I don't think there's a topic for general failure in games, so I made one.
So I was playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl, trying to get 1000000 points in All-Star mode on Easy difficulty. It's harder than you think.
After failing with Olimar (only got 200000 or so), I tried again with DK.
First level: Game and Watch gets spit out by a Gulpin and dies at 70% or so.
Second level: Peach and Luigi stand on the road watching the cars run them over and die after I took down Mario and Bowser.
Third level: Diddy tries to jump over to where I'm waiting to headbutt him repeatedly. He gets burned and dies. DK gets to about 40% and I decide trying to headbutt him on the left side of 75M is too hard, so I go to the left and wait for him. He gets burned and dies.
RESTART!
Now trying with Ivysaur.
First level: Game and Watch gets sent flying to the left a bit by me trying to hit him with Bullet Seed. He lands on one of those balconies or whatever they are on the left side of the level. He stands up and walks off the left side of the screen.
FAIL.
Anyone else experience any failure of some sort in a game?

What a fun thread.
I wish this had been around a few days ago so I could have posted this in here instead of in epic moments:

My brother and I were engaged in a multiplayer match.
His AI ally pulled out a Death ICBM.
I was Blue Striker and my brother was Cyber Atlas.
The Death ICBM flew around for awhile not really going anywhere or after anyone before it decided to crash into my brother
On top of that, because I was Blue Striker I avoided the blast entirely."
But not to add something that is not copy/pasta
This thread reminded me of a youtube video.
I think this video sums up the heart of this thread.

There is quite a few times although I can't remember alot of them. Not sure if this counts but once in Fallout New Vegas, I had to go across a hill for a quest it was getting late and I found this shack to rest in. When morning came I got out and a few seconds after I got out I was swarmed by a pack of Cazadors (also was a bit of a scary experience especially in you see what a Cazador swarm is like up close and personal). Also my friend when he started the game decided to venture out of Goodsprings soon after he started. Next thing I knew he was running across the town, being chased by a Giant Radscorpian. ;D If I should name a moment in Brawl. In Cruel Brawl as soon as I dropped to the ground an Alloy grabbed me and upercutted me off the screen. And it was less then 10 seconds...  |

That happens to me all the time. Or, it would if I actually went in there ever without a well formed, usually unsuccessful plan. I got 12 kills with Ike, but that's the only thing of note I've done there. A bit of failure on my part - I thought I already beat Melee All-Star on Very Hard with Mewtwo, but I didn't. Naturally, I tried it. I got in a one-on-one fight with Samus and lost. I retried, and in a matter of a few seconds I threw a full-power Shadow Ball, slid off a cliff, and tried to charge another one, then realized I was falling to my death. The time after that Samus camped for about 45 seconds on top of the top middle platform in Brinstar. A Bob-omb fell on the platform. One thing led to another, I tried to jump up and grab it, and Samus fell down on top of me and meteor smashed me. I was barely in the air at the time. I went straight down, Samus hit the Bob-omb with the attack and flew upward to her death, while I stood there unharmed by the explosion.  |

Can't think of any specific examples but the Prinny games can be FULL of these. Especially when playing on the hardest difficulty where one hit kills you (that run for me was mostly just a week long Epic Fail montage). Heck, even losing all you lives can be considered an epic fail moment since you get 1000 OF THEM, which is something can actually happen (hardest difficulty run for me)! You even get a freaking ending for losing all your lives. But considering who the heroes in this game are, it's no surprise. An unusual Brawl example, when I watching a replay that i created. Ike (which was me) tried to double jump, which in the match I did successfully, he failed and fell to the ground and he kept trying to jump up the wall, but failing since the wall was far higher then he can reach, while all the other characters stopped because of this glitch. I didn't even have any mods on. |

He and his date walked out of the bowling alley, and some guy just ran past him. He thought nothing of it.
Then a cop ran past and tripped.
My brother chased after the guy the cop was chasing, tackled him, and punched him a few times while he was down.
Suddenly, he noticed the cops were shooting at him.
He ran away.
Long story short, they killed his date, then him, because a cop tripped near him.

Yeah, I put an epic Fail in one of these forums, aha! here: Actually, I've been using nearly all of them for a while now, (except Kitsune and his annoying magnet robots) Yes, forever hate Kitsune's magnet robots. Damm you, magnet robot! no-nooooooo, dont bring my dragon next to the Death ICBM! Noooooooooooooooo!*dead*(That really happened) There should be a war against those robots! ICBM swarm!!!!!!! Yep, there you have it. Also, that's a hilarious vid Dillybar. |

In honor of the Final Fantasy thread ALL OF THE NEW GAMES! On a more serious note. My friend and I were talking last night over gmail's chat function. He... just... Homebrew Channel... epic fail typo. His name is changed to protect his self and stuff. This fail is pretty silly and if he found out that I posted it here he would be seven shades of embarrassed Friend: I wish I had an extra Wii just to hack Brawl lol me: That would be pretty awesome. I would download Lyn. Friend: Ditto. lol I'm sure she's out there somewhere. Would also download Isaac me: Excellent. We must do this thing. Friend: lol We need an extra Wii then [other friend]'s help with getting hebrew channel and all that fun annoying stuff @__@ img39.imageshack.us/img39/5338/sanstitrefmv.png Would totally make the capsules into this XD me: Hebrew channel? The cops probably attacked your friend not because he tripped them but because he attacked the guy they were chasing. That is annoying part about the engine, how if you attack the guy there chasing they completely forget about that guy and hunt you. |

The way I see it, that was a fail of epic proportions on the part of that one Captain Falcon. I mean, getting killed by riding a rolling crate? Pretty failtastic. (And yes, I do believe I just made up a word.)
And here's a REAL fail; there is a highly illogical statement in my first post in this topic that I just noticed. Can you find it? Because I really don't feel like quoting it.

And while I'm quoting myself, I might as well draw attention to it. If I'm on the left side of 75m and headbutting him, then decide doing it on the left side is too hard, then first of all, HOW WOULD I GO TO THE LEFT?! Secondly, if I did somehow go to the left, HOW WOULD HE GET BURNED WHEN THE FIRE IS ALL BEHIND HIM?! Finally, WHY WOULD I GO LEFT?!Needless to say, I meant to say I went to the right. |

Reminds me of halo when I sticky myself, I'm used to kamikazeing nowadays when i do that! XD
A recent fail would be on Mario kart DS when i had almost finished a track and relaxed and let out a sigh without paying attention and without steering on a straightaway and hit a banana, got owned by a blue shell, hit by a red shell, then finally was rammed into lava and didn't even get to finish....
WHEN I WAS ONLY INCHES FROM THE FINISH LINE! D:<

in Final Fantasy III......my level 40-ish party died to a duo of bugbears.......SOME OF THE EASIEST MONSTERS TO DEFEAT IN THE GAME!!!!
THEY GAVE ME TROUBLE WHEN I WAS LEVEL 8!!!!!!!!!!
SERIOUSLY!!!!!!
I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally should have healed my party, but didnt think id need to, because i was in this reealy easy area.

Ti was frustrating, but I saved about 5 minutes before that, so, It was ok. My pride is broken, however(killed by bugbears, WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?) |
