Celebrities getting tortured (ITV1) More like celebrity's whoring themselves out. ... Actually, I must confess to enjoying it more than other reality TV shows, if only because they get put through such misery. I really can't be bothered with it this year, though.

Just saw Puella magi madoka magica movie 3: Rebellion. OW! RIGHT IN THE FEELS! I'm not going to be feeling very cheerful for a while... Hey wait, there's a high chance that there is going to be another season! Yay! Maybe things wont end horribly after all! Except it will, because this is Gen Urobuchi. Disappointing lack of Kyubey. When he did turn up it was finally enough to make me start cursing his name for a while, and now my favorite character is miss Akemi. All of you in the americas, I recommend looking up times and places and going to see it in the cinema when it comes out, next month over there I think.

Third movie? In American theaters? What's going on here and how have I missed it all?
And speaking of movies, just started watching the first Macross Frontier movie. As if anyone else here cares about robots based on planes that can turn into an in-between.

As if anyone else here cares about robots based on planes that can turn into an in-between. wiki.puella-magi.net/The_Rebellion_StoryTimes are about halfway down the page. Early December. It's coming out basically everywhere except where I live. Heck, it's even coming out in Austraila if I'm reading that correctly. What gives? I blame the non English European countries. BUT WHAT? FRANCE!?!?!?! FRANCE! IT'S COMING TO FRANCE!? AGGHGHGHGHGHGH WHAT IS THIS TURDNESS!? Oh well. It's really good, so watch it if you like adorableness followed by your heart being ripped out of your chest. And right now I'm eagerly anticipating the reveal of a certain new figure next year or early 2015, if the excellent figurine of Madoka's ultimate form is to be believed. Oh, and the inevitable second series of course.

I didn't even know there was a second movie, nor have I seen the first. But forget those ripoff figures with no articulation.Oh, I forgot to say I'm also watching Suisei no Gargantia. The main mech has Mecheor colors. It's an extremely refreshing experience of an anime. There's nothing else quite like the world it sets. A super robot inter-galactic soldier from a militaristic space society ends up stuck in this planet covered in only water (and rusty fleet-cities with terribly outdated technology and mechs) and where people value each other and work together. It's a really nice experience to learn about the setting along with the main character, while he slowly develops from a ruthless and heartless killer who only seeks benefit from others to someone who enjoys having friends and having fun. Great opening song, too, and the ending's so nice.

The first two movies are just recaps of the series, so you don't need to see them. Still, I think they updated some of the animation from what little I've seen so it's sure to be even more of a wonderful visual expereince. Going right ahead to the third movie should serve you well as it leads on directly from the first series even if it seems strangely different, contradictory, and sickeningly upbeat at first.
Oh yeah I saw some of that show. It's one of Urobuchi's works, the guy who wrote Madoka, so don't expect things to remain cheery for long. He's so dark and thoughtful and that's why he's my favorite writer of all time. Still, Gargantia didn't interest me that much. I actually did look up some of it's plot and it seemed good but otherwise the show wasn't for me, which is a shame because I really did like it's setting and the ideas behind it but everything else felt totally lacking for me. You're sure to enjoy it though, I'm sure, just don't expect it to be all sunshine and rainbows. Trust me.

Yeah, I did read that the mood shifts a lot halfway. Thought you'd like it more since it has darker themes about human psyche and societies... But ultimately it's still a hero vs. evil thing and a developing romance 'till the end even with the added darkness, and about the change to a more carefree lifestyle. It's not slice of life (and a mecha anime at that), so it's to be expected that it's not all sunshine and rainbows.

I felt it rushed to its conclusion without going too in-depth with its themes, but despite that, I did enjoy the anime and the art in it was quite beautiful. The OVAs apparently go into [redacted character spoilers], and a second season is said to be in the works so I'm definitely looking forward to watching those. Fun fact: Suisei no Gargantia and Kakumeiki Valvrave both aired the same season (Spring 2013) and both prominently feature futuristic war mecha and an emotionless, grey-haired, purple-eyed teenage soldier, whose four-letter name begins with L, who was raised in a militaristic dystopian space society and extensively trained in combat, and now must learn to get along with others after he finds himself stranded with normal Earth people.

So, that is ironically enough like the same scene. I just watched the first hunger games movie, it was brutal, but good. I started watching i think its called hero tales? Or legend of the hero? Idk its about people with star signs, two of whom are fighting over a magic sword or something? Ive also been watching max steel. Because that show is ridiculous. And kinda cool for my inner child since i watched the original as a kid before the reboot this year.

Valvrave was good, too. Waiting for the second season to finish so I can start watching it. Was L-Elf actually stuck, though? Felt like he could just kill everyone and escape with his gameshark-ness. But chose to cooperate with Haruto because of Valvrave. At the end, the only thing that really changed about him was that he stopped killing everyone he looked at.
They're still suspiciously similar in their background and appearance, but I would say their personalities are different enough. Ledo actually has personality and emotions, anyway, and tries to get along with people in a similar situation that L-Elf just massacres. But geez, you could fool people who haven't seem the shows saying they're the same guy.

L-Elf is more figuratively stranded; he could easily overpower Haruto and Friends and escape but he'd have no where to escape to. Dorssia considers L-Elf a traitor, and everyone else considers him a Dorssian. And I can't remember which season of Valvrave this is revealed in, but L-Elf has emotions, he just represses them; Ledo has some semblance of emotion, but doesn't know what emotions are (at the beginning of the series at least). But yeah, I just thought it was an interesting parallel if I generalized their circumstances and exaggerated their similarites. Valvrave and Gargantia aren't close to being the same.

Suisei no Gargantia has turned out to be easily one of my favorite animes... Tl;dr full of spoilers up ahead. About the dark themes and all... Well, I think it's all stupidly overexaggerated, honestly. With everything I heard about the 'second half,' and it being from the Madoka Magica director, I was expecting people to start dying, and something like the Galactic Alliance finds the planet and starts wrecking havoc full-scale. In the end, what was it? Just one guy who took over a small fleet and turned them into a... Can someone remind me what you call it, the type of community where work and reward are directly related? The only real heart-wrenching thing was when civilians were sacrificed...
But it was also right at that point Ledo truly realized it just couldn't go on anymore, and then the battle ensued. I can't really tell if the duel was just plain extraordinary, or it was only amazing because it's the only time in the entire anime where this war machine does more than blow things up effortlessly or simply carry around boxes, or is used as a blacktop to cook. But for whatever reason it may be, it was rather breathtaking to watch the two super robots duel in the skies after the rest of the anime.
And, I nearly died at the final episode, when they halt their battle temporarily, and Striker (the enemy robot who created an oppressed but 'beneficial' society) begins explaining his rationalization , and suddenly Chamber (our main mecheor) speaks up with "Negative" and keeps shutting down everything Striker says, in the defense of how humans have their own societies and how they live their lives for more than just benefit.
I've always loved machine AI, and I would say I've never seen it done this well. Chamber is truly a learning machine with logic, and isn't simply a staple device that spews out data and doesn't understand humans. Chamber is the mech who supports and oversees the development of pilots. He exists solely to set them up for success... He learns about human societies alongside the militaristic Ledo, and they both slowly change and begin to value and understand human life. I think I was close to crying when he ejected Ledo, and went down in a final flair of glory saying "Go to hell, metalhead!" to take down Striker.
But a second season, huh? I think it was actually one of the few anime out there that really leaves nothing behind that needs answers or continuation, despite how short it was. It's kinda hard to imagine the series going on without Chamber now. All I can see now is a semi-slice of life continuation... With the action being Ledo fighting pirates in non-super robots. They can also have the Galactic Alliance show up and ruin everything and Ledo gets a new mech that doesn't care about human life and has to learn it all, and then it all turns into a space opera about stopping the war against the hideauz, but I really hope they don't go with that. Oh, yeah... Chamber's voice is the same as Switch from SKET Dance (who only talks through a computer voice program, and his talking style isn't that different), I knew it!

Urobuchi was the writer, not the director. I'm fairly sure that he's never directed any project, though I hear fate zero was mostly his own creation (not the fate stay night franchise I stress) because they were light novels before they were anime if I recall correctly. Anyway, writers and directors are two completely different things so don't get me started. But you're in luck, a project Urobuchi is involved in usually manages to create a sequel that continues the original show well even when the first show wrapped up nicely. I'm not sure if it is down to him or mere coincidence.

Time to watch some Get Ride! After having found out about this through the Gotcha force AMV, it looks like my perfect type of anime... Just a lighthearted shonen mecha action anime. Seems like it's about aliens attacking the Earth, and only these mech weapons can fight them. Except, it's played out more as a power-rangers-esque team, that treat it almost like a sport and try to compete for how stylish they can fight evil aliens and capture the hearts of their fans.
It features plenty of HENSHIN, HENKEI, and GATTAI, and giant robots surfing. What could possibly go wrong watching a show like this?
... It's not subbed. I'm so heartbroken.

I've been in posession of the first volume of 'Noein' for a while and I decided to watch that. That was good so I'll probably pick up the complete series. I'm also slowly making my way through Gosick. I'm obviously watching KLK weekly and I've tired of blazblue alter memory. Im going to watch hellsing ultimate soon since I'm getting the first half of the series for christmas. I've also been considering watching 'Majestic Prince' because it's a mecha anime and I'll be able to go HA... I watched a mech show that Claxus presumably hasn't! Speaking of mech shows I'm also planning on watching the best mecha anime evar, (apparently) Neon Genesis Evangelion because I noticed that the first 2 rebuild of evangelion movies can be brought really cheaply online.

That's funny, I was just going to continue watching Majestic Prince from episode 17 tonight. I just haven't mentioned yet how ridiculously beautiful Red-5 is. I swear, they handcrafted it just for me... It's like, on a Nirvash level of love. If it had a surfboard (and transformed, maybe), I think it'd easily became favorite. Well, easier than easily. I mean, it even has a chainsaw gun. That's the ultimate and most awesome form of a gunblade! King Gainer also had one... Red-5 has retractable arm blades, too, and various equipments. Anyway, you're outta your league, if you think you can get the jump on me on mechs. HA, I watched a mech show Alberenza factually hasn't! I love the anime so far, but it's probably not going to be your thing. Main character is mary sue... I guess you could say all the characters are very cliche though that sort of thing doesn't mean anything to me. The story up to episode 16 so far is nothing deep. Some special training pilots (known as the Fail 5 because they supposedly really suck at being a good team) are suddenly thrust into an emergency (and their first) battle in new cutting edge super robots. Of course, they single-handedly destroy an enemy (aliens) fleet. Then they keep training and keep fighting the bad guys and stuff. Yes, the bad guys are just plain evil. I guess the cool thing about it is that they become famous rather quickly after that, and become constantly under pressure from the mass media for every battle they lose or win. It focuses a lot on the characters, there's much more of that than mecha. In short, it's a mecha anime that doesn't exactly try anything new, and isn't afraid to be stereotypical, but that doesn't at all mean it's not good. But you better turn to Evangelion if you want your fill of not-typical-at-all-darkness-mindfreak-dark-not-typical-and-amazing-because-it's-dark-and-apocalyptic-and-bloody anime. Sorry, my wrath against double-standards is showing. Majestic Prince also has some of the most dynamic battles scenes I've ever seen. And it does have a focus on strategical and tactical combat rather than just blowing everything up. After all, it's about a team of mechs, and they have a designated leader (the main character) and each mech is designed for different roles (including a radar/analysis mech). Doesn't exactly play out like a chess game, but hey, the battles look great and have that extra bit of depth to them. Also, there's the battle scene at about halfway with Red-5. Don't know if there's any other mecha battle (duel) that's ever been that amazingly done. Maybe I'm talking too much at this point... But anyway, I love the series so far, close to the end. And best mecha anime is Full Metal Panic. Or Aquarion EVOL, considering the former isn't that focused on mechs, as much as I like it.
