Izanami aka my new main playable.EDIT: According to some early translations of the article, she has a stance switching drive. She also can't jump, she floats apparently.

So with more information, it looks like her stance is nothing like Kagura's, and has more in common with Izayoi's mode switch.
She can press D to change stances, and in this stance she can't block, but she can use a special to put up a barrier. Her other stance will also let her fire projectile attacks in different directions using different D directional inputs, which reminds me of how Relius' command inputs.
She can jump, but she can't double jump. Instead, the double jump is replaced with a float where she can still use all of her ground normals and specials, and can even dash. She just can't jump any higher than that until she decides (not sure if it has a limited duration or not) to return to the ground.

Why would you want her to be so similar to Kagura? That seems pretty short-sighted. I'm actually pretty excited. Sounds like her playstyle will be able to cover for a lot of my weaknesses, such as my horrible air combat, my difficulties blocking, (as in, I'll have an excuse or a failsafe) and my troubles learning new button inputs.

It's not like she's a charge character and has massive normals. Even with that system she'd be very different.

Well that's fine with me, I hate charge characters, and they're in a lot of fighting games. And again, what you're describing is a character who is already very similar to Kagura. I haven't come across a character with her mechanics, though.

If you choose to focus on just that one aspect of her playstyle, and also ignore the fact that Peach cannot use regular ground attacks in the air, than sure. She's literally Peach. You're being very contrary for no reason today. If you've had a bad day, I'm here to talk.

Basically, both gain a more dynamic ground game due to having a float mechanic that lets them seamlessly use lagless moves from the air (specifically talking about Melee Peach here.)

We'll see how it actually plays out in practice. I was just parroting a bunch of hastily translated notes from a famitsu article anyway. Regardless, that does sound exciting to me, and I'm interested to see how her projectile/drive/guard game will function as well. Nine is definitely flashy, but Izanami actually has me the most legitimately excited out of all the currently revealed newcomers.

I'm still looking forward to Naoto. Everything about him clicks with me. His Overdrive is even Indigo mode. Bang will always be one of my favorite characters of all time, but it's a little weird, since even though I like him that much, I feel more suited playing other characters, and not just because of playstyle.

He has some really cool combos.I may actually take some time to learn Naoto as he seems like such a fundamental character. Hibiki and Izanami interest me more though. I theoretically like the look of Nine more than Naoto, too, but I think I'd have a better time learning Naoto than her. Can't really say for sure until I get my hands on them.

Haven't been this hyped since Relius.
Her distortion stops time. Yes please.

So Izanami is out now and there's some videos on her. She looks really awesome, and if you search around you can find her awesome looking Astral along with her unique Relius/Amane astrals.
Anyway, this video shows off how amazing her ribcage guard is.
She's looking great, I wonder who else they could possibly add next besides Jubei.

His hitbox would be too small, apparently. I think they're just saving him because the fan demand will be high. ie, an incentive to buy the console version. Kokonoe took too long to be playable, too. She was a fan favourite who was not only console exclusive, but DLC initially, too.
For act 3, I'm actually predicting Ragna as a minor version of the Black Beast to be playable. He's the only member of the core cast to not have an alternate form (unless you count Naoto) and they've been pointing towards it since Calamity Trigger.
