Hi! Treadshot A1 here, and for once i'm actually not here to show off another robot i've designed. This is actually my first foray into the world of creating 'organic' characters. That is, a character who's not made out of metal and clearly not robotic. It's taken me over a year of designing for print, but i've finally done it, thanks in part to the joints developed for Sigma Iris 2 and of course a couple of new tricks here and there. Basic Assassin was designed because i wanted to make at least a few of the more iconic characters before i reached double digits with my GFX designs. And, because i liked his hairstyle. And because ninja characters are cool. During the design, obviously the main idea was to try and branch out from my more mechanical lineup into the more organic world, and i think that's quite visible in the final design. He appears organic to me, at least (aside from the screws molded into his design, obviously). In the process, i kept the level of articulation i usually do, with the exception that he doesn't have a waist joint. He does have ball joints for ankles, knees, hips, shoulders and elbows, along with a ball jointed neck (which i carefully carved out to allow him to look upwards as well). His sheath does work to stow his sword when it's not in use. The shoulders i actually made using the same ideas that created Sigma Iris 2, while i had to draw inspiration from other toys for the hip joints (some inspiration came from my Busou Shinkis, actually...). Also have to thank whoever it was that made a human model available to me (i forget the name and can't find it now), as that served as a great base on which to sculpt Basic Assassin's torso. Oh, and just a funny little tidbit: Basic Assassin was actually sculpted from a 3D model of a woman. Yes, you read that right. Anyways, i hope you guys like him, and any suggestions on how to improve are greatly appreciated. Oh, and if anyone has a pic of one of his bombs, it would be appreciated if you could send it my way. Might incorporate one if it's cost-effective.

just speaking frankly, normal ninja here looks kind of... chunky. i would think that his mask would be flat on his face, and that his face would be smoother as well. as for his torso its more narrow and his chest armor also extends further downward. also his hair is more pointy. he also has athletic tape covering his hands like he does on his feet.
sorry if i sound a bit harsh, but normal ninja is my favorite borg ;D carving out your 3D models sounds like a pain, and it looks like you put a lot of work in altering the original model, especially at the head. i'm pretty sure that this isn't the final render, and it would look so much nicer once you smooth everything over and get his proportions correct. good job so far!

Yeah, we'll, that was the point of posting him. Like I said, I don't do human characters very often (if ever), so the more comments the better.
As for him looking chunky, I think if I export the model back out and smooth it a bit I might be able to get it to look better.
His mask...I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be like that. The mask (like all masks) should wrap over his face. Unless you're telling me he doesnt have a nose and mouth, his mask shouldn't be flat...
The hair...I guess I could make it pointier if it's really that important. As for the hands needing tape...I think I could add a bit of bulk to his hands around the palm to make that tape.
I should mention that I didn't alter the original model to make this toy. I don't touch the original models from the game at all when I design my toys, everything I make has been drawn from scratch on a blank canvas. All I have to go on are a few screenshots. I don't even have access to the original models, and even if I did I wouldn't use them.

Um...I'm pretty sure it's yellow...though I suppose maybe it's a subtle colour change? At any rate, it doesn't matter, as the model itself gets printed in white, and I can paint it to be however many tones I want.

I suppose you would be correct sir ;D.
I think its like the front is orange, and then it fades into yellow, but i am unsure.
Also proto red, and proto mars. Since the two are so similar could you do like g red and have the same body but with like attachable bits ( like armor.) to make one toy for two characters? Im jw it sounds rather tedious and they probably wouldnt be able to combine.
Also note that by proto i also mean the regular variant with machine or cyber in its name, as for red and Mars it doesnt change between reg and proto.
Unlike say eagle robo and proto eagle.

Heh, I'm working on the combining borgs. I'm currently wondering how big I want to make them, as I should be making them the same size as Triple Ruler, but then they'd be a costly pair.
Hopefully ill make a set of toys that will combine. Regardless, I want to have a few other things made before I go back to working on robots.

Well...I do have a request thread that outlines how to make requests...
I'm thinking I'll probably target the girl borgs next, at least until I have some decent femmes, after which I'll get onto...whatever it is people request.

alrighty treadshot, let's help you make a toy on the lines of the killer/shadow girl figurines, except fully posable! i'm pretty sure that he doesn't have a nose or a mouth, and that the mask is flat on a flat face (well not really a flat face, but it's a smooth curve from the forehead to the chin). for the clothes i don't think you should add bulk to the pieces of clothing that closely follow his body curves, since the mask, shirt, and tape look like they just colored his skin, and not added something on top of the skin (if it was added then it looks really thin). even the eyes are flat on his face. edit: just took a look at my killer girl figurine, and the creators gave her a thin mask, a nose, and two shallow spots to paint the eyes on (which were painted pretty well). the eyebrows are raised slightly, as is her headband, but the stockings are the same width as the legs. i guess it really isn't all that flat. also metalherox is right about the two-toned hair, except that the tippy-top of the head is red, and it fades to yellow on the way down, like so

And how much would it take to get that Killer Girl figure off you? I'll try to improve this guy soon to make you guys happier, kk?

Hmm...not much to see here. What i've done is basically refined the model to look better when it's printed. I'm going off of Frozn's list of critiques: This was what i was mainly fixing today. Getting some of the chunkiness out of the torso. It turns out the renders looked clunky before because there were too few polygons to make the shape i wanted. Especially around Basic Assassin's lower back, which didn't help with the proportions. I redid the model and reworked the polygons to help make that area look a bit smoother. I think i mentioned last time that i'd go with the Killer Girl figureine's idea of there actually being a mouth and nose, so i didn't change that. I'm thinking about the torso, how i'm going to change it. This part definitely needs to be worked on. I would like to point out that his red chest armour is actually not that large, and the red armour he had in the first render was actually the correct size. You can see the armour is just a red line across his chest. Done. This is what i've got so far. Like i said at the start, it's not yet that different. The tape has been added, and i've left them flat on his hands (tape isn't very thick in real life, so it would add maybe 2mm to my hand. Given Basic Assassin is about 1000x smaller than me, the tape is so thin at that scale i just left it out). I smoothed over the torso, so hopefully it looks better now. I'll still need to fine-tune the proportions. Anyways, just keeping track of my progress, nothing to see here.

He needs much fancier pants. You know, a lot poofier. I think you should make the torso just a bit shorter if you can.
