So I wanted to know if any of you guys are into the Gunpla hobby [Gundam model kits] or collect any kind of robo toys/statues/figures? Or even just figures in general?
When I first found out about Gunpla I just saw them as gotcha borgs because they're palm sized! When I build my first model kit, it was actually a mecha from Muv-Luv called Shiranui, and I held it in my palm when it was completed. All I could think of was when Kou received his G-Red on the night the Gotcha Borgs descended to Earth.
From then on I've been collected mecha/robo figures and model kits and they're just extremely fun and inspiring to look at!

I have a tall cabinet with mecha figures, and they don't even fit anymore. Only a handful are model kits, though. A lot are regular action figures, some of them are cheap little toys. I don't discriminate much when it comes to mechs. I also have some of the more pricey figures. For one, the red and white Shiranui Second from Muv-Luv, by Revoltech.

Revoltech do some good figures! Though I've heard they are quite delicate? And that Shiranui is what my first model kit was. I love that he's red and white, just like Shiranui from Okami :D Have you checked out the Super Robot Chogokin line at all? I only just got one which is of Mazinkaiser, but the thing that's really cool about this line is they use a lot of die cast metal for the figure giving them such a hefty weight compared to gunpla models of the same size XD I don't discriminate when it comes to mechs too, except for transformers 'cause they are just like the Brave Police but not as cool XD Have you seen this guy before? He's on my list of figures to get. He turns into an electric chair!!

Nah, Revoltech does high quality, sturdy action figures. You can pose them pretty much however you want, mess around with them a lot, and they'll stay in one piece easily. They're a little lighter and smaller, but they have good detail and prioritize mobility and customization (they're so malleable, come with dynamic stands, and often an arsenal of accessories). Model kits are what tend to break apart just by trying to pose them, usually, if they're the snap-together kind and you don't take extra steps to build them. Model kits definitely look nicer, but you have to use glue, paint, and all kinds of stuff to make them look their best, and are too fragile to pose much, oftentimes. My collection is probably half Transformers, really. And Transformers are some of my least favorite mechs, and I mean, they're not even mechs. But, the toy lines you can find in stores have a lot of original designs that are really nice and hardly look like the main Transformers. I can't say I've seen that one though, and I don't find it too interesting. It's too 'human-y' like most Transformers, for me. Never seen something that transforms into an electric chair... I'd prefer stuff with nicer uses than that. It's been quite a while since I've collected any figures... last I remember, I was planning on getting the original designed Baselard, and the Arbalest from Full Metal Panic, by Revoltech. On that note, just take a look at how much stuff Revoltech figures can come with, and what they're capable of.

I spend a lot of time on them reinforcing their joints and painting them though I feel like they end up looking as good as expensive pre-made figures but their joints still don't stay together as well as I'd like T.T My girlfriend has a Revoltech Anubis but that just feels so fragile we're both scared to move it but maybe we're being a bit too fearful! XD The quality is certainly fantastic though! But for now I think for now I'll stick with the Chogokin line 'cause that diecast is just too cool :P Also The thing about that transformer dude is that an electric chair is so outlandish and just weird for a transformation I can't help but be drawn to its madness! XD

This is more just about robot figures altogether now. What is your opinion on Combination Robot toys? They have next to no articulation and have plenty of stickers. In essence they are colourful, pretty bricks of plastic. And yet I can't help but be drawn to them. When I was a kid I always wanted the original Megazord combination toy but it was way to expensive! My friend had one and it was just the coolest thing to me. It was 5 toys that could become one big brick! xD Maybe it's the nostalgia of that feeling. Too bad every combining robot set is worth a gazillion pounds! Anyway, what's your view on these guys?

Looks extremely familiar. I may have that one... or maybe it's the one I had when I was much younger. Still, I have a couple that are very similar to that in my collection, so I like them.
