no watchdogs the game where you play as a hacker, trying to track down the guy who murdered some of his family
So...Watch(underscore)dogs. Like Game Theory, I can only make this joke so many times before it gets old. Which is roughly...three. Matt Pat thrives on intentionally bad jokes, though.

Decided to do a bit of Sm4shing recently. Still need most of the custom moves.

Actually started playing Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines. It's really good and happily surprised the community is still alive in it.

You and your PMs! Come on, you should be more open here, don't be so complicated! Why not share your Friend Code so it can be added to the Friend Code list topic?

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. I honestly wasn't hyped for this game at all, but this is fantastic. like... Imagine an older FE game. Everyone is now a cavalier, except an attack takes some of their movement and most of them are ranged attacks. Every enemy has a weak point, making positiioning important. You see a third person perspective, making vantage points important for scouting your enemy and making chokepoints and ambushes important and awesome. If some of your steam (what you use to move and attack) is left, when an opponent gets in your weapon's range, you fire and stun the enemy, making them unable to advance. Interesting and very varied weapons, ranging from a leap that can get you to higher elevations you can't reach otherwise that also attacks the enemy if you land on them, a basic gun that has the defensive ability I mentioned earlier, and a grenade launcher that can lob over obstacles, making it great for cover fire. Add in humor, fun characters, a comic-book style of storytelling, and an Abrraham Lincoln that faked his own assassination to fight an alien menace (yes, it is as awesome as it sounds), and you now have Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.

I'm glad you had fun with the game, I couldn't get into it.

I have to agree with Al on this one, it's way too goofy for my taste. BTW, playing R-Type Leo.

Oh, and Steve, you should totally play Valkyria Chronicles if you ever get a PS3. CNS is much more reminiscent of that series.
Still playing Dark Souls 2, still underestimating just how much time it eats up. I thought I would be done with this about a week ago. I should be done by the end of the week, which will finally give me the motivation to start getting really productive. I hope, especially since I'm not addicted to the only other game I'm playing, EO:U. I wont have anymore once-a-week lectures to attend at the end of this week either.

Lots of people are saying this is better though so... I don't think the writing lives up to the inherently amusing absurdity of the premise or the overall aesthetic. I just don't find it funny. It's mostly all aesthetic quibbles for me, mostly preference, mostly stuff I'd grown used to in Fire Emblem and Valkyria Chronicles.

So basically its FE/Valkryia but with more wit, randomness and less depth in its story. You just played the demo. Like my problem with BD's demo, you just get a small taste of the game, so you miss on the game's personality. That said, I know how much you value story, so I'll leave it at that.

As far as my two cents on Project S.T.E.A.M., I think I prefer games with a more epic, grandiose feel to them. I'm also in to futuristic games like the one I'm playing, Warframe. It's FTP, and it's actually really good. Anyways, Project S.T.E.A.M. feels a little too comedy derived to appeal to my tastes. Though, maybe this topic would best be made a thread of, so that others could add their comments to this without clogging up this one. Just a suggestion.

Both Bravely Default and S.T.E.A.M have really long demos, and they're really good demos too. When I'm not interested in a game after a number of hours of continuous play I think I've played enough to form my thoughts. I don't think it's my fault if I don't like the game at that point. Valkyria Chronicles has a pretty bad story unfortunately. It's more generic than Awakening. It was earnest however, and I prefer earnest storytelling to tongue in cheek.

In my lack of two cents, Codename Steam resembles some midpoint between the new XCOM and Valkyrie Chronicles, less so Fire Emblem.
I haven't touched Warframe in ages, too much grinding linked to randomness. It doesn't so much affect me, though, but there's too many memories to not play Warframe with those two again. . . hmph.
Heard of an SRPG Studio that came out recently. I know I got RPG Maker for extremely cheap, but I kind of got them on the assumption that I could make SRPG's with it. My foolishness. Oh well.

You should try Warframe again. It has improved a lot over the days of old. Also, more weapons and stuff. There's even a Warframe that pays homage to Dungeons and Dragons, called Chroma. It really is a much different game now than it used to be.

. . . Tell me, are Kubrow eggs still nigh-impossible drops from the Egg Hunt quest? Because I waited until the second patch that said that it raised the drop rate for those then spent every few weeks trying that mission for a few hours for no egg. . .

The Kubrow eggs are still hard to obtain, but there is a reason for that. That's because, if they were easy drops, people wouldn't buy them. Other than that though, the game is massively improved. The current update version is 16.4.5, with 16.5 rumored to be coming out in about a week.
