or somatotypes as theyre sometimes called, have you heard of them? what mix are you?
if you havent heard about these, basically a guy in the 1940s discovered and created a method to understand these things called body types. it essentially deals with the way or bodies grow in different ways, but it also had a lot of other aspects to it as well, including something about psychology and behavior that tied in with your body type.
i used to have this REALLY good article about it on my harddrive, but my laptop died and it was lost forever. nowadays if you try searching these up all you get is a bunch of fitness sites that dont know jack about somatotypes. they just use it to back their pseudo science up so youll be brain washed and buy into their useless product.
i dont want to exclude anyone on this, so here is a really brief description of the three somatotypes. it doesnt cover the deepest psychological aspect of it, thats also a much harder thing to evaluate about yourself. you can be any mix of these, some are less common than others.
mesomorph. gains and loses fat easily. gains muscle easily. has a v shaped body. bones and limbs are massive throughout and do not taper as they reach the ends. active people that dont enjoy a sedentary lifestyle. big eaters, often have high blood pressure.
endomorph. gains fat easily, cannot lose it readily. gains muscle readily. usually has a oval shape, or triangular ^ shape to the body. the center of mass is around the pelvis, the limbs are short and taper towards the ends. a social butterfly, enjoys fine dining, enjoys sleep.
ectomorph. cannot gain muscle easily, cannot gain fat easily. limbs are long, body is thin. is very self involved, can reflect on themselves easily. external reality can be more difficult to deal with.
theres a lot more to these, but this is the bare minimum, just to get an idea of what im talking about.
so, what are you? what do you think you are? i enjoy trying to categorize people i know into a specific somatotype mix.
