My youtube conked out literally when the last fight ended.
I'm glad Samus won, she seemed like the underdog because Kirby was dominating throughout the entire tournament.

Neither were really underdogs, though. They both won their matches the same way. Keeping away and abusing good chances. The announcers just gave Kirby massive amounts of attention because he's pretty famous.
I'm just disappointed Zero won the finals due to keepaway and sudden death, and now is recognized as the world's first SSB4 world champion. Sure, it's fair play, but who really put in the effort? He's the world champion for letting a timer run, and then getting a lucky hit. Despite that he pretty much had that match lost. The Kirby was so impressive in that final battle, so many perfect blocks, dodges, and counters, weaving in through ZSS' keepaway stream. I have to say though, they did say ZSS is considered the best character in the game and it kinda shows, she'a virtually unpunishable with devastating power, speed, and range.
I also have bias because he's a shameless player who has used non-honorable tactics all the time, but oh well. October 3rd, now...

ACtually I think they said that it was normal Samus that was the strongest in the Nintendo testing. OMG THAT PALUTENA TRAILER. Animation was rock solid. Haha link still doesn't talk, though

I thought they were talking about the armored Samus but no one actually used that version, and if I remember right they were talking to the ZSS player? But I'm pretty skeptical because that ZSS racked up huge damage and knockback easily with great range and speed, and seemingly unpunishable even after some amazing blocks/dodges. Well, tiers shouldn't make much of a difference anyway, and it didn't. It was just an anticlimactic finish for such a big title.

Yeah, I was rooting for Hungrybox the entire time (after the Bowser player lost in the first round ofc,) and I knew as soon as the timer started getting low that Zero had it. Kirby has never been a spectacular character, he's always had difficulty dealing with range. Oh well. Good job ZeRo.

Also, I desperately want to see more Little Mac.

Oh, it was intense all the way, one of the best Smash matches I've ever seen, except for the sudden death...
Was really hoping Zero had another one of these moments:
Little Mac does look tons of fun. He's a speed cannon... With basically no recovery. Whoever was playing him sure made him look fun, they really got into the action and showed us what he's capable of. Well, after that amazing Palutena reveal trailer, I think I've had enough hype for the game. I think there's still going to be a Tokyo event before the game comes out? In any case, pretty long wait from here on now...
And lol, the final Smash surprise... Reggie!

I think you having to bring that up against me insultingly is the problem here. First of all, honor is a thing, whether you like it or not, especially in a fighting game. The Kirby player just hanging out on the side of the stage doing nothing or taunting in all his matches... Smart play? Of course, but there's nothing reputable about it. On the verge of losing after being well-outplayed, then just running away until the timer resets things to a situation where their exceptional keepaway almost guarantees a victory? Same deal. It's smart, but it didn't feel deserved. You know, saved by the bell?
Second of all, I already admitted it as my own bias and moved on to talk about other stuff. Why do you have to be insulting? I like playing honorably in games, especially in a duel setting. I didn't particularly like that someone won by other means in a fighting game. I said that's how I feel. And moved on. Is that so bad?

I dunno, it just feels very insulting and incendiary to the players themselves, not that they really care since they can't see the conversation, but the very idea kinda peeves me off.
My post above was 'just my opinion', does that make it any less (apparently) insulting? People very rarely care about where others are coming from, they only care that they got hurt. I'm sorry if I hurt you more than I intended, though.
I'm pretty much just trying to say that you shouldn't call a high level player 'shameful' just because they don't play the way you want them to, and I have no problem calling people out on such an incendiary statement. Think what you like about their play style, be as unsatisfied as you want, but if you want to uphold values of honor, then learn some respect. Being a good person is more important than the way you actually compete. It's kind of a shame most of that probably came off as redundant since you weren't actually playing... *sigh*.
It feels like the internet just clams up and becomes hostile if you dare to tread outside of the territory of 'objective' discussion, or discussion in support of one opinion. Having a point of view doesn't mean it can't or that it shouldn't come under scrutiny.
EDIT: Oh but apparently Shaft animated the Palutena trailer! ... Wait, what? Where were the tripy backgrounds and head tilts? If shaft can animate like normal people, why do shows like Mekkaku city actors look so unappealing? I swear Madoka is still the only anime from them that I've enjoyed to date. That and this Palutena short.

The last part of your previous post seemed insulting. Not to mention the obvious tone behind the post. Pretty hostile opinion. But tell me, is running from a battle you're about to lose, and turning it into a big gamble in your favor through outside means, not at least slightly disgraceful? I'm not sure where this about respect is coming into play. They're both great players and that match was amazing. Really, what irks me the most is whoever set up the tournament rules, to hold on the line such a legendary title with non-competitive-standard rules like that, which led to that very indirect turnover.
Overall it was mostly a casual tournament for fun and showing off some gameplay, so I don't really care. The players were all great sports, too. Though finals aside, the Kirby guy was actually the only guy I didn't like too much, for not actually showing off gameplay and playing so safe.
Somehow, the celebrity fight was one of the most entertaining.

The rules were close, but the difference of winning on time-out by percent lead or sudden death is pretty huge. Bowser really looks to have gotten buffed. His movement speed seems way faster... His drop-kick FSmash is awesome. Overall he seems a lot more mobile but still a heavy hitter. And, psst.

Come on, only three left on that list! The Rhythm Heaven guys I'm not too excited for, but Shulk and Chrom!

I wonder if they're done with his final smash, though. Probably a far-cry to say it could change, but Giga Bowser had pretty much all the old Bowser's animations, like the head-ram FSmash, but it could be intentional. Either way, Bowser looks totally revamped and scarily fast.
But come to think of it, all we got out of Pit aside from his awesome animation was one match with a hilariously ditzy player (which is pretty befitting for Pit)... Now I wish I could see more of his attacks, especially some of his specials and brand new attack animations in action.

Also yeah, Bowser's pretty scary in terms of strength. Mentioning of which...anyone remember the fights with villager? That slingshot attack sure seems to have some very good knockback...

Guess I should have seen that Smash Run thing then... I stopped watching and just listened for a while when they said the 'surprise' they were going to show was Smash Run.
Villager does look pretty good, though. I didn't pay that much attention to them, but I did notice at some points people flying away from Villager and being surprised at the knockback.
