Not yet. Very soon. A lot of you probably know of Super Smash Flash 2 . I'm going to summarize, anyway. It's a free, fan-made flash game, that replicates the Smash series (mainly Brawl) in a 2D form with sprites, and it does so quite faithfully for a fan-made flash game. Of course, there'd be no point in doing only that. They instead went a route of turning it into a dream roster royale, with a lot of the Smash cast and characters like Sora, Goku, Lloyd, Mega Man, even Naruto and Ichigo, among others. There's also new items and stages, including assist trophies and pokeball appearances. Well, it's a really cool game, and free. And now it's even going to have online play! This month, they said... And they've always been on target for their announcements on new versions so we'll see. The new version's also going to add some more content, and even replays. So sign up for your online account here, and it looks like we'll have a pseudo-new Smash to play around with 'till Smash 4... It's a crime Pit's not in the roster... But no one's made a sprite sheet of him so oh well. Sora or Lloyd may be fine shonen mains. Last... Here's a preview of actual gameplay of the latest upcoming version, not that the above trailer wasn't, but this is without all the fancy camera stuff and a better view of the mechanics of the game.

Ah I remember playing the first version back in middle school. Good times noooo the release has been delayed. I suppose I'll content myself with the demo version XD It'd be cool if they had gotcha characters in this game. Do you think all they'll need is a sprite sheet, along with some popular demand? because I would attempt to make one if they did edit: holy moly version 2 has much more fluid animations than the original. making sprites would take a long time

Yeah, me and shooting my mouth off about them always releasing updates on time... At least it's almost the end of the month now, so we're close to getting a release date as they said. Supposedly there might be 'extra special news' later tomorrow/later. At least the delay was because of online registrations hitting several thousands beyond expected.
If anyone hasn't heard, we'll be getting the new demo soon now (they're called demos but are really full versions), but online will be disabled for a while. Then they'll 'unlock' accounts in waves once they're ready, easing in the population into the game's server. Not too bad, really. There's enough new content and changes to get used to and practice in the new version to get ready for online.
I've been playing occasionally these days, but it gets a bit dull with the pathetic AI. Though I hear level 9 Jigglypuff is a really good competitive opponent...
I play Sora mainly. He's surprisingly similar to Pit. Slightly comparable in appearance, a disjointed hitbox (weapon), same weight class, very aerial based, Up-B is borderline flight (can Jump > Up-B > Jump > Up-B) and it doesn't leave him in the helpless falling state. He has a controllable projectile though short in range, and firaga is like a combination of Pit's shield and haiyayaya. Not having Pit isn't all that bad. Goku's also incredibly fun... And Kirby's great as usual since playing with Nintendo characters is like playing Brawl, but he can copy any of the third party characters which all give him awesome abilities (kamehameha, demon fang, firaga, rasengan...) and anime hair. Also Black Mage/Mega Man/Bomberman. Kirby is awesome as all of these.
Well, as for adding characters, it's not as simple as having sprites. They've mentioned how it takes a really long time to program each character, and it's no surprise really, because think about how every little attack has different damage and properties (including subtle things like priority). They have to animate everything and have hitbox da for each frame. Make sure they're completely free of bugs, and are fairly balanced...
I'm not even sure how they consider a character for the roster, though. There's sprites of Bowser and Luigi and others, but they're still not in. There's sprites of Vegeta and he's always been one of the most demanded characters, but they directly stated he won't be in the game until they do expansion characters (after version 1.0 I guess?).
tl;dr Yes this got delayed but is around the corner now, and I'm surprised there's not more hype for this here. I'm so hyped I accidentally wall of text'd and have been checking the updates every day. Honestly, the game's as good as Brawl and the rest, with a dream roster. With online soon, I'm really getting impatient for this. The gameplay is really well done and faithful, and the only issue I see is the lack of characters like Bowser/Luigi/ Pit/Dedede, but even most the Nintendo Smash veteran roster is there otherwise, with Marth and Zero Suit Samus coming up on the update (with Chibi Robo!)

Well, it's about time. No, not yet, exactly... But it's going to be released by the 27th (and they're holding an official live tourney event on the 27th that you should look forward to). The game's had quite an overhaul, there will be lots of new content (and plenty of refining of old content), online (a bit after release), replays, and a lot of special modes for some casual party game fun. Anyway, check this out.

Well this is a thing. www.twitch.tv/indysmashThe official tournament's going on right now, the game looks pretty competitive and very close to the Smash series. Anyway, the game's out now, with the online mode working as well, though they're activating the online accounts in waves every day, it's only a matter of time.

I think I played an earlier version. Might check it the newest version. Hopefully it doesn't get C&Ded to oblivion.
