Been watching Saya no Uta, a visual novel that was released not long ago in English but was originally written by Gen Urobuchi of Madoka magica and psycho-pass fame back in 2003 as a japan only title. Yeah, 10 year localisation.
It is really good which is why I'm recomending it but it is also considered to be perhaps one of the most screwed up things ever released in any country in any medium amongst some fans. I obviously haven't expereince everything ever yet but... it's up there, and there is a reason why it is rated 18 plus. Still, episode one of a series of a videos I am about to show should avoid the worst of the sex scenes and censor some of the nudity, and these first few videos only has excessive gore.
I'll post the video in case anyone wants to go in with a blank slate, then I'll post a short little description of what this is about in case anyone wants a reason to subject themselves to it.
I feel inclined to say WARNING. In bold right there. It only gets worse. I don't know how people will react to it I mean I react fine but... yeah it doesn't spare anytime.

Anyway here's a brief description:
Fuminori was in an accident that killed both of his parents and left him hospitalized. His life was saved but the brain surgery that was used left him with a mental disorder which causes the world around him to look horrific (some say Lovecraftian) People look like blobs of rotting flesh, the walls also look like flesh covered in bones, the sky is perpetually black and his other senses also get effected, everything feeling, smelling, tasting, and sounding just like they look like they should. Fuminori wants to commit suicide when he gets out of hospital but he meets a girl named Saya, the only thing in his waking nightmare who looks human, and not only human, but positively shining with young radiance and beauty. He clings to her as his only reason for living as thing get daaaaaaaaaaaaark.
Almost all the bad things you can imagine happening in fiction happen here and for the most part Saya no uta doesn't shy away from it. We get to see lots of things from Fuminori's point of view and its as you might imagine, but honestly, his vision isn't the worst of it. This VN is dark because of the characters, the actions, and the outcomes.
If you stick to the videos than you'll avoid the nudity and sex scenes, but everything else should be there on full display. While I can recommend avoiding the sex scenes to most, for the curious or those who don't care, I can tell you that only 2 of them involve obvious non human entities stuff and that none of them are animated (still shots, described in great detail in text) but that ALL of them, even the ones that look normal, have horrific undertones if you think about it too much, and I don't just mean because Saya looks like she's only about 10 years old. If you can stomach it, I can recommend looking them up because some story points happen during these scenes, and the story can occasionally feel disjointed with some characters seemingly forgotten about if you watch the versions which edit out these scenes.
For all others, just use your imagination.
I can really recommend Sya no uta, but at the same time, it almost feels like admitting to liking the anime equivalent of saw or something... I mean this is really intelligent and not done for its own sake, but regardless it is still rather uncomfortable on a site dedicated to something as happy as gotcha force. Still, I'm biting the bullet and posting this to tell you that for those who aren't scared off, this really deserves your watch, especially if you wanted to see some more stuff behind the guy who wrote Madoka magica, which by the way looks like the magic roundabout compared to this.
Ok, I'm done.
