So whatcha call these notes, and do they mean the same whichever instrument you play? I know the left one is called a G-clef, but I have forgotten what it was used for/represented/whatever.

The notes don't have a pitch, since they're not on any lines. Those only show the duration of the note. Green- Quarter note Yellow- Eigth note Pink- Sixteenth note Blue- Treble (G) Clef
Clefs serve as a sort of reference point, by which the other notes revolve around. i.e. Even if two notes are in the same position, they have different pitches if they have different clefs.

Trying to learn notes is making my head and eyes spin. I would love to hear the Sinistral theme ( from Lufia 2) on violin. I don't think anyone's ever done that before.

I'll try to work on that, but I don't know when I'm going to be done.
EDIT: I got most of the music down. All that's left to do is to record it, but all I've got is a digital camera.

Sorry, not quite sure what you're trying to say. on the piano there are a whole ton of keys, but not enough lines to fit them all. how do you know which key to hit? the low pitched ones or the high pitched ones?

I'm procrastinating I'm working on it. The problem is that digital cameras get really bad quality sound so I have to record sound with a mic.
