Man I'm behind. I still have to see season 3. Oh woe is me. So many awesome background ponies await you.
The wait for the new season (I believe in winter?) is very bothersome. I wonder, would anyone revile or be completely opposed to the idea of Hasbro at any point in the far distant future replacing any or all of the Main 6 for new characters? Or making another pony series within FiM canon?
I for one see so much untapped potential within the series. Except for Equestria Girls.

Or making another pony series within FiM canon? I would not have a problem with a new series. As long as it develops into its own thing, I would be fine. I would hate to see them make another one, only for it to be bogged down with references to the last cast.

Actually, Equestria Girls may be the movie that was announced. I'll refrain from judging Equestria Girls until I see actual content besides character design, but even if it turns out bad, at least it spawned the Equestria Girls parody series.

Honestly, those are some of the better pony to human renditions I have seen. Does it get a pass from me? Not really. Ironically, by making them more human I feel I can relate to them less.

I'd honestly enjoy fresh new perspectives towards Equestria, whether it be in the form of a new independently related series or by completely sidelining the Mane 6 in the future.
Personally I'd be open to new themes applied to the Equestria cannon, such as more in depth views at other cities and their social, political and economic characteristics explored throughout different media (such as books, novels, etc.) Besides, despite the foundation of the show being Friendship is magic, I think exploring things that are completely beside Friendship and generic moral value #2445 within the show's cannon would be absolutely wonderful.
All in all, I'm curious to see if and how the series will evolve, in terms of defining the different historical and concrete aspects of the world that continually interact and at times clash with the "Friendship" theme.
That and we need a Braeburn episode.

If they do do something new, I hope that they retouch base with their roots. By that, I mean that in the original My Little Pony, the ponies had to fend of things that were essentially lovecraftian horrors and even a character that amounted to Satan. Satan would turn the ponies into dragons and force them to pull his flying chariot. I suppose what I am saying is that I think MLP needs more Satan to balance out the friendship.

Sounds like perfect graphic novel material.
I'm surprised they haven't gone overboard catering to the older fans.

I'm surprised they haven't gone overboard catering to the older fans. I am under the impression that one of the things they tried to do with this series is separate it as much as possible from what the series has been up to now. That way they can try and reach a new audience.

I mean older fans as in the unexpected non-targeted audience (known as bronies, or generally people who really like the show but aren't perceived as the expected demographic)
I mean catering in the sense of a marketing blitz marked by expansion into all available media and content outlets. Sure, cameo appearances with Bubbles (or Derpy Hooves, depending on who you ask) affirmed that the show producers recognized the fandom and it's non-target demographic, however I'm surprised that they haven't gone all out in trying capitalize on them financially.
For example, there's a bunch of random merchandise that's relatively low quality and marketed for younger viewers, such as lunchboxes with relatively old vector art, flimsy party accessories, and other cheap knockoffs.
I'm merely curious if they've tested the waters or not with some other products (for example I've seen plenty of pony t-shirts and other accessories...) such as: 1. High Quality Art Prints 2. Show-accurate High Quality Pony Figurines 3. Comics & other Literature
Now I'm not too sure if I'm simply misinformed but it seems to me they're sitting on what could be a gold mine yet they're fumbling about on how to extract it. An example of which I believe to be the Blind Bag Ponies, which I hear tell can be relatively difficult to find.

Especially considering how season 1 exploded they have had plenty of time to begin putting out more product to rake in the easy money. The blind bag ponies was a good idea, but I don't think they are going far enough. Not that I want them to milk this franchise, or its fans. I am simply agreeing that there is a lot more they could be doing with it.

Honestly even if they start churning out a bunch of products to maximize profits, I'd be perfectly fine with it as long as they're good quality and show-accurate.

I don't know. If Hasbro wants to make money off Friendship is Magic, I'd rather see them cater toys to the older fans and give the writers more creative freedom, as opposed to "We want to make this toy; make it work in the show" from which I believe crystal ponies and alicorn Twilight developed. Now, I'll admit that those seem to be working out more or less okay, but I'd rather see toys develop from plot than the other way around.

If the execution was done right, I honestly wouldn't mind if toys form the foundation for the direction of the story. I'm no fan of crystal ponies but they do give something else for the show to explore, though I'd much rather prefer developing already existing locales (Canterlot, Manehatten, Appaloosa, etc.) than continue to tread on shallow diversity. Also I would go bankrupt if they sold figurines akin to the following one:
Instead there are bad quality plastic figures scattered around the globe. Not too smart in my opinion.
