Mario Kart 8 is another sequel to the long-running Mario Kart series to be released on May 30th.

Anyone gonna buy this game? I have no initial interest in it to be honest, but if a number of you on GFF are gonna race, I might pick it up.

I am, Al probably will, Riku probably, Claxus (if he ever got a Wii U, maybe.)

Someone told me they were going to have the koopalings as racers and I thought they were pulling my leg. 

Interesting, but I have no Wii U. There aren't that many racing games that have interested me, mostly Adventure Beetle Racing (Nintendo 64), Mario Kart:Double Dash, Diddy Kong racing, and various minigames come to mind, but they never really stick to me like the first two.

This game looks more and more fun for every time I see it. I initially had no interest in it at first, but I think I won't be able to resist its charm.
Just hoping to find people that will play for fun and not being too overly competitive.

Say hello to the most hyped-up person on the planet for MK8. I will be getting it the second my game store opens on Friday (that's 6 AM.) and playing. After I unlock Morton and get all the tracks I'll head online 'till noon, when a few of my buds will come race with me.

So Mario Kart 8 has a feature where you can upload your highlight reels to youtube.
...huh. Didn't know that. Too bad with something like a Time Trial you can't upload the entire thing (it won't let you upload reels longer than a minute), and the quality seemed to go down quite a bit. But hey, when you don't have a capture card it's something, I suppose.

I know the feeling, though I haven't spent much time online almost every race I got in the top 3 (with quite a few firsts.)
(Spent my time unlocking everything but the gold glider and kart in the first day.)

What combo do you usually use, admin?

Just found something.
Heavy Character+Badwagon+Monster Tires+Super Glider.
Highest possible weight, good speed and traction, and the only combo that gives both the lowest acceleration and handling. It's a very challenging combo to use, especially on, say, Rainbow Road. Also it look hilarious when used by one of the light characters.

EDIT: 3-starring every cup doesn't show next to your name anymore.
That sucks; I 3-starred this game for nothing.

The gold kart is my favorite. Before that, I tried new combos constantly.
Dunno if there are gold wheels to go with it, but since there's a gold glider, I'd assume there would be.

Yeah, you just have to beat all the time trial staffghosts. I use the gold set a lot too, but usually it's Shy Guy+Tri-Speeder+Slick+Super Glider, or Iggy+Landship+Cyber Slick+Super Glider.

Do you already have the gold glider?

Yeah, I got the gold wheels shortly after posting that. Haven't got the glider yet, but I'm sure I'm getting close to it.

I doubt you're close to 10,000 coins in one week.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I decided to upload this too. It was the closest race me and my friends had when they came over and raced on release day.

Well, I got the 2800 coin reward on my 2nd day of playing so I'm surprised I haven't gotten it yet. It's only a matter of time now.

I have come to the conclusion that coins earned in online or VS races do not count in unlocking parts.
I know beyond doubt I've gotten 10000 coins since long, but since the mentioned methods don't apply, I'm not sure where the actual counter to get the last glider has stopped. It's back to race in ordinary cups for a while.
