So we all live in different places right. So i thought we could compare things about where we live with each other. For example here in England we have NHS (free hospital care) where as in america i heard people have to pay for any treatment they have. Correct me if I'm wrong though

" 1. Only in America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance. 2. Only in America......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink. 3. Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front. 4. Only in America......do people order double cheese burgers, large fries, and a diet coke. 5. Only in America......do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.
6. Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.
7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place. 8. Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight. 9. Only in America.....do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'. 10. Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. 11. Only in America......can a homeless combat veteran live in a cardboard box and a draft dodger live in the White House. (This was popular when Clinton was in office)"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that the free healthcare isn't that great. Sure it's free, but where will the hospitals get money to get good equipment, hire nurses, stuff like that? * enters picky mode* It's called countries, not lands. there's always health insurance Yeah but wouldn't you rather pay nothing for treatment? Coming from a family that can't afford any health insurance (which means if I get in a wreck or something, I'm as screwed as a Thunder Robot facing down Garuda), I'd be ok with slightly inferior health care if it's free.

Someone asked where does the money come from to pay for the Nurses, machines and medicine. It comes from our taxes we pay the government.

Don't even get me started on the government; I'll inevitably go into an obscenely long diatribe about how it should all be destroyed and rebuilt from the ground up, and I'm too busy trying to come up with a grammatically correct translation of some transliterated Japanese to do that at the moment.
