(Gonna be another short one, have to get to bed. I'll be writing in short chunks quite often.)
Ven woke up the next morning and got into his uniform. It was tight fitting, but incredibly comfortable, not only did it suit him, but he also felt safe and valued in a knights uniform. However, he still had no armor like Largo. He was merely a knight in training. He noticed with amusement that there was a small hole in his right wrist for the Animus Gem to poke through, as clothes covered up the bracelet. Nice touch.
He headed through the dusty corridors, they were grandly decorated in shades of red and blue however they were quite old. Well maintained, but old, the wood looked decayed and the tapestries showed signs tell tale signs of stitches used to repair them.
They soon met some other students, including Raiark. He walked over to them and smiled in mocking disbelief at Ven.
"So your finally awake, huh? Nice to know I didn't fight someone too weak." He said, walking next to him.
Ven found himself unable to reply. He had been pathetic.
"Yeah, well Ven will win next time. Right Ven?" Said Ash, smacking him on the back. Ven stepped forward to gain footing, then began rubbing his back as he resumed his previous pace.
"Yeah. Thats the plan." He said unconvincingly.
"Well, I look forward to it. It was your first time, right? Showed more spine then I did my first time, anyway." Said Raiark, looking upwards as if he'd just seen an incredibly interesting cobweb.
They soon walked through some large doors and found themselves in a large, empty room. Everyone sat down on a carpted floor, cross-legged. Ven followed suit, a tad peeved by the lack of chairs.
"All right, time for the morning test. You can eat breakfast if you pass." Said a woman, walking in through the door. She noticed Ven.
"Ahh Sir Nobbody. Nice of you to finally join us." She said, walking over and grabbing Ven by the arm, pulling him up. She dragged him to the front of the class.
"We have a new knave today, just woke up yesterday. This is actually Sir Leyfield, you can call him Ven." She said, then let go of him.
Ven took a look at her. She was wearing flowing, black robes and had long, black hair, and blueish eyes. Her features weren't soft, and she had a firm stare. She looked older than she probably was, and she intimidated Ven.
"Lady Karis. I'm gonna make your life hell until you become an actual knight. Well then, I hope your friends filled you in, because it's time for some quick questions." She said, then pushed Ven back towards where he was sitting.
Karis asked various questions on what Ash and Lilly had told him. Nevertheless, he got the lowest score in the class.
"Well Ven, looks like you wont be eating today." She said, dismissing the class.
Ven scowled. He'd got 90% and failed on the parts discussing Akis' past. He responded with skepticism to the notion of Akis becoming one with magic, and the possibility of him being a real person.
Karis smirked as the other students left through the door.
"Quite the little skeptic we have here. Well whatever, lets see what you can do with the sword. Attack me." She said, handing a heavy wooden training sword over to Ven. Seemed the classroom doubled as a training area of sorts, explained the lack of chairs at least. Ven picked it up and prepared to attack.
Meanwhile, Ash sat with Raiark and Lilly at a long wooden table, on which most of the academy knights were eating. Various meets, eggs, breads and vegetables dotted the wooden surface and everyone picked up what they pleased and devoured it over loud conversation.
Raiark spoke up after the three had been in silence.
"I wasn't expecting to see Ven again. I'm glad he did join though." He vocalized as he chewed, head slightly askew.
"Didn't doubt him for a moment. He's going to be a greater knight than me someday, I just yell a whole lot." Responded Ash, taking a large gulp of water.
"Yeah, and you get beat up." Said Lilly, she tried to mask her concern with humor.
"I'm here, right? Thats why pain wont stop me." Said Ash, determination in his eyes.
Ven walked in with a slight limp, and squeezed in next to Raiark.
"So what did Karis want?" Asked Ash.
"Well first." Responded Ven with a strained voice. "I remember attacking the air, feeling a pain in my spine and learning the layout of the floor very well while I tried to get up." He explained, rubbing his back.
"You got beaten up." Mused Raiark.
"Of course I was beaten up! Jeez, less a training session and more torture." Ven snapped, taking a slice of bread.
Ven barely had time to eat before breakfast time was over.
Returning to Miss Karis' classroom, she expanded dully what had been taught for the past few days.
"There are a number of islands around the world most of which are uninhabited. There are just a few noteworthy land masses in our world, Terrasa, all of which are countries. First there is Aetheria, where we live. It's the most powerful country in the world, largely in part to the influence of Akis. Much of it is empty save for the capitol city, also known as the holy city of Akis, where we are. There are various settlements that live mostly in isolation here, as well as the trading port town Davern, the second largest city. Next is the land of the Scieth over to the west of the world, Malus. It has a wet climate over there, dark clouds always providing rain over deadly mountain areas and black rock. However the monstrous Sceith themselves find refuge there, they've been around as long as humans have, they say. Over to the north East of us is Techtonia, it's a desert like area prone to many earthquakes. The human people there are not under the influence of Akis, instead focusing on the technicalities of the world, ignoring magic where possible. They live quite differently, and have to react quickly. They also spread themselves to small land masses nearby in hopes of escaping their continent. All right, time to move onto the consequences of breaking Akis' rules." Lady Karis continued.
Ven was frowning. He'd been wondering about this.
To the north of Aetheria lies a large island surrounded by smaller, militaristic settlements. We call them 'The dark isles.' the largest island is an extinct volcano called 'the infimum'. Akis has a strong influence here, as it was where he became one with magic, Terrasa as a whole. Akis can use his influence there to create magic barriers, thus it serves as an ideal prison complex. Furthermore, Akis is able to identify anyone who breaks his rules. As such, wrongdoers will be taken there and left in the nfirum indefinitely, according to the will of Akis. Anything that happens in the infirum is left as a strict secret to everyone except Akis, Lord Damien, and of course anyone who is lowered into it's depths. The residence of the dark isles do not know either, and do not set foot inside the infrium. That is all the theory for today class, be sure you keep some notes as there will be a test. This is the basic stuff after all, as many of you come from backgrounds where you will not know this. Stilll seems bloody pointless... now then, time for practical. Don't mind us Ven, I'm sure you'll learn how to fight someday then you can join in." She mused, and the class snickered before lining up.
Ven lined up too, picking up a wooden sword like everyone else. He gripped his sword tight. He now had the knowledge he wanted to know, so all that was left was how to be a knight.
