How do you read them, and what's the basic way to learn/memorize what each note does/mean?
I've always wondered how musicians learn to read these things.

Augh Firefox crashed in the middle of my writing this. Extremely summarized version of my previous post: I learned a couple of notes and where on the violin they corresponded, then kept learning more until it covered the range of: not reallyThe other stuff like dynamics and those other little signs that aren't notes would be like learning the punctuation in a language. Excuse the (maybe?) bad grammar. I was in a rush to post before Firefox crashed again.

^ That image is highly confusing. I guess I could never learn to read notes. I never understand what people mean with different "tones" or the like, nor how B-flat and these things are understood. It's really admirable to see people like you and thadudette being able to master a musical instrument and its read notes.

Firefox keeps crashing, so here's the abridged Abridged Abridged Version. That image in my last post was just me playing around. Here's a more accurate version. Red corresponds with red. Like anything else, it's learned gradually. I wouldn't expect you to understand all this just by reading abridged posts on a forum. Whatever. I'll just shut up now and take your praise. ;D

i don't know about you, but I think that that's just wierd... Not really. It turns purple so if you undo in a giant pile of notes, you can see exactly what you're about to undo. We are talking about the same thing, right?

Okay good. I was a bit worried for a second there. Random purple notes aren't what I would call weird, no pun intended.

Drums and violins are great instrument. Plural? If you're talking about a demo using sheet music, I can't provide that since 1. Drums don't use that kind of music and 2. Bass guitar can, but I don't use them Now that I think of it though, my favorite song to drum to *coughrebirthingcough* DOES have a violin part in it

Learned intro in a couple of minutes.

Yeah, it sounds like it's just a repeat of two or something measures.

When I was a lad, I wanted to play either a guitar or drums myself, but obviously it never happened.
Too bad. If I did, we could start an online band and publish our music on the Tube and then be discovered that way and get famous! *turns megalomaniac*

Well, Admin, the first step to learning an instrument is having one, so what have you got?

Make sure you only make sounds when you're strumming and change notes only when you move your fingers.
