Just gonna write about whatever here.
The King's Hindsight
The lone king, clothed in the red of his foes, looked upon the remains of his kingdom. Battle-torn and turned to dust, consumed by the void of death, he sees nothing but this void. Destroyed by the great evil that struck, ignoring the advice of his daughter...his deceased daughter, he lays his head down in fatique. He groans with his weakened spirit, thinking to himself...why? What have I done to deserve this?
It was a peaceful day in this land. The grass was green, the birds cheerful, and the kingdom happy. The king received advice from a man cloaked in mystery, a man the king trusted well. His advice? To start an attack on his weakened rivals, to overtake their land. The king complied, taking this opportunity. His daughter, however, had a vision. A vision of despair, and destruction of the home she adored. She pleaded to the king to not leave themselves defenseless, sending their forces to overtake what they do not need. The arrogant king, however, did not accept his daughter's pleas, and sent her away. The invasion began. The king's soldiers commanded an onslaught on the weakened areas, slaughtering by the thousands...however, in the kingdom's defenseless state, the man cloaked in shadow, the king's advisor, stole the family's most prized posession, with the ability to give its weilder incredible power. The man used this to take on the king and his kingdom. He captured the king's daughter, and gave him a choice; give me your kingdom, or your daughter dies. The king, devastated at the man's betrayal, did not comply. No price was too great ti give away his power, his greed for power. And thus, his daughter was murdered. After, the man laid seige to the kingdom, using his incredible power to destroy all in his path. The king realized his power was no longer existant, and decided to flee. The man cloaked in shadow consumed all of the land, and began to destroy all...in a final plea, the king, and all who remained, prayed to the gods. Their prayers were answered, but at a price. The man cloaked in shadow was sealed in what was an all consuming void...however, to consume all would acheive the man's goal of destruction, so the void spared a select few, to carry on and continue the world, and rebuild the land...
The king had been a fool, and he knew it. For nonexistant power, he had sacrificed his daughter, and his subjects. When the void had consumed and vanished, it spewed out the prized posession of pure power that the king had valued so much, as if out of spite. In his final act, the king hid this sacred posession where none would find it. The world would be revived, but it would take time...and the world would never forget the disaster caused by the man of shadow, and the foolish king who led all to this disaster...
