Hey everyone!
I'm down to make a Gotcha Force 2/homage to Gotcha Force with non-copyrighted title.
I'm here to discuss what we want to see. This is anything from improvements to gameplay to story and beyond! I've got a lot of ideas such as bigger maps, online gameplay, "Gacha" elements, interactive/evolving maps, new borgs, and anything else you all may think of!
I'm a very passionate boy with a lot of time on my hands, so I'm already WAY too into this project than I should be.

I just want a Sirius Borg. It can be redesigned, but should still be recognizable from the original.

I definitely want to figure out something more with fortress borgs. I'm not sure how far I'd want to go with this creation. If it were to evolve into a bigger online experience, I feel they'd be significantly lacking in some ways.

Revamped leveling system for sure. I have no idea what the Gotcha Force devs were thinking with that lol
Despite this game being called Gotcha Force, I'm not a big fan of the gacha system especially for PvP games. Or at least I don't like the P2W aspect. Random drops are part of the gaming experience I know, but maybe also have some kinda in-game currency shop or progression-based guaranteed drops. I do understand why many game companies are going the freemium route though.
Variety of borgs is definitely one of the things I love about GF. The fact that vehicles, fortresses, and dragons are playable alongside regular humanoid characters is really cool. Planes and wing borgs makes it really hard to have viable melee characters though, so I'm not really sure how to solve the balance problem. A switch-out mechanic might help, as would a counter to flying.
For controls, when I was younger I would have said a free-look system would be cool, but then that's just like every other FPS and TPS pretty much. So I think the lock on system is something that makes GF stand out.

A wheel/method to change borgs for tactical reasons.. Downloading an ISO to see if I can break into the ISO to fiddle with files in unity. (I only know basic C#).

Progress update for getting assets. I got to the point where I am looking at file numbers and a total file count of 3,194 from the two AFS files. Just need to get through BIN, PZZ, SFD, TPL and ADX file types. considering the number of files I think these can lead to sprites, 3d models, props, maps, effects and ui. so I will start with the 111,000 kb file.

Progress update for getting assets. I got to the point where I am looking at file numbers and a total file count of 3,194 from the two AFS files. Just need to get through BIN, PZZ, SFD, TPL and ADX file types. considering the number of files I think these can lead to sprites, 3d models, props, maps, effects and ui. so I will start with the 111,000 kb file.
I got here pretty quickly, but trying to find something that's actually able to read the files as models is becoming a pain. Poser, which seems to be the ideal application couldn't figure it out at all.

Going by the twitter handler of Poser. Pzz is one of theirs. But going by the poser model software its not a valid poser file. I would like to find a way into the files before getting back to tier 2 (we are in tier 4). I just dont know, I think the files are encrypted but I do not know how to check. Poser is a modelling software, which means that the pzz should have files for the borgs, projectiles, maps and props.
Each of the PZZ has 1 or 2 Bin's that is named very similarly to the individual pzz files.
Also this is being discussed on Discord. You join our potential mental breakdown as we run out of ideas on being able to do something with the files.

The pzz file contains somes of data for borgs. In header 0x00 you can see how many files is in the pzz. Other flags start in 0x04 and contains the size of the files in the pzz. Data start at 0x800. I have a discord and a team working on it. I have some python code for the unpack, just wait im posting it on GitHub. As you can see, TPL file compressed in pzz, unpacked, and decompressed !

Maj : dat files on position 004 - 009 in pzz files (plxxxx.pzz) are HSD common dat file, that contains scene data with light, camera and other stuff like .blend data.

Hey guys, I just thought about posting here to find someone to work together on a sequel / hommage to GF, and then I saw your post, with the title having exactly my thoughts! But: is this actually still active? And also, I thought (especially because more easy) to go in a completely different direction: one idea was a isometric turn based tactic game. Similar to FF tactics. So pixel graphics, 2D, and turn based battles. But also a story with the over world. I think this could be cool with collecting borgs. It could also implement a VS mode. The other thing I thought was making a GF related card game. So these are my 2 cents, how far in development are you guys? From my experience 3D is always something to put a lot of ambition into.
