Mind the pony images, but they have grab bags that also do this. Then again, it's not like variants of figures from vending machines/lucky draw/etc has never been done before. But anyway... Lets say you buy some blind grab-bag, and it contains: K. You have a Pinkie Pie now. Now your friend goes and buys a bag of his/her own, and inside is: Now you go back and buy another, but this time it nets you: Same with Gotcha Force. You play a stage, nothing in particular appears. You go back, and suddenly you see a Silver Gatling Tank. you beat the stage; obtain it. Now you have something of it's own unique value that separates it from the rest of your Borgs. But anyway, do any of you guys find this rather amusing, how rare Borgs basically run off the same premise as vending machines? which was already mentioned earlierI mean, Gotcha Force IS, after all, a game about toy robots. So you gotta' love it how it even incorporated a gimmick such as this, just for both the aesthetic and concept behind such marketing ploys. Discuss.

There's atleast 50 other series that do this, but yeah, it's a nice idea. How do you think Shiny pokemon came about?
The difference between Shiny Pokemon, these grab-bag type things, and Rare Borgs...is that Rare Borgs are more than asthetically different, they actually obtain more health. (or less)

Guys, the images of Pinkie Pie are irrelevant. It's just as an example. Rare Borgs are more than asthetically different, they actually obtain more health. (or less) This is also the genius of it. Since if rare borgs weren't anything special, they wouldn't really be of much value. But then suddenly you have a Gold Neo G Red, which, basically normal Neo but cranked up to 11.

Yes, Gotcha Force is essentially a vending machine miniatures game.

I admit though, at times I find the rarity aspect of this game to be frustrating. I find myself becoming more and more hesitant to play with borgs that you don't get through crystals, because what if I happen to get a rare version of one? My Kung-Fu Master is level 8 right now. But if I get lucky and nab a special version I'll use it instead and be starting all over. The actual objective betterness of the rare borgs induces a mild paranoia in me. And then, when I get half of a gold Axe Knight, or half of a silver Slow Valkyrie I immediately decide not to level my regular ones in case I can complete the set. Sometimes, I don't care about any of this. But sometimes I find this run little rarity aspect to be somewhat restricting.

Do what I do then. Don't use any variants besides alts, because they don't look as cool. Detail demolishing nonsense.

It's true. Plus, more often than not, the gold just looks ugly (in my opinion).
