I will withhold my reaction until I see how they handle it.

Commencing discussion of S3 Ep 11: I'm liking Spike less and less as he continues to do absolutely stupid things, especially those that indicate extreme psychological issues. I mean one episode with Spike going all greedy and growing, but the Spike at Your Service one was kind of crazy. Add this last episode to that, and you're getting a fairly annoying little dragon. Begging for crystals? For employment? All to build a cake. And his lack of self control regarding eating jewels. He can't even seem to control his tongue. Talk about possessed by an eating addiction.

Agreed, this episode was rather dissapointing. Spike is showing more and more immature behavior. I thought he was better than that. However, I did like that we got to see a continuation of the bonds between ponies and their pets...I especially liked the part as they were dropping them all off at the library when RD had the discrete affectionate headbump with Tank.

He can't even seem to control his tongue. I c wat u did thar I agree, the episode was just okay, but it was great seeing Tank again ;D I'm really looking forward to the next two episodes, they really look like they're going to be something. ;D (I may as well make the official confession that Twilight is my favorite pony now, and has been pretty much ever since the end of Season 2. She's just so much less stock-ish [relatively] and I just want to squish her whenever she appears onscreen ) And I don't think there are a lot of Turnabout Storm watchers here but if you're hiding out there ... SO MUCH INTENSITY I'MGOINGTOBLOWUP AAAAAGH THE SUSPENSE SUCH SKILLED TROLLING :3

@steve Which part? The aiming at an older demographic or the movie? @thaduddie IP = intellectual property. So maybe some kind of spin off series or new line of products?

I'm excited! ;D TBH I'm not sure what to feel about this latest episode The whole thing feels like an ending to the series rather than an episode (I know, season 4 is coming out :3) so maybe that's why it doesn't quite have the same feel... I do realize that Twilight's growth has been threaded throughout the entire series, so it's only fitting that a whole episode be set aside to acknowledge that. Music extravaganza is fun ;D Shining Armor's voice cracked ... And those ponies trailing Twilight in the coronation look like Fluttershy/Rarity/Derpy hybrids

Pretty sure it's confirmed that the new series is something about humanized versions of the ponies. I'm rather indifferent about it until it comes out. If it's good, then hooray for more ponies, uh humans. If it's bad, then it's just another show I don't watch. As for the episode, it does have a sort of series ending feel to it. Twilight's study of friendship culminates in her finding her true destiny etc. but I thought it was a nice episode. And so many songs! As far as people freaking out about the finale "changing the status quo and destroying the balance of the show" just because she's a princess/alicorn, I don't think that'll happen. There's this image that suggests that things won't change that much. And there's also this tweet by Meghan McCarthy that suggests the Season 4 opening will address or resolve Twi's princesshood in some way.

Ooh, the new series should be fun If it's geared towards older girls though, I wonder if some bronies will be lost since they're not ... Older girls ... I also don't think the series will change much with Princess Twilight. I mean, it's obvious she's still Twilighty, she's just got wings and royalty now. It should be fun seeing her fly about ;D Now the question is whether Pinkie Pie or Twilight is more powerful ...

The whole charm of it was that it was a show directed at little girls...and it was actually good. Just saying, changing the target is just...no.

What's the problem if it's a spinoff? The normal show is still continuing, and I think changing the target audience for a spinoff is fine since it acknowledges the older audience (who is already drawn in and captured by the original show) :3 They probably didn't want to aim it towards older guys or that would just get weird in the marketing world ...

To be honest...I found the season finale to be dissapointing. Twilight becoming an alicorn was...expected eventually. However, the way they did it felt...rushed and half done. Also, I really disliked the music. In addition, alicron Twilight raises many questions that the show failed to answer. Will Twilight and the others stay friends? Yes. WIll this change their friendship dynamic in some way? Who knows. Will she continue to live in Ponyville? Who knows. Does she now have alicorn lifespan? Who knows. How has this effected her relationships with the princesses/her family/other ponies? No clue.
The premise of an incomplete spell that caused ponies to change cutie marks was intruiging...but I feel it was poorly executed as compared to the rest of the series.

I am in almost complete agreement with you.
If anything it felt like a good, or at least alright concept of an episode that seemed to be chopped up and forced into a single episode time frame.
The episode rushes by much faster than the others by tacking on the songs and it all felt like it was half-baked. I wouldn't have minded waiting a bit more if they had decided to have made it a two episode finale, because honestly they were trying to do too much with too little time and used the songs as duct tape to keep it all together.
Overall the season was "ok".
Edit: I did enjoy the "It's got to be my destiny." song however.
