Robo has near infinite potential for a character, it's a shame it's only ever been an assist. Ray 01 would definitely be a stupidly awesome brawler. I also want to see some Chou Soujuu Mecha MG. It'd likely be an assist trophy at best... But seriously, the game's pretty incredible. It's a DS mech game where you control mechs with the touchscreen (and d-pad to move). Not only that, it's almost like Gotcha Force... There's over a hundred mechs to collect, each with their own touchscreen 'cockpit' controls and attacks and functions (some can transform or have other gimmicks)... And the game's about fighting some evil force of robots that all look similar (and all have the same face). Don't get me started on how you can pick up and toss buildings around (even with a sword ) Anyway, it's a seriously underrated beautiful gem of a game with a Gotcha Force amount of content and replayability... And a super fun control scheme that makes it very mech-like and awesome to swing your fists or weapons around and crash the death force into buildings. Well... I just wish it'd make some sort of appearance besides a single trophy.
