So yeah I posted that help thread recently and I gots to thinking. I got a setting and my aim is to create something with awesome characters, more importantly something like a character driven plot which could potentially go on forever however wont, obviously. Franchise material. I'm sick of not being able to follow through on ideas and stuff, I have themes in my head that I've been repeating recently, or, planning to repeat but whatever, enough chit chat you guys don't care about my mental processes all that much, you probably don't even care about me producing a story, you just want to quiet me down so I'll stop being such a drag. Or whatever you think, doesn't matter. So I have basically a fantasy setting in mind, something military themed in a fire emblem fashion more than anything else like a grand adventure, not necessarily anything political involving huge nations. Actually, yeah maybe political stuff with huge nations may not be a bad idea. Probably no mythical creatures but perhaps some magic and weird technology. Maybe a bit of medieval with a spin, I'm thinking maybe a prophecy or two thrown about, I already have plans for maybe someone with a 'chosen one' status. Anyway, I have no characters set although I will add my own. I think I've got three main characters, but it's tough to say. I also don't have a title. Anyway in true RP fashion I'm going to make a sign up sheet to fill in. Also, perhaps some roles. I cant guarantee that I'll place them in the roles you want them to be placed in or even if they'll be major characters, but I'll get them in. Elements from that character may be placed into one of the characters I have already made and I will aknowledge that. I'll aknowledge all your contributions, however remeber that unlike an RP, in essence this wont be a shared narative. It will still fundamentally be my own story. All here we have roles to fill in. I already have a couple, but feel free to also post suggestions for characters other than the character you make. Also, I should probably mention, don't try to place them in the context of the world. I don't have a world yet. I'm going for an approach that builds the world around the characters here. Protagonist: Alberenza Friend: Alberenza A female friend: Alberenza Villain: Alberenza Mentor type person: Villain's minion: 'King' like character: God-like all knowing entity: Maternal figure: Paternal figure: Little sister/brother burden: Bully/bad guy/undeserving good guy who readers hate: Comic relief: M.C. MastaAustin Person rejected by society and acts coldly: Unstoppable badass: etc So far, three roles, filled by me. Those other roles I posted are not meant to be rules, or stuff I need, simply suggestions, this is a flexible project right now. Finally, sign ups. Again guidelines, not things that you must fill in or I decapitate you: Name: Age: Gender: Sexuality: Appearance: Backstory (General, no context yet): Personality: Character goals: Character positives/skills: Character negatives/flaws/incapabilitys: Guidelines for development: Title for character to be placed above: Other notes: These can be changed overtime and will absolutely not represent the final character. They will be changed significantly when I finally establish context. Phew, thanks anyone who read that, thanks even more to people who actually contribute.

Theres gonna be peeps that aren't straight, you'd be suprised at the number of people that are LGBTQ.

Sounds very Tears to Tiara-ish. So is it like, fantasy-medieval, as in airships included and stuff? I know you mentioned Fire Emblem which doesn't include airships, but you also mentioned weird technology.
Maybe something like Break Blade? It's a 6 OVA anime, set in a medieval world. The catch is, humans have developed and can use magic (which is, controlling "quartz"), which they use to create light, control machinery, and other aspects of life. Basically it's its own technology. The actual anime is about badawesome medieval giant robots but that's not the point here
So like, you're going to come up with your own world's technology like above, maybe steam-power, or fantasy technology like airships? Or still deciding?
I'm sure that's something you would just specify on your sign-up's personality.

Haha sorry Brutus. I'll remedy that immedately. Sexuality is something rather alien to me, and rarely something I think about. My main concern on sexuality is that I may fall into the trap of letting sexuality define a character. It can certainly be a part of the character and reinforce a point... but yeah, tricky subject. I'm not entirely sure that all the societal pressures that one may associate with a character of a different sexual orientation (if not they may as well be straight for all it matters to the story, if sex isn't something that really applies to them) would be applicable to the overall theme, but whose to say, I'll throw it in there.
Anyway Claxus... I'm not sure what to do with technology. I was thinking something more tales-ish but I'm not thinking about the way they use magic or mana in those games. Something again, more fire emblem-ish where magic is simply a tool no different to a sword or whatnot for every day use, perhaps studied.

Sexuality isn't really a personality thing, it's like saying being straight is part of their personality. Like me, I am gay but its not all I am; Im a small bit of a geek and not camp at all (can't stand camp), im generally a positive person but tend to be crude and blunt with people (sometimes even cruel). Also a good example would be Steven Stills from Scott Pilgrim. In the books it's shown that he's gay, but it doesn't make it part of his personality; just what he finds attractive.

Well, like Al, I just don't see the point of having to mention it, unless you want it to really be part of the character, which would sort of end up as personality... It depends on how you see it, but, it's up in the sign-up now, so happy end.
And Al, I think I'll wait a bit while you think up on the setting more, 'cause you can make different characters depending on the world they're in. Like in Break Blade, the main character is actually one of the rare outcasts who can't use magic, which is a pretty big part of his character.

Yeah sure. I'll wait for some more characters to pop up, so take all the time you need Claxus. Then again, remember that the character can be heavily changed so it may be worth just putting an idea out there for me, it may be a huge help.
Brutus, a character with diverse sexuality is fine but unless it's integral to their character I don't see it adding up to much, thats all I'm saying. It can reinforce something different, but yeah. Maybe a feeling of someone quite firm in himself, not needing to act camp or whatever to prove his point and seek attention or whatever. Anyway I'll leave the discussion there so thats my warning in essence.

Name: Largo Trenton Age: 20 Gender: Male Sexuality: Straight
Appearance: Largo is a tall lanky man with solid muscles, though since he is tall, skinny, and lanky he doesn’t look all that buff. He has slicked back black hair and a goatee. His face is a rather plain one besides that. He likes to wear white shirts and is usually seen in a white shirt and any kind of pants he can find that would match.
Backstory (General, no context yet): Just an average guy who wants to make a change to his life and live it to the fullest by becoming a warrior. Largo hated his boring life and wanted a change so drastically that he would risk his life for one.
Personality: Largo is generally a nice person to people he knows, and is also very giving and will attempt to help people who ask him for help. He has a hot head, but he isn’t violent when he’s mad he just tends to yell a lot. He enjoys having friends and being around people he is close too. He tends to become attached to people very easily. He hates it when his white shirts get stained. Largo is also very slow when it comes to understanding things, often getting it a minute or two after most people already understand. Largo is also highly unprofessional and is always himself around no matter who it is. He is aggressive when it comes to being the dominate person in anything that he is in and hates being lorded over by others. Largo is also a jokester and tends to try and be funny whenever he can, however during inappropriate situations he knows when to stay quiet.
Character goals: To live his life with a BANG and become a warrior with a life of constant excitement. He does know the risks of fighting and is willing to die just to change his life.
Character positives/skills: Largo is nice and very charitable, He has long arms and with that good reach, He can get along with a lot of people.
Character negatives/flaws/incapabilitys: Largo is scared of the color purple because of a traumatic experience he had when a white shirt he owned was dyed purple, Has a tough time getting along with people who act professional, tends to crack under pressure.
Guidelines for development: Do whatever you want Title for character to be placed above: Comic Relief? Other notes: Do whatever you want with him; just don’t make him all comedy and no substance

Well, another question... What's the character style like? Realistic, or fantasy, as in colored hair, fancy weapons, crazy coats... I think I'll throw out an idea character at least, before you come up with the actual setting.

^ Anything, really. They'll be a military theme but dont let that stop you from being imaginative. Just no sci-fi. Should probably mention that anyone can make multiple characters if they want, although they may want to wait until I actually have some more things down.

Name: Raiark Acemu Age: 19 Gender: Male Sexuality: Straight Appearance: i.imgur.com/c7YtC.png (Unfortunately I didn't draw all of this... I edited a base from TinierMe because I can't draw from scratch >_>) Styled black hair, a white coat with a long-sleeved red undershirt, etc... He carries his weapon "Eleison," a medium-sized but heavy-metaled blade with a diagonal tip, adorned with golden handles and a spiked hilt. His fighting stance is facing the opponent turned slightly sideways, holding Eleison in front with one hand, the tip of the sword resting on the ground. Backstory: Well, I can't really come up with anything, since I don't really know the story... But for a vague start, Raiark is obsessed with power. Not necessarily in an evil way, but perhaps something in his past drove him to take up swordsmanship and try to become powerful. He practices a refined/elegant fighting style, yet bold, using the power and heaviness of Eleison. Personality: Honestly... I'm split up. I'll let you choose from two extremes: He can be either be a charismatic, young veteran fighter, like the overly confident guy that feels like he can take on anything (and generally can back up his talk), and is sarcastic/funny and lightens up the mood. Perhaps helping the main cast every now and then (or always). Maybe he could be an enemy initially seeking his goals. Or... He can be the 'person rejected by society and acts coldly.' Still the same character, just the opposite. Hardly talking, and settling everything with his sword. Still not necessarily a bad guy, but I'll let you decide if he's good or evil, initially an enemy, whatever. Character goals: "I need more power... Might controls everything. And without strength, you cannot protect anything. Let alone yourself." A good guy who wants power to protect everything, or destroy a great enemy... Or corrupt with a lust for power with good intentions, but ultimately ends up a villain due to being blinded by his goals. Character positives/skills: Powerful and skilled fighting style. Typically very rational and logical. [Very leader-like if you make him go the veteran route] Character negatives/flaws/incapabilitys: His thirst for power will make him become one-track-minded when his goals are on the line, and is ometimes irrationally confident. Nervous wreck around any girl he may have interest in. [Anti-social if you go that route] Guidelines for development: Raiark would probably slowly begin to realize that power, and his goals, aren't so important as to lose sight of everything around him. If you go the anti-social route, he would also develop to become much more social. Title for character to be placed above: Veteran, societal reject... I realize it's quite a choice, but I'm sure you'll know what's best for the story. Other notes: Raiark likes milk and strawberries and really hates large bugs. "Use power for the right things. At least for the things that you believe in."

Going to write a new chapter tomorrow.
I'm also getting rid of the elemental nations rubbish. And the prophetic books, although I still plan on prophecies being a part of the story.
Largo will probably be introduced next chapter and Raiark the chapter after that.

Hope this is okay.
Name: David Nitro (Everyone calls him Nitro) Age: 26 Gender: Male Sexuality: Straight
Appearance: Nitro is a borderline giant standing at seven feet tall. Not only is he tall, but is built for destruction having a very strong body as well. Of course since his body isn’t skinny, but big and tall it is harder to see his muscles though make no mistake they are there. While he isn’t fat he is stocky and his body is quite a large size anyway along with his muscles adding on with his weight and body size. He is commonly seen shirtless or wearing a tank top along with any simple pants he can find. However in combat he only wears a light armor usually without arm guards or sleeves so he can move around. His armor consists of a leather tank top, and light steel leggings. He has a smiley face painted on his leather chest piece. His face is very ruff, with dull dim eyes and five’s’clock shadow. However he always has a large grin to him. Nitro also has short black hair and a beard that turns orange in the middle. His arms and fists are larger then usual.
Backstory (General, no context yet): Nitro was born quite small, but quickly shot up and became the village freak. Though not a freak in a bad way, but a giant that helped everyone else do things normal people couldn’t. When he hit 18 he was at his full seven foot tall size and was helping out people doing hard labor and sometimes favors just because it was easier for him to do it. His hard labor is where most of his current muscles come from. He loved his life however he wanted to use his size for something more then just helping with farms and construction so he set out to become a knight/warrior so he could use his size to fight for what is right.
Personality: Nitro is excessively blunt with everything he says. He doesn’t pull punches on anyone and that’s sometimes what people like about him. He treats everyone the same and doesn’t care who they are, he will say what he thinks and stick by it. He strongly believes in justice and fighting for a right cause, but has yet to fully realize his passion for it. Nitro though blunt is also a very nice guy, however he is not conventionally nice. If you cannot finish your work he will say that you stink at it and then finish it for you, showing you along the way how to do it better and more efficiently. If he beats you in a fight and you are frustrated about it, he will call you weak and then teach you how to fight better. He is insulting and nice at the same time, he seems mean, but he is only really doing it to be nice and help others. On the inside Nitro cares deeply for other soldiers and is deeply saddened when he sees soldiers die on the battle field. Which is why in the first place he dedicated using his big size to help others in a more influential way, he wanted to stop the fighting. Nitro is blunt and nice at the same time, however when it comes to his size he will do anything he can to help if it is easier for his tall stature to do it. He will always want to help people who need his size to complete tasks. Nitro does not use a weapon in combat instead opting to put metal gloves with padding in them over his fists to protect them while he punches. Nitro fights very offensively often putting such immense pressure on his opponent using his fast and hard jabs and his strong right arm for powerful blows. He also enjoys grappleing and putting enemys in holds like in wrestleing. He will often challenge or take part in wrestleing tornaments or matches for sport and training. Nitro likes to be on the ground, he also likes to get a sense of his feet on the ground. He hates being detached from the ground and often sleeps on the floor and opts to walk rather then take transportaion.
Character goals: Nitro wants to use his large size and demeanor to help people in a big way, and what better way then to become a soldier and fight for what’s right. Though some people think he is mean due to his blunt personality on the inside he just wants to use his natural born size to help others.
Character positives/skills: Nitro is super strong and very tough he can take quite a few hits, his arms are gigantic and his punches can sometimes out reach a sword, he is very helpful to others even if he does it in a weird way.
Character negatives/flaws/incapabilitys: Those who do not know him may think he is mean and a jerk, he refuses to use weapons in a fight other then some metal around his fists to protect them, he likes to be put on the front lines so he can take hits for others, it is hard to understand his true feelings unless you know him.
Guidelines for development: Nitro is a very large and ruff man who wants nothing more then to use his natural born gifts to help people. Really he just wants to fight for what’s right using his body the one that he was given. He doesn’t want to waste the amazing gift on something worthless. If anything Nitro’s goal is to live and die for the right cause, and that cause is what he thinks is right, to spend his life helping people all around the world using his large size. Even if it means having to fight in a war against evil. However if Nitro thinks he is on the wrong side and what he is doing is not helping people, he will go off on his own and become a freelancer who helps people alone. Basically a vigilantly.
Title for character to be placed above: -Mentor type person: Because he likes to help people better themselves so he would help others become better at what they do. -Unstoppable badass: Cause Nitro is a very large and powerful man who can steamroll through anything. -Paternal figure: Nitro is a very caring individual, however he shows his care in a more tough love kind of way. Helping you out, but then showing you the right way to do it so you can do it yourself later. However he is always there to help you if you need him again.
Other notes: Really Nitro just wants to use his body for the good of the people, which is what drove him to be a knight. Now if the knights start doing things that he thinks are not helping the good of the people he would quit immediately and become a vigilantly fighting for the people by himself. Or joining a group who does fight for the good of the people. Don’t make Nitro too cold or mean of a char, he isn’t really cold or mean, he is just really blunt.

... I need more female characters, seriously I'm coming up blank here and thats simply disgraceful. Lilly is probably the least interesting character right now, too.
Also new chapter tomorrow evening, because I can lie in on wednesday morning. I also need some more time to work out how to introduce the information dump that will comprise the next chapter without it being boring. However, there should be nitro and Raiark in it so thats always a plus, and focus should shift from Ven soon as I begin to get into the swing of things. My plan is to have each character have a mini story dedicated to them in a chapter where appropriate, either a fight or a mystery or whatever until the end. I'm not sure when that will start, or how long I'll keep it up or which characters I'll use, but hopefully it will happen, and I'll make some new characters including female ones hopefully as time goes on, and possibly even the next chapter. Alright, over and out and night.

So today I had an epiphany... a flash of inspiration so strong that I cant believe I didn't think of it before. With inspiration from www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqNxVyg2dLc&list=PL2645246767925511&index=9The daedric princes in elder scrolls the greek gods in greek myth And Akis as a character... Why not make an inter connected universe using all the various god characters I've imagined over the years, and new ones? Akis, Death from Bliss... someone from shadow sun... well whatever I'll make most of it up, or, YOU make up people for me to use, and I'll put them all in. So I'd have a story detailing the gods origins, perhaps starting in the real world, then Ash and other stories can be used to string them all together. For example, Akis. Guy in the real world, becomes god, then starts Ash. Akis also knows death, although death is a part of his own story, Bliss! I actually have this somewhat thought out but I don't want to create spoilers. Thoughts anyone? I'll only do it if people think it's a genuinely good idea.

Sounds like a good idea if it's not boring. I mean, I don't want backstory everywhere for lots of gods. But if you can make it without it being a big info dump it could be great.
