All the hype around Ultimate got me thinking about how much memories I have attached with Smash Bros, since it's probably the most consistent party game series in my life; all the other games come and go, but Smash stays forever XD And so many people know about it, so I feel like it connects people. I know a lot of us have grown up with Smash so it just got me wondering what kind of memories you guys might have attached to it. Or if you didn't grow up with it, you can go with another memory from another game series Most of my favorite memories are casual settings, but one major exception is from one of my school's Smash Club tournaments, when the guy I beat in the first round (who really should have won; he was definitely better but SD'ed his second stock xP) came up to me before my next match and said "I'll be rooting for you!" I lost that match but it was still a nice thing for him to say, especially in a situation where he could've been really salty :3 Not much time with Ultimate yet, but my cousins and I had a big laugh this past weekend when Zelda's absurdly large Final Smash black hole slurped in one of my cousins from three-quarters of the stage away. That thing is a little unfair XD

I remember I was about 13 and I invited a friend to sleep over and play games. We ended up playing Melee for like 10 hours straight, and when I went to sleep that night I ended up playing more Smash in my brain (I specifically remember that I was playing Bowser and spent most of the dream landing his old Side B). When I woke up I asked him if he had dreamt about playing Smash too and he said yeah, it was hilarious. I almost never have dreams about me playing games.
Later in highschool we had a freeday and someone brought a Wii for Brawl. A chick who'd barely touched the game before played Kirby against a friend of mine who was playing Captain Falcon. She ate him, copied him, then landed 3 Falcon Punches in a row on him and won (she didn't do Falcon Punch > Falcon Punch > Falcon Punch, she just landed every one she tried for that match). That was also hilarious.
I still remember the hype period for Brawl with the Dojo updating every day. That was awesome, the only times I've been so invested in a hype cycle like that were for Marvel VS Capcom 3 and Ultimate MVC3. I think THAT'S how hype should be made, consistent tiny updates to keep people interested and invested.

Also, I love that Zelda actually feels good to play for once. She's my ace in the hole against my brother's K Rool, Ike and Ganon get gimped too easily by him once they're offstage, and we didn't have either of the Pit's or most of my other mains at the time.

I tried to lightning bolt a tank but failed and it pushed me out of the arena. Forgot who was controlling it. Was either Steve or Al.
