Well, the only person here that I remember other than myself being interested in this is DE, but...whatever. SO, AGDQ 2015. Awesome Games Done Quick is a 6 day speedrun marathon for the prevent cancer foundation. Watch it here, and the schedule is here.Starting off with Donkey Kong Country; Tropical Freeze. By the way it starts tomorrow, not today.

Oh hey thanks for posting the thread for this, I thought it started on the 6th for some reason. Anyway I'd just like to draw attention to the fact that on the 6th at 21:30 GMT-5* there's a Kaizo race. Yes, that's right, a live and in real-time race of Kaizo Mario World. No savestates or anything, apparently, from what I've heard that dram55 guy actually runs Kaizo savestateless. Pretty sure that'll be crazy. Also the TAS block has a mystery game that's surely going to be interesting, would also recommend that. By the way you can also watch it here. *time subject to change

TAS block is starting! Watch, it's generally one of the best parts of the marathon. Last game, they used Super Mario World with TAS to make the game Snake through absurd glitching...so if that's anything to go by, this is going to be pretty amazing. EDIT: Well MK64 was hilarious. If you missed it, watch it on youtube after the marathon. (spoiler of what happened if you don't want to watch) They went to Choco Mountain and it started on TAS, 4 player. Some players laid down a bunch of bananas, and other players redirected the boulders to fly around in the tunnel, making them INCREDIBLY annoying. After that they all met up at the start line, three of them with triple green shells and multiple with lightning. The three tossed their triples greens more more obstacles, and the ones with lightning then shocked them all. The game paused, and four people came up and then actually raced. The results were magical. EDIT2: So TAS mystery game. So they did SMW again, with the same glich...but they recreated a full Super Mario Bros in the code of Super Mario World. I'd like to point out this isn't hacking, this is actually a glitch programmed into the game, and they programmed a completely different Mario game IN a Mario game. Truly the stuff of legend. EDIT3: TAS Pokemon Red. With TAS, they overrided Pokemon Red, then the Super Gameboy, then the Super Nintendo. The result? Pokemon Red displaying twitch chat. I approve. Blew the old TAS block out of the window. So much yes.

Here's the video of the TAS block.
F-Zero block coming up, that's pretty much by definition going to be insane.

Looks like I'll have to watch that after the marathon. Aw. EDIT: Nope, I still caught most of GX. Awesome, as usual.

4-way SMW race coming up now, followed by the Kaizo race. SMW race appears to be with star road so like 15 minutes to Kaizo.
EDIT: They just did a glitch to get a Lakitu cloud in their item box. That's new.

Watched the SMW run! Yeah, that cloud glitch was pretty intense. So was that falling-block glitch (I'm very new to watching speedruns, so everything is fascinating to me )

So this Kaizo run. Dude beat the first level in under 3 minutes, did a jump he has a MAXIMUM of one frame to do twice in a row... it's insane. Watch it on YouTube if you're not watching it now.
EDIT: HE JUST DID THE SECOND HALF OF THE SECOND-TO-LAST LEVEL ON HIS FIRST TRY.

I told you it's not that amazing in comparison to everything they do. Still pretty amazing though. The difference between the Kaizo run and some other speedrun is there are neither safe strats nor backup strats in Kaizo. All the super-precise tricks are literally the only option, and if you mess any of it up you die. Period. Even Battletoads generally has at least some let. Also here's the video in case anybody missed it.

Don't forget the ninjas.

That doesn't make you a ninja. You're just not talking about it.

Doesn't mean I'm not talking about it. It just makes me a ninja. /samelogic
Even if you can't accept my ninjaness, it doesn't mean I haven't been following this topic from the shadows.

No, Ninjas beat you to what you're about to say before you say it. You were just a lurker. Now you're talking, so even if you want to make the argument of being a ninja by your definition, by merely posting here you have broken this.

What you're talking about is getting ninja'd. Which is just a verb for one of the things a ninja does. They also specialize in espionage, among other things, not just avoiding detection...
Coincidentally ninjas are also pretty good at speedrunning games.
But apparently just saying I'm a ninja is getting nothing but flak, so have this:
One of my all time favorite games, and it also happens to be somewhat based on speedruns, with the sliding/boosting gameplay and stages ranking you solely based on time and keeping time records down to milliseconds. Always great to see speedrns, it's just crazy watching Marina boost-shuffle around these stages like nothing (and occasionally shaking or throwing things). This is also a gold gem run, so they're taking time to do extra objectives in each stage that takes a bit more time but more skill, and also unlock the full ending. They make use of two interesting glitches, mainly a weird upward boost exploit, and sometimes phasing through narrow floors.
Anyway, the end is really something else. I was nearly in tears. At 1:12:50, they start finishing up with some speeches, with the game epilogue playing with its very nice music... And other stuff happens. The game ending almost seems to reflect what's going with the ensuing celebration scene. It's just so beautiful. Watch that if nothing else.

Raiark Steve placed a hand over his face, "I guess this is an example of a joke taken too far... I don't care if this guy or a fried chocobo joins us." I figured you'd like that run since you've said before how much you love Mischief Makers. It was a pretty cool run all in all.
