So this anime is happening and hopping. DISCUSS! I'm just really fascinated watching how this show's going to work from a writing standpoint (chucking the "bad guys need to always be bigger" rule out of the window in the conventional sense), and the humor and tons of casual destruction is pretty great I still haven't decided whether I should consider Saitama's dazed-egg face or his YOU'RE FRICKIN DEAD face as his real face Fun fact, Hammerhead (ep. 4) is voiced by Wataru Tagaki, who voiced the Galactic Emperor, Nekobe, and Tetsuya in Japanese Gotcha. I'm pretty proud of myself for recognizing him by his voice

I've slowly been watching this show in chunks. I need to actually stay up to date with the weekly releases... which is weird, since it's the only currently airing show that I'm actually watching.
I like it. There's been a lot of good superhero anime in recent years, but I think I'm more fond of Samurai Flamenco and Gatchaman Crowds. Crowds especially.
To weigh in on what I think of the writing, I've only just reached the episode, but it looks like Saitama is going to have a miserable experience signing up for the hero league, or whatever it's called. I've read that he ends up scoring a C despite his incredible power, because he failed the theory test (testing him on his convictions as a hero.) Which makes sense because as a character, he's bored and disinterested with his 'hobby', the only thing that brought him joy, and since he isn't media savvy, he's getting overshadowed by more popular heroes, even if those popular heroes are as lame as 'bicycle man.'
I'm assuming that the show's going in a direction of developing Saitama towards heroing for the right reasons, as opposed to just doing so for satisfactions sake. He's bored because nothing challenges him any more, but you become a hero to protect people, not for the simple thrill of it, or to be famous. At least, those aren't reasons unto themselves, obviously we need to enjoy what we do, and we deserve recognition for good work, but those shouldn't be the only reasons we work hard, for Saitama, those are the only reasons right now. Basically, he'll become more like Genos, whereas Genos will learn the value of patience and hard work from Saitama. Genos was the one gifted with incredible power after all, whereas Saitama became One Punch Man just by having an insane work out routine. Maybe the series will be about him changing his perspective? He probably won't end up with the hero organisation and its arbitrary metrics for defining his worth as a superhero (and by extension person, mirroring how many feel in regards to their jobs in real life), either, and he and Genos will make names for themselves, by themselves.

Bike man is best hero I absolutely love this show. The premise of a bored, OP superhero is pretty funny. The author also likes to make smart jabs at society, like how recognition and hard-work are independent of each other. The whole story being a satire is great, and the author still manages to make Saitama relatable despite who he is. I like how a lot of the characters have their own personalities, in that they feel human to me. Little things like respect, fear, anger, confusion; all of that comes into play especially with Saitama's interactions with Genos. Plus I can't define Saitama simply no matter how hard I try haha. This is very much a character-driven plot, and I love watching Saitama and Genos grow and move forward

Most of this, then Sonic's reaction to his [less-than-]magical girl transformation was perfect XD
