As you can tell, I have a bit of a thing for racing games. Especially ones featuring touring car racing. Have you played any of the Choro Q games for Ps2? They were a fun sort of racing game, highly customizable cars (including some funny/joke car bodies you could unlock) and a lot of fun tracks. The ones on Ps2 even have a story mode and play sorta like a car rpg, a carpg if you will. Road Trip Adventure (AKA Choro Q HG 2) and ChoroQ(AKA Choro Q HG4) were the ones released in the west (there is also one on the WII known as Penny Racers (the localized name of the brand of toy cars the series is based on) but it isn't as good in my opinion) there are of course many other entries in the series, but the Ps2 ones are the best out of the bunch imho.

Have had a bad case of the flu for over a week now. Still not well and it's back to work tomorrow. Only semi-good thing about it is that I've had plenty of time to play Tales of Vesperia on the Switch. - Admin

Been playing 20XX, the Mega Man X clone not the Melee mod. Only complaint I have is that there's a little too much "platforming while dodging a hundred stage hazards that could knock you into a hole" for my taste, but otherwise it's a great game.

I've recently been alternating between replaying LoZ: BoTW and playing Okami HD on the Switch. I've gotten really fond of Okami's traditional-esque artstyle.

I've heard some good things about Dragon's Dogma. How do you like it so far? It has some frustrating moments but overall a really fun game. The fact it's a character creation game alone makes it worth playing in my opinion. - Admin

I remember recommending that one in your topic some time back about games with character creation. It's a really good game full of lots of ideas not often seen in video games, and the action has a satisfying weight to it that never gets old. I think it could have been one of my all-time favorites, but as you said, it has some design choices here and there that hold it back from that perfection.
And it's sad, because it might have been. But the game was forced to be rushed out, the director stated they only got to make the game about half of what they had imagined. And it's amazing, in a way, because it's still a game that easily offers 200+ hours and a lot of varied gameplay styles and experiences. I've played through it twice. Very recently, actually, played through it again and then the Switch version was announced... and I really wish I could shell to play it again on Switch.
It might have a lot of flaws, but it also has strong points compared to other games, and I think very few games capture the sense of adventure as well as it does. I mean, there's games like Skyrim that offer a massive player experience, but Dragon's Dogma feels much more immersive with its great gameplay and allies always at your side, that actually feel like allies that are working with and communicating with you.
If the game was multiplayer, I think it'd be one of the coolest multiplayer experiences out there... But anyway, now that the game has been ported like fifteen times to literally every game console ever (of the last two generations, at least, but it wouldn't be surprising to see them bring a GameBoy port), good sales, and that the director finished making Devil May Cry 5, a sequel is much more possible than ever. Yes, the director is the one behind the Devil May Cry series as we know it (DMC3-DMC5), and they had to choose between DMC5 or Dragon's Dogma 2, so now they might decide to pick up the latter project.

It doesn't look/feel like a typical Capcom game, that's for sure.

Pokemon Conquest
It's okay so far, but if feels annoying/restrictive/lacking compared to other strategy games. Like facing matters for damage but you don't get to choose which way you face. Range units can only target in the 4 cardinal directions. You can't use items or skills after you move. No customizable attacks or skills: one attack locked to each Pokemon, one random skill locked to each warrior. The way you manage and move your warriors on the overworld is clunky. You can't choose or swap your Pokemon's starting positions on the map.
I'm gonna keep playing, but I can't tell if it's unpolished because they didn't know what they were doing with a strategy game, or if it was actually meant to play like this.
