A quick Google search tells me that either it overheated or there's a more serious hardware problem. Stand it up vertically in the open in a cool room, try it again, and see if there's a flashing yellow light anywhere. ( Source)

One particular instance of a 360 outlasting a ps3 doesn't make the 360's 50+% fail rate any lower than the PS3's ~10% fail rate. EDIT: Missed the first half of the post. Eh, whatever, nothing to do about it now.

EDIT: missed the first half of the post. yeah but its a fair test One instance is never a fair test. The more you have, the fairer it is, since it reduces the effect of flukes on the results. So the only test less fair than that is not testing at all, actually.

Your particular 360 has proven to be more reliable than her particular PS3, yes. ...Assuming, of course, that you got them at the same time and that the PS3 is actually broken. By the way, my hatred of the 360 is one of the reasons for my hatred of Microsoft, so emphasizing that the 360 is a Microsoft product doesn't bug me.

Ahem that's my unreliable Sony ps3 which is working and I don't want to get into which is better Sony or Microsoft because they are both rubbish untill gotcha force graces them therefore Nintendo wins
