I decided to head to head to the space station. And so I waited whilst the server loaded, standing in a black limbo, watching the lights of other peoples data as they went by, looking out beyond the confines to see an infestation of viruses kept back only by a strong fire wall, rising out of the ground tall and strong like the intimidating walls of a prison fortress.
I felt the server wash over me however as I arrived, I immediately felt that something was wrong.
I had arrived in the infinite space, standing motionless in the sea of stars. But what was around me wasn't black, it was red, as though the entire universe had only just died, and was still bleeding its lifeblood. The server was crashed, and by all rights, even I shouldn't have been aloud to access the place. One of the God's members up above should have already moderated the place, he should have sent it down to the underworld for the viruses to gnaw on. And that was then I knew something was more than wrong. This was a trap.
I turned around, looking in every direction I could to see that on the horizon, a black mass was forming, erasing the red space. This mass was organized, every component of it human shaped. These were viruses, no longer held back by the firewalls since this server no longer required protecting, and it soon became evident that they were following orders. They formed a circle around the entire server, and I heard a loud, metallic clang as though a crane had just clamped onto space. Which probably wasn't too far from the truth. The space station where I was supposed to be headed began sinking, and it was here I came to the dreaded revelation that, like water circling around the plug of an emptying bath tub, the server was getting drained out. And I was going with it. I tried to move away from it but my body felt as though it was covered in tar, and the viruses were closing in as though they were tightening the noose. Slowly, I relaxed, and resigned to my fate. If my deductions were correct, there would be no reincarnation. No god waiting for me like it usually did. Only death. After all these infinite years, this eternity of solving cases, I now had to face never again being conscious. This wasn't just death. I'd died before. This was what it felt like to be erased. Annihilation.
...
I slowly awoke sometime later, in a place that made me feel light headed, a place that was simultaneously comforting, yet unnerving. Familiar, yet unfamiliar. When my mind was fully ready, I perceived what was around me. I knew immediately where I was, despite the fact that I had never stepped foot in here before.
Up above I saw infinite rows of giant racks, forming the walls of this dimension. Up above past what the eye can see, they were empty, however down below, they were filled with thin, slim squares, black and featureless, aside from occasional flashing images and names, usually incomprehensible strings of binary and other data. Up above, giant hands which appeared to be constructed by viruses placed these squares up on the racks, organizing them. At my level, I seemed to be standing in a pool of green water barely half an inch deep. Light often reflected of its surface, turning it into various different shades of dark discomfort. Broken squares were also laying down here, fallen titans, majestic and tragic, and they bled this water, as well as various structures from temples to sky scrapers to pyramids to churches cathedrals spaceships schools, by lord were there a lot of schools, houses castles and even parts of planets and moons. This was a wasteland of old worlds, up above, those sqaures were recently deleted servers, and the world I was in was the underworld, the resting place of all things before their reincarnation, or, if unlucky enough, their rotting stagnation. Most sentient beings never saw this place, they were usually recycled before they had the chance, but I was likely brought here for a purpose. This place was ruled, after all, by an ex member of god who most of us like to call Lucifer, after the one in the bible of the old reality. We saw it as fitting, but to be honest I don't remember the process that much. I never find myself a part of these meetings all that much and his exile occurred not long after the datascape itself was created, and that might as well have been the beginning of the entire universe for me. The beginning of everything is difficult to remember, even if you were there. Probably. The organized nature of my capture suggests that this was his doing. If his motive was straight up revenge then... well, that's straight up boring but also nonsensical, as he would have made his move eons ago if this were that easy.
Continuing to think I eventually found myself drawn to the sound of murmuring voices, coming from a dimly lit area inside a fallen skyscraper.
"Ahh. Inoue. Nice of you to finally join us."
I turned the corner to see 7 people gathered inside, around a small campfire. It took me a moment to recognize them all.
Ignoring whoever had spoken to me, I immediately began questioning them.
"What happened to God's server. Why are we here." I said as I began searching through some alternate pathways. However my eye lacked information, and I couldn't go any further back then my arrival in the underworld. And there was nothing of use for miles around.
"Who is this guy?" Asked one with a weak looking frame.
"That's right your new. Perhaps we should all get reacquainted." Said another.
I hadn't been paying attention, but one stood up and began introducing himself.
"Hellllooooo fellow members of God. I am Charisma, I help make sure that no one rebels against our organization by making us seem so damn likable! A king is only as strong as his loyal subjects, right? You can call me Carim." The man was smartly dressed in a white suit and blue tie, but his top button was undone showing a collar bone, and his hair was blonde and medium length and he was just generally likable. I usually hate his type but... demeanor really means a lot.
Next, a girl stood up.
"I am spirit! Without motivation, God and no one else could do anything! I do what I want because there are no boundaries, I make the world go round! You can call me Rain!" She yelled, looking very enthusiastic. Her attitude seemed almost childish, but she was one of the tallest in the group and demanded presence. Her face was about as rounded and young as you might expect from someone with her attitude, with large, brown eyes, and she wore a white skirt with knee length stockings and a dark blue top, and long, blue hair.
Next, the tallest and bulkiest man got up.
"I am power. A god is nothing without the power to make and unmake reality. I used to moderate the servers, but not anymore... you can call me Deus." He said with a deep, and naturally loud and imposing voice. He wore loose fitting black trousers, no top which revealed huge, off putting muscles, and a long red cape. His hair was long and red, and his eyes were yellow. I wanted to tell him to put more clothes on.
A woman stood up next, and introduced herself delicately.
"I am Virtue. I am simply delighted to be here, keeping everyone's spirits up, and righteous. I need no name, so you may continue calling me Virtue." She spoke slowly and carefully, pronouncing each word with a grace that made me shiver with the warm feelings it sent through me. She looked delicate, like a gust of wind might snap her. She wore a long dress which was a few more tassels and decorations away from looking like a full on bridal gown, and her long white hair and calming blue eyes made her look like a princess.
Next stood up a man who, before even opened his mouth, I found absolutely repulsive for no reason.
"I am Sin. I am a wretched creature who does not deserve to exist. The world would be a better place without me. Really. I exist within God because without an understanding of Sin, no objective being can truly judge sin. When counteracted by miss perfect, perfect equilibrium is found. Thus, I must sit in the corner of its heart, waiting to be useful... *sigh* I do not deserve a name, so call me whatever you want. If you want to be super nice to me, you may call me sin as opposed to scum bag, crap bucket, leech, worm, fool, waste..." he continued rattling off names. He wore a long grey coat that was in rags, a black shirt and black trousers, as well as a red tie, all of his clothing covered in dust. He looked anorexic, his hair was black and covered in grease and grime that caused it to stick together in clumps, and his eyes were grey and dead. For someone who should be capable of pride, he was the most self loathing, most miserable piece of trash that I had ever had the misfortune to lay my eyes upon.
Next another girl stood up. Her eyes were closed though she did not appear to have trouble moving around.
"I am knowledge. A God must know everything to judge everything fairly. I must thank you for being my eyes, Enforcer. Now, you may refer to me as Minerva." She said, directing her vision at me. Enforcer? Was that my official rank? It made sense but I wish they would call me detective. Minerva had cream coloured, short hair and she kept her eyes closed at all times, and wore a black dress.
Lastly, another man stood up. He looked incredibly confident.
"I am immortality. A God may not die, must not reincarnate, he must stay constant in a world of inconstant events. Similarly, I cannot die. The rest of you reincarnate upon death, as you were. But I will never face death. It is a minor pleasure, and as such I consider myself leader of God second only to the enigmatic master himself, our minds combined surpassing all You may call me Adam, for I was the first sentient creature to grace the datascape. Now then, there is only one left."
They all looked at me. And I looked at Adam, a blank, white, humanoid shape with no clothes or features. He looked identical to the black silhouettes that were viruses, but he was white.
"... Well that was pointless, we already know each other." I responded.
"Sorry... I only recently joined... and I haven't seen you around so..." Sin explained, standing in the corner, shrinking.
"Your incompetence is excused, maggot. Well to complete formalities, I am the detective, Akira Inoue. You can thank me for doing all of the actual work, for even God in his mightiness must get his hands dirty to keep the world running smoothly." I said, pulling my black hat over my eyes.
"Your the what now?" Asked Rain, referring to my title.
"I'm sorry little miss smarty pants, I am the Enforcer. But my work is that of a detective. It would be tragic if I outright killed any sinning criminal whenever I wanted. Thus, I must be smart, and catch them out." I responded, looking at Sin and grinning. I specifically used the word 'sinning' in an attempt to scare Sin. It seemed to work, as he began shaking.
We all went quiet, remaining in silence for a little while. I began to feel hunger. I had never felt hunger before, since it was a pointless biological response for someone like me. I only needed basic responses like pain and the other senses, stuff anyone would need for a case. Needing to eat food or empty my bowels would simply slow me down. But it seemed now, my coding had been reworked in order to make me more human than ever. I was still surprised that my eye still worked though, however its power appeared to have weakened. It seemed that only the most important pathways were clear to me. Furthermore, I was now worried, since Minerva appeared to have been cut off from the database, which was likely the reason why my eye was weakened, since now there was less data around me which could be used to predict certain outcomes.
This free time was gnawing at my easily bored soul. I decided that I should talk to someone.

Option 1: Charisma (Carim)
Option 2: Spirit (Rain)
Option 3: Power (Deus)
Option 4: Virtue
